Family 4th of July Stay

The location of the house works well. It is in a quiet neighborhood and we saw deer from the living room. We had 5 adults and a 3 year old and we fit in the house nicely. Plenty of kitchen cabinets and counter space. Beds were very comfy. We would stay again for sure.

Great home!!

This house gave a great “at home” feeling. It was clean and had a great location for us to visit with our family that live locally. The host was so kind and prompt to respond to my messages. We will definitely stay here again if we visit East Jordan in the future. The porch was so nice to sit out on and enjoy the weather. The yard was nice, big and beautiful! The neighbors we very friendly and the neighborhood was very quiet. The beds were soft and the kitchen had everything we needed for our stay. 5 stars!!!!!

Great location for all northwest Michigan

We stayed for a week at this house with our two cocker spaniels. The location was great for going to Charlevoix, Petosky, and Traverse City. The home was very clean and offered everything we needed and then some for a comfortable stay. The bed (master) was comfortable and there was an abundance of towels, cookware, etc. While we didn’t use the other two bedrooms but the spaces were adequate and thoughtfully set up. Yes, the washer and dryer are in a bedroom, but who cares? The ability to do laundry outweighs the location :). The communication with the host was prompt and thorough. I have allergies so we unplugged the air freshener when we arrived and with open windows the fragrance was quickly gone. We would stay here again!

Beware! Mold. OLD Mattress, and MORE.

Easily the worst travel experience I've ever had. Deceptive photos. What you don't see in one is that the bed is in the laundry room (and the dryer is not hooked up safely to code). In the bathroom, what you don't see in the photos, is mold growing on the ceiling (the ventilation fan doesn't have a switch on the wall), a leaking pipe that is growing a science experiment, a bucket of standing water under the sink. The shower screeches loudly and is either scalding hot or freezing cold. In another bedroom what you don't see is that the mattress is easily 30+ old. You sink right in while it folds like a taco. Also, the carpet is moist and moldy. Owner was difficult to work with on these issues and, in fact, in one of her response was VERY mocking and rude. Further, she threatened to leave a bad review about me if I left one about her. I don't care. I'd rather no other traveler have to be subjected to the conditions and rudeness that Rhonda subjected us to. She has been unresponsive to VRBO's continued investigation of the safety concerns for over 24 hours as of this writing. What's interesting is that she claims to have had no complaints in 5 years. But when I made my reservation in April 2021 it said "new listing". And the "guest book" on the table started with entries in May 2021. It's more likely she's only had 3-4 reservations in the couple of months she's been on VRBO. I would never complain if it was just an issue or two. I'd rather work it out with the owner. But all of the above made for a major need to warn my fellow traveler.

I refunded Jamie over 50% of her stay within 24 hrs of her listing concerns to me. I was deeply troubled when I heard of Jamie's "concerns" and see this review as I allowed Jamie to check in early on Friday and checked with Jamie on Saturday morning to make sure everything was satisfactory with the accommodations and she replied pleasantly with no concerns. Until almost midnight when she sent a list of concerns and I responded at 7a.m. addressing them with apologies. This review is grossly inaccurate. There is NO mold on the bathroom ceiling at all. I explained to Jamie that the switch for the bathroom fan is outside the door and yet she continued to state in this review that there isn't one. There is NO standing water under any sink. I explained the corrosion on the pipes are due to hard water in our area and is typical and nothing of concern. The water temp fluctuating is due to the other guest in the house using water at the same time as with most homes. There is NO mold on any carpet. I have never had a complaint on mattresses, only compliments as 3 of the 4 are new and the one referred to is far from 30 years old. I addressed all her concerns in our communication and apologized repeatedly for her not being happy with her stay, followed by a refund even though I feel I should have charged her for the extra cleaning and damage. Jamie did not follow any house rules and left the house in the worst condition of any guest ever. Including leaving marks on the walls and floors from their bikes being brought into the house which I did not authorize. I feel I was beyond fair to Jamie as a guest. I responded to VRBO's inquiring immediately and offered copies of our commication and for any rep to visit the house. There have been positive reviews of other guest stays on other sites.
