Great stay in Holden Beach. Irv (host) was excellent and very accommodating. Home has spectacular views. Definitely recommend!

Awesome communication with the host; I had lots of question and he was very responsive (and quick). Great house for a friend or family get together at the beach - and what a view!

This property was exactly what I thought it would be. The house had everything we needed and plenty of space. Kitchen was well equipped for our needs and very clean. Excellent selection of books for a good vacation read. The pool area was nice and the outdoor shower made it easy to rinse the sand off after coming in from the beach. Walking distance to the beach was very convenient. The view was amazing! It felt like home. Communication with the host was excellent! Definitely recommend this home for family vacation.

Location of property was excellent. Traveling with older guests and a disabled adult the stairs were somewhat hard manage, but we made do. The stairs would be something to consider when renting this property, but there is an elevator available. Host was very informative and available for questions during our stay. Would definitely consider this property again for future vacations.

This is a great place and Irv is an excellent host. You cannot beat the location and the home is wonderful. I cannot recommend this place enough! We will be back!!

One of the best oceanfront homes I’ve found in my 30 years of visiting Holden Beach. In all those years, I’ve rented an east end maybe twice. This stay has completely changed my perspective, and I am now an east end fanatic!!!The fantastic view, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen are only topped by the most attentive host I’ve ever encountered anywhere. Irv, thank you so much. You went way above and beyond to accommodate my many needs.I’ll be back

Highly recommend this beautiful beach house! The view was gorgeous! We directly faced the ocean and beach access over the dunes was literally steps away! The pool was heated and easily accessible on the property. Fully equipped kitchen and laundry. Host was very helpful, answered questions promptly, and even went out of his way to fix a TV issue!

This family had their first of what I hope will be many vacations at Pelican Watch, my beach "home" not just a beach rental. If I'm not available to inspect following rentals I get a report from cleaners. This family showed the "respected" my home and they are most welcome to return.

Family Vacation

Great house! Location to the beach was perfect and house was full of books and amenities for our use. Thanks for a great stay even it was during TS Debby.

Marion and his family were extremely patient and helpful as Tropical Storm Debby took her sweet time off the Carolina Coast and produced heavy rain for days. Marion and family have been invited back!

Clean house and beautiful view right on the beach!

This is a very nice place with a great pool for entertaining kids when not on the beach. The ocean is a 30 second stroll from the front door, and there is a great 3rd story deck off the living area with panoramic views up and down the beach. The homeowner is also very easy to work with, and I'd stay here again with my family.

Lovely and comfortable Oceanfront Home! The late April weather was perfect to allow fresh breezes in, but we spent much time enjoying the upper outside deck and the pool along with the ocean. Irv is a wonderful person that makes sure that you have everything you need. Best communication I have had with an owner/manager in over 20 trips to Holden. Beds were support and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. Immaculately clean. The Woods' are also very generous providing access to the storage underneath - with a wealth of toys for sand and pool, chairs, pool umbrella. You can tell this is a personal home, well cared for, and we consider ourselves a very fortunate benefactor of their generosity. Thank you so much for providing the perfect short break we needed!!

Amy, when you made the rental request I knew you would appreciate and care for Pelican Watch. It's not just an investment property, but IS my beach home. We have plenty of things available to our guests and available for my family when we get time there. Over 80% of my annual rental nights are occupied by repeat renters, some for more than 15 years. You are defintely welcome to return.

Our stay at Pelicans Watch was absolutely perfect. The location couldn’t be better—right on the beach with the most incredible sunrises and sunsets visible from the porches, living room, and even the bedrooms. Waking up to the sound of the ocean and stepping outside for beach walks and shelling was a highlight of every day. We found some amazing shells during our trip!The house itself was beautifully maintained and fully stocked with everything we could possibly need. The heated pool was a huge bonus, and having an elevator to the top floor made things so much easier for moving luggage and groceries.One thing we loved most was that the house truly had everything for the beach—chairs, toys, and all the gear—so we didn’t have to bring a thing. It made the whole trip so easy and relaxing.This was one of the most comfortable and enjoyable beach stays we’ve ever had. We can’t wait to come back!

Mothers Day Get Away

Grandmother, Mother and Grandaughter escaped for a delightful 3 day weekend over Mother's Day. Perfect interlude in a very busy end of school year. Would definitely recomment Holden Beach for a peaceful, pleasant vacation. Owner of property was very easy to communicate with.

Vacation at Pelican Watch

We all thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at Holden Beach. The house was comfortable and suited our needs perfectly. Any questions we had were promptly answered by the property owner. The pool was a big plus and used by all! The beach was a brief walk away. Our stay was all we hoped for.

Excellent location - bathroom shower curtain in Jack and Jill bathroom needs to be replaced (had mold on it). Property manager was incredibly attentive.

You never had to wonder about anything because they were always a step ahead.The property itself? Best we’ve ever stayed in. Immaculate, well-appointed, and everything you’d want for a beach getaway. The only “problem” we had all week was deciding whether to spend the afternoon at the pool or walk down to the beach — and honestly, that’s a great problem to have.Holden Beach is a hidden gem. Quiet, unhurried, and wonderfully family-friendly — the kind of place that feels frozen in time in the best possible way. No noise, no chaos, just good people and a beautiful stretch of coast.And the view from the property… the ocean right there, the sound of the waves rolling in — it was exactly what we needed. Really nice, well described property. Perfect spot on Holden Beach!

We had great communication with the property owner who answered any questions quickly and honestly. Check in was super easy and the house was exactly as described. The Master with the King Bed (ocean view) is on the top floor, the rooms with the Ocean View Queens are on the entry floor. Deck has gorgeous views of the ocean. Property is situated between two public beach entrances so you can people watch but never feel at all crowded. Would definitely stay here again!

Thanks for the nice review. Based on my interactions with this family and the good post-stay report from my house cleaners, this family has already been invited back to Pelican Watch. In 2020 and 2021, approximately 80% of my rental nights are from repeat renters. We try to provide a quality home and service and appreciate those who take care of Pelican Watch.

Holden Beach with Holden

Pelican Watch was magical for mothers day at a quiet section of the beach with a heated swimming pool. The pelicans flew over head every day. Irv was a great communicator before during and after our stay. The house is close to one of the Holden Golden mailboxes. We found the Holden Sea Biscuits and large shells.

Great communication and beautiful sunsets

Communication was excellent from the time we booked and throughout our stay. It was a perfect location. We loved being able to step out at night to enjoy sunset on the beach. The house had everything we needed. My girls loved playing games in the extra loft area by the kitchen. We had forgotten one of the beach and pool toys for our youngest, but Irv had something perfect available for him to use!

Thanks, I'm gad Maureen and family enjoyed their first stay at Pelican Watch, At least 80% of my rental nights annually are by multi-year repeats. Regarding beach and pool "stuff," we provide a "rag-tag" collection of pool floats, beach toys, boogie boards, beach chairs, small beach umbrellas, etc. I'm glad something satisfied her son after his toys missed getting packed. They took great care of my beach "home" (not just a beach rental) and are invited back.

A great Spring Break

This property is in an ideal location and exactly as described. The best stocked beach home we have EVER rented. Pool items, beach items, kitchen items, books, games… it’s all there! Irv is a great host. He sent detailed instructions that explain everything you would need to know about the home and the area. He also responded quickly and kindly to texts. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful Host

Mr Woods was great in keeping us up to date before our stay and also checking in with us during our stay when a storm was approaching. The home fit our family wonderfully, giving everyone their own space. Having a pool to cool off in after a long, hot day at the beach was GREAT. Sadly I did not pay close enough attention to the fact that there were so many steps to the beach access (my fault) Other than my hip "talking to me" each night, it was a perfect trip. Thank you Mr Woods for opening your lovely home to me and my family.

Thanks for your kind remarks. Based on our dealings and report from cleaners, you are invited to return. Glad you and family enjoyed your stay. The 150 feet (or so) walk to crossover is necessary for protecting the large dunes, which protect our homes. The 200+- feet of beach strand adds to your hike, but is a valuable resource of beauty, enjoyment and protection.

Pelican Watch is SUPERB

The house was perfect for our family of 6 adults and a two year old. The owner was fabulous to communicate with, and the house was super clean, well-stocked, and it was obvious that the owner has thought out all the little details. Being from Washington state, we really appreciated the pool chairs and toys available and the availability of beach chairs. We enjoyed the decks with plenty of sitting space, the spacious bedrooms, the amazing kitchen, and the living room for family time. This beach house was really well thought out. I can’t express how wonderful our stay was! Thank you to a great owner who takes so much care to keep the house and pool immaculate and comfortable. We hope to make this a yearly trek!

The property was everything that it was advertised to be. We were extremely happy with our choice!

This is the first time our family had ever done a Sunday to Sunday rental and it was by far one of the best decisions we have made. Traveling both to and from the beach property was so much less stressful than any of our other vacations. With regards to the house itself - it was everything plus than what we expected. The views from all three decks are breathtaking and such a joy to just sit out there and just enjoy regardless what time of day it is. The beach was not all crowded and we felt like we had it to ourselves. It was great to be able to just walk back to the house to grab a sandwich, use the restroom or just to take a nap whenever you wanted (it is so close). Having the pool at the house is a definite plus. So relaxing to come off of the beach, rinse off in the outside shower and then just hang out in the pool for awhile before settling in and getting dinner ready. This vacation definitely ranks up there as one of the best that my family has ever taken. With regards to the owner Irv - it was such a pleasure dealing with him from the beginning of the process to the very end. He was on top of all of my requests and questions and very quick to respond. He was actually there the day we checked in and explained everything that we needed to know. Irv was very concerned with making sure that our vacation was a pleasurable one. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to rent a house at Holden Beach. Wayne Hepler
