Fern Hook Vacation Cabins are located nearby Jedidiah Smith State Park in the tiny hamlet of Hiouchi, California. Indulge yourself in a private setting of magnificent redwoods carpeted with ferns. Our sustainably constructed cabins with full kitchens will provide deluxe accommodations while you enjoy this natural wonderland.

We are pet friendly, but require a 30$ per pet fee, for each reservation. No cats.

The cabin was great, the host even provided an a mattress for our kid to sleep on which he was so happy about. It was a nice and quiet place to visit and I kind of wish we had planned to stay longer than a night but it was in a great location super close to the Jedediah Redwoods State Park main entrance and not too far from the Del Norte airport. We would definitely stay again.

Love the place. Especially, the farm animals who greeted us every day.A couple of challenges with the TV and Dishwasher. But other than that it was great.

The place was great! Very clean, more than enough amenities, and right in the middle of the ferns and Redwoods. Also, this was our first trip after getting a new dog and he was able to tag along : )

Being surrounded by the redwoods was wonderful. The property itself was very basic. No TV, no internet, no cell service. The bed was very uncomfortable and the sofa had lost it's springs. It was very private, quiet and the cabins are spaced far enough apart.

My friend and I was so happy with the surroundings of this cottage in the Redwood Forest. Beautiful setting. We were happy with the fact the listing said it sleeps 4. When we came into the cottage, there was one bedroom, which we knew that be the case., The only other bedding was a single twin mattress up against the living room wall. We were very surprised to see that there wasn’t a couch that poured out to a hide a bed. Also, the couch itself was uncomfortable sitting, it was very low and hard to get out of. We did have interaction with the owner during our stay. He was very cordial with us and wanted us to be happy. All and all I would say again, the setting of this cottage was a very beautiful setting in the trees.

Peaceful setting

So beautiful!!

Had such a great time at this cabin. Great location, cabin was just as listed if not better. Had everything we needed to cook a small meal, and the bed was so comfortable.

Cabin in the Redwoods

This was our favorite stay of a 12 day trip! We originally booked it for our last 2 nights but then realized we'd be 3 hours south in the redwoods so James graciously refunded our second night stay. We all were enchanted by this beautiful property and darling cabin.

Great Woodsy Spot

Everything was great, close to everything but far enough away in the woods. A bit of noise from the road but the heavy rain helped cover that up all night. Overall great experience staying here!
