Welcome to Harbor Country and my woodsy cottage set on a 2 acre lot; just a short drive, walk or bike to several pristine beaches. Bike through wine country, enjoy local restaurants and stroll through the best of Michigan antiquing.

The cottage is in top condition, all one level, with a doggy door accessible through the screened-in porch leading to 3/4 acre picket fenced yard.

This cozy, colorful house is fully equipped with quality linens and kitchen accessories.

Enjoy rocking on the front porch or gather on the rear deck for a bbq, croquet and marshmallow roast over the fire pit.

Lots to do in the area...or just 'be'.

Such a perfect home and yard. Everything was charming and the house was very comfortable for our family and dog. We enjoyed the front porch, screened in porch, patio and fire pit so much. Wonderful place!!!

This is our third time bringing our dog to this property and every time we visit, we discover more things to love. I enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch and playing fetch in the huge yard with my dog. Beds are comfortable, kitchen has what we need, and location is great, near three oaks, sawyer, stevensville, and New Buffalo. Warren Dunes and Cherry beach are very close. We’ll be back!

It's a Dog's Life is an excellent property for you and your dogs. The owner is gracious and clear with instructions. The fenced in yard was a blessing for our pups and we loved the surrounding town. Overall, we loved our stay and hope we can visit again soon!

It's a Dog's Life is a beautiful and comfortable home. It is super clean, the linens are very nice and the beds are comfortable. Everything is in fine working order. The screen porch is wonderful and the back yard is lovely. Unfortunately, I was not able to bring a dog with me but the house is well set up for them. The host, Pam, was very responsive to a couple questions we had. I have only two small suggestions for improvement: (1) the host didn't contact me with access information until 9:30pm the night before our arrival, which made me quite nervous - I was afraid something had gone wrong. It all turned out fine, however. (2) It would be great to have a real coffeemaker. The Keurig with the refillable K-cups is convenient, but it does not brew a good cup of coffee. Just a simple "Mr. Coffee" or a similar, modest coffeemaker would be fine. A tea kettle would be nice, too. We had a wonderful stay and overall, I highly recommend this property.

The host was extremely helpful and accommodating. We were traveling during a snow storm and she kept us up to date on everything and since the space was available, she allowed for an earlier check in and later check out. This is my second stay here and we are already talking about a third! Fantastic!

Summer Family Fun

We visit the area from Chicago every summer and really loved this place. Quiet, comfortable, had everything we needed and pup friendly. Would definitely stay again!

We had a very relaxing stay at Its a Dog’s Life. We appreciated the coziness of the home, the functional BBQ,the fire tables/pits with extra propane tanks available and the wood burning fire place. The house was well stocked with all the essentials. Our dog Miss Molly Mae felt very relaxed and at home. We would recommend this property to our friends and would definitely book another stay.

We had such a relaxing weekend at “It’s a Dogs Life.” Warm fireplace, well equipped kitchen, cozy screened in porch and great location surrounded by the trees. We loved it so much that we went house hunting to find our woodsy oasis! Pam thanks for being so easy to reach! Will definitely stay here again!

Wonderful family place

Our adult children and their dog loved our stay here. The back yard was great for the dog and a fire. We loved the back porch! Lots of amenities. Southwest Michigan is the best!

"It's a Dog's Life" was truly a pleasure to stay at! So comfy and so cute! Our dog, Sadie, had a blast in the totally fenced backyard. Visiting nearby Cherry Beach was wonderful, and our favorite place to have breakfast or lunch was at Viola in Three Oaks. Absolutely recommend for a relaxing vacation. The owner, Pam, was absolutely lovely to work with and very helpful!

Amazing stay!

Beautiful home with a gorgeous backyard that is perfect for all the visitors- especially the dogs! The location is perfect- close to things, but enough away to have peace and quiet. Would highly recommend to all - especially to dog folks because that backyard is superb. House has many amenities to make for a home away from home feel.

I live in downtown Chicago and I love the energy and everything the city has to offer; however, I live for the moment I can escape to Harbor Country in Southwest Michigan. Within an hour and a half I'm here...all the stress of everyday life melts away and I feel on 'vacation' even when I'm here less than 24 hours. I also experience great joy in sharing my home with family and friends. And now that I'm renting my home, I feel the same happiness as my guests report in and recount how much they enjoyed the home, the nearby beaches and the country setting. I feel very lucky to be the owner of 'It's a Dog's Life Getaway'.

Por qué eligió esta propiedad

I purchased this home because of it's easy access from the highway, yet you feel completely removed and isolated. I also wanted a home that was set back from the road, had a large yard for my dogs, offering them freedom in a secure environment. I love the open floor plan with high ceilings, yet feels cozy and warm. I also always wanted to 'rock' on a front porch and have a screened in porch...I never tire of relaxing in these areas with a magazine, cup of coffee and dogs under foot.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

Although I seek the feeling of being 'remote' while here, I love that within minutes you can be at the beach, satisfy a 'purchase' urge at one of the many boutique style shops, and find a good meal at a small restaurant for breakfast. lunch and dinner. I don't feel the area is 'touristy' or commercial, even though most people here are enjoying a vacation. A recent surprise was how fun the wineries are to visit...especially on bikes. The area is enjoyable each season and by no means is just 'a summer home'.
