Late Fall and Winter months you will need 4 wheel drive. The weather can change quickly in the High Country. Our driveway is too long to shovel snow. You will need four-wheel-drive!

“Rocky Meadows" Cottage by the Pond, my husband and I rent out for short term rentals. "Rocky Meadows" Cottage By The Pond is located on a 1 acre pond 3.5 miles from Blowing Rock's Main Street, where shopping and restaurants abound. Minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and just off scenic Highway 221 on the way to Grandfather Mountain. Bring your tent and pitch on the shore of the pond for the kids or go hiking in the adjacent woods.

For those who want seclusion plus the convenience of being close to everything, it is the perfect spot.

Perfect Getaway

This property was cozy! As a 2BR1BA, I was originally concerned about size, but once arrived, it was PERFECT! Open floor plan for kitchen/living room made great for family time. Hot, hot water for the showers with decent pressure. PLENTY of linens. The property grounds were gorgeous and the lay out of the chairs and fire pit around the pond was even more convenient. Pond is stocked with fish, whom bite rain, shine, and snow!

Amazing Winter Getaway

We just spent the last weekend at the cabin. It was one of the best family vacations we have had to date. The cabin and the grounds were beautiful, well maintained, and private. The Blowing Rock town itself is gorgeous and charming (and only minutes away from the cabin). Plenty to do in the area with the kids (tubing, hiking, sledding, sight seeing, etc.). As the listing mentions, you will need AWD in the winter. Our AWD vehicle unfortunately ended up in the shop right before our trip so we had to chance it last minute with our FWD vehicle, so that was the only issue we experienced with physically getting to the cabin location (but again that was on us). I highly recommend and we will be returning!

Everything we wished for!

We couldn't be happier with our stay at the Cottage by the Pond, it was really lovely - the cabin was so cozy, plenty of towels, hot water, washer dryer, dishwasher...we got goat milk soap from the hosts, it was just really great! We will be back for sure

Short weekend stay

This cute little cabin tucked down among trees is idealic. Not only was the cabin a perfect size for my husband and I, but the drive to Blowing Rock was quick and easy. Loved the pond on this property which we enjoyed walking around with our dog. Will rebook this property 100%!

Great place to stay and safe especially staying through hurricane Helene

This home had everything we were looking for. The location was perfect for being able to get to Blowing Rock and Boone. However, we decided to leave early do to the arrival of hurricane Helene. This home withstood horrible wind and rain , but we were safe. The neighbors came and checked on us. Also, Dennis and Jennifer drove 45 minutes to check on us. We will definitely come back to this special home.

Great place to unplug

The photos of this cabin don't do it justice... It is updated and lovely! Our phone service didn't work in the cabin but we didn't care. The scenery and beautiful surroundings make for a prefect

Cute little cabin

This cabin is secluded and the private pond is very nice. Had a relaxing quiet stay. Very close to downtown shopping and restaurants. TIP... make a reservation if you are planning to eat at some of the favorite local spots. Definitely recommend the Speckled Trout restaurant for dinner.

Fantastic

The cabin was just as advertised. Very neat, clean and the kitchen was well organized. It was in a perfect location to see many things. The beautiful pond was an added bonus to the visit. We plan on visiting again!

Great get away

Place is awesome. Picturesque and quiet. 10 minutes to anything you want to do whether in town at Blowing Rock or hiking lake trails. Highly recommend this over staying in Blowing Rock proper or Boone.

Wonderful time in Blowing Rock! Cabin is spot on with descriptions. Bed extremely comfortable. Cozy living room. Location perfect for privacy but close to town and hiking. Would rent again

Peace & Setenity

The location was terrific, we enjoyed the view from the front porch. My husband caught a bass in his fishing at the pond . Many beautiful lakes and hiking areas close by. The town of Blowing Rock is only a few miles away. Shopping, restaurants and parks close by. We both enjoyed our stay tremendously.

Cabin Getaway

It is the perfect little cabin, secluded, private, close to many hiking trails and fishing spots, and close enough to blowing rock to make a short 8-minute trip into town. The host made the stay unforgettable with details like firewood near the fire pit ready, handmade soaps in the bathroom, extra ice in the freezer, a child gate available for the porch, extra kids' fishing poles, and no checkout requirements. My father and I had a fantastic father/son weekend hiking, hanging out on the porch, fishing the pond, and meeting all the lovely people in the surrounding cabins. This place is a real hidden gem.

Such a peaceful place!

My husband and i had an amazing time here! We caught four fish, probably would have caught more if we had more time to fish! The locations perfect with easy access to Blowing Rock, Groceries, shops, parkway views, Lineville Falls, hiking and more! Thank you so much for hosting us!

Absolutely wonderful!

This place was better than described! Clean, cozy, and secluded! The pond is amazing! This place has everything needed for a mountain getaway! Very close to all the amenities in town, but just far enough out. The pond is an easy walk across the front yard on level ground. Several good spots around it to wet a hook, including a small pier. This would be a great mountain spot for elderly, or people with minor mobility issues. Just a few steps to get onto the porch, then cottage layout is all on one floor. We will be staying here again!

"Rocky Meadows" has been in my family since around 1929. My fathers' great aunt Minerva Walker Goldsmith "Aunt Bea" purchased Rocky Meadows around 1929 in order to spend summers away from the heat of Palm Beach. Aunt Bea was known for her modernist watercolor landscape paintings. She developed a love for the mountains and sold property to her friends, one being Phillip Moose, and established Artist Alley. My father built this cabin with very little assistance in 2006. It took him 2 years to complete.
