Nice property near WCU
We rented the property for Thanksgiving to celebrate with my WCU student. The property is mostly as described. We appreciated the comfortable living area, the ability to have our medium dog with us, the very well stocked kitchen (we were very pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the kitchen was in teens of casserole dishes, pots and pans, and serving pieces. Only thing we couldn’t.find was a whisk. :)), and the closeness to WCU (5 min drive).
The property is very basic in terms of linens and finishes so didn’t feel it was quite a 5-star property. We also experienced the VERY musky odor that other reviewers had mentioned. I brought some scent items with us in case we had this but the odor was detectable every time we entered the property. Also, while challenging to control, there were a good number of dead insects in the unfinished basement / game room. The WCU students somewhat enjoyed the basement games but didn’t spend long down there as they found it cold and a bit creepy. :)).
One important thing for awareness is that the house appears to be in a cellular dead zone, at least for AT&T and Verizon. We had absolutely no connectivity and initially the Wi-Fi password we were given was incorrect. We had to drive back towards campus to find cell service so we could call property management. Property management was great, but we couldn’t troubleshoot anything in real-time. Once we got connected then we could make calls and text over wi-fi, which was strong.
