Opened the front door and immediately stepped into absolutely stunning views. The home is beautifully decorated, spacious, and spotless — very much a luxury‑resort vibe. We had a small hiccup with the WiFi password, but the host was quick to respond and helpful throughout our stay.We initially thought the downstairs lights weren’t working, but they just take a few seconds to turn on after flipping the switch. The drive up to the house is no joke: narrow, steep mountain roads with sharp hairpin turns and drop‑offs. I wouldn’t recommend attempting it for the first time in the dark, especially with a large vehicle. The kitchen was impressively stocked with plates, cups, pots, pans, dish towels, paper towels, dish soap, and even toilet paper. If you bring your own groceries, you won’t need to head back down those roads until checkout. One important note: stop for gas before reaching Butler. Despite what Google Maps shows, Watauga Lake Mercantile does not have fuel pumps.Parking is limited to two vehicles, so plan to carpool if you’re arriving with a group. The homes are fairly close together, and under normal circumstances it likely would’ve been a very quiet weekend. Unfortunately, our neighbors happened to be a group of young men who repeatedly revved their engines and played loud music late into the night. Not the host’s fault, just unlucky timing.Overall, the house itself is wonderful — comfortable, stylish, and well‑equipped — with truly unforgettable views.
