Riverfront Cottage -Near Drake Park, Walk to Town.

One bedroom with queen bed and a really comfortable queen hide-a-bed, right on the Deschutes River. You can walk one way to town (through Drake Park), and the other way also along the river to the Old Mill District.

You can watch the otters, beavers, eagles, osprey, mink, heron, geese, swans and ducks from the riverfront deck. There is another deck with a gas bbq right out the back door.

It is a short drive to Mt. Bachelor for world class skiing as well as the Cascade Lakes with amazing outdoor recreational opportunities.

Hiking, mountain climbing, road biking. You can even ride your mountain bike from your front door, and in only 3 miles be on the famous Phil's Trail, with 100's of miles of uncrowded single track.

The Riverfront Cottage exceeded my expectations. The kitchen had everything I needed for my morning routine and nightly meals. The deck got a healthy dose of sunshine - the perfect spot for coffee and chill time. Bed was perfect! I hope to have a longer stay in in 2026.

Great spot!

The stay at this house was very relaxing. My wife and I really enjoyed the location and river access. If you want to relax and escape life for a few days. This is the spot! John the land lord is very outgoing and very accommodating.

What a perfect location to stay! Both on the beautiful river, and walking distance to the Amphitheater. The owner lives next door and was super nice. My only complaint is with VRBO screwing up my reservation.

Deschutes River Cabin

Lovely cabin in the heart of Bend. We LOVED the outdoor space and that we could jump in the river whenever we got hot. The cabin is an easy walk to Drake Park, downtown Bend, and the Old Mill District.

Amazing location and great host

You can't beat the location of this little cottage. It was great to be able to walk everywhere. We enjoyed the backyard and loved being right on the river. The kitchen has everything you need, even if it's a bit disorganized. The house is well-loved and in need of a few updates. John was a fantastic host.

Well it's us again. Craig & Becky. Guess this makes it 5 years running and another coming up fast. We love being on the river. We like Bend so much we bought a vacation house about 10 blocks away, not on the river, sad. We value our time in Johns' house so much we still rent to be on the river. Couldn't afford to buy on the river, but we can rent and enjoy it. It's a fabulous spot. Our escape. The house is small, 1 BR so it's no surprise, comfortable, great Queen bed, well equipped and clean. That about takes care of my needs.

Right where you want to be in Bend!

We visit Bend frequently and love trying new vacation rentals in different parts of town. John's cottage is the first time we stayed along the Deschutes River and while we intended to be there with snow, this year's weather didn't cooperate. We didn't get the winter view, but will definitely be back to try out the river during the summer! The cottage is perfectly located within walking distance of anything and everything worthwhile. Downtown Bend shopping and restaurants in one direction, go the other and you have 10 Barrel and the food truck lot and Hutch's Cycles. Follow the river path to the Mill District, or Drake Park. No matter which direction you go, you'll be there in less than 10 min walking. John is very helpful with info on the area and we enjoyed staying in his cottage. The cottage is well supplied with all the necessities. It was warm and cozy, perfect for the 2 of us and our dog!

Great property! We loved our stay here, it was my husband, pup and 9 month old son and we had a blast. The place is in a great location with a beautiful backyard to swim in the river or relax on the deck.

This was perfect for us! Sweet little place in an excellent location! Everything we needed plus chairs to relax in right next to the river. Bed was really comfortable and kitchen seemed well-stocked.

The best little red cabin on the Deschutes River

Our stay was so relaxing. We had everything we needed . We sat outside on the deck so much of our time there. Amazing location you can walk everywhere, including the concert that we went to at the Hayden Amphitheater We would love to come back and stay Thank you John!

Lovely cottage

Well-appointed cottage in a perfect location. You can walk everywhere, kayak, or just enjoy the afternoon sun on the deck. We’ll definitely look for this place again in the future.

Just right

Although the rental was more than we usually pay it was in line with rentals in the resort town of Bend. Having a private cozy cottage on the river with a full kitchen, clean bathroom and comfortable bed beats staying in a generic condo. Location was terrific and John responded to my questions even though he was out of the country. Thank you John!

I am a semi-retired real estate investor who fell in love with Bend and can't find any place I would rather live. There is so much to do here if you like the outdoors, but the community feel is what really makes it special.

This was my vacation home in Bend before I decided I had to live here permanently. There are not many homes on the river in Bend, which makes it quite special. You can walk through Drake Park along Mirror Pond to downtown Bend in about ten minutes, and the other direction is the Old Mill District. I love this location and neighborhood so much that when I wanted a bigger home, I moved next door. It is rare to find a place that is so close to everything and because of the river still seems a bit wild.
