This is certainly not consistent with our cleaning standards and should not have been overlooked. Regarding the pool toys and goggles, we are unfortunately unable to explain what may have happened to them. We take our guests’ privacy very seriously and, as a general rule, our team does not enter the home or access the property during a guest’s stay unless specifically requested by the guest or when service has been arranged with them. We are not aware of anyone from our team being at the property or removing any personal belongings, so unfortunately we cannot provide an explanation for how these items went missing. Most importantly, we’re very happy that these issues did not overshadow your overall experience and that you had such a great time enjoying the home, the boat, the fishing, and the location. Let me clarify the items you complained about to explain future guests how it came to this revenge review. Your review has the headliner "don´t believe the description". Have you read the description ? I doubt you did because all your statements show that you obviously didn´t. So let me get to it point by point. Yes we charge by person and made this clear in the description. There is only 2 things you have to enter when you look for a house besides the location. Dates and number of guests. So why should you book a place for 4 people (where everyone neds his own bedroom) and put in 2 ? VRBO would show you thousands of homes too small for your group. Why would you voluntarily bypass the filter option ? I leave the conclusion to the reader. Fact is, you booked the place for 2 and stayed with 4. When you were caught and asked for payment it all went downhill. The boat is included. Your statement is simply untrue and so easy to expose. You had to pay $150 for the captains advice / boat handover and not the boat. This is also published online in the description of the home. You had nothing else to pay. You had to pay for fuel for the boat ? Of course you had to ! You got it full and returned it with a 1/4 tank. What would Sixt, Avis or Enterprise do if you return your rental car almost empty ? Yes you had to pay for electricity and I repeat myself, it´s published online in the description of the home. We don´t try to nickel and dime our guests. What we do is simply forwarding the charge for electricity during your stay. It can easily determined by reading the numbers of the electric meter of the house. It´s a fair solution for everyone. If a guest wants to bump up the pool heater to 100° and lower the A/C to 65° it´s up to the guest. We don´t want to limit anyone unlike other rental owners do. I´m not sure which Westin you would stay with 4 people in 4 rooms including a rental boat for a nightly rate of $275 but I can assure you it´s not the Westin in Cape Coral. All in all it's such a disappointment to have to deal with these revenge reviews but i'm glad we can show the other side of the story. We have received 28 reviews in the last 4 years and besides the 2 guests who wrote us a revenge review because they were frustrated that we caught them, we only got 5* reviews.

Regarding the boat orientation, we apologize for the misunderstanding upon arrival. While same-day orientations can sometimes be arranged, they are not guaranteed, and we regret that expectations were not aligned in this instance. Thank you for reporting the sliding glass door and the loose screens. These issues were related to a recent storm. While we understand the frustration, post-storm repairs can occasionally take longer due to contractor availability. We regret that these items could not be resolved during your stay. Concerning the grill and propane: the home is equipped with a spare propane tank stored in the garage, specifically so guests can continue grilling without interruption. This allows guests to enjoy their meal and conveniently refill the empty tank during their next shopping trip, as outlined in the rental agreement. Regarding household supplies, the home is stocked with a starter supply of essentials such as toilet paper, trash bags, and dishwasher pods. For longer stays, guests are expected to replenish these items as needed, which is standard practice for most vacation rentals. We understand, however, that these small details can significantly impact comfort, and we appreciate your feedback. we usually appreciate every feedback even if it´s not positive for us. We try to improve our business with each customer and reviews help us to reach that goal. So thank you for taking the time and writing the review. Let me clarify the major items you complained about so future potential guests have both sides of the story to judge. The pool and hot tub heater worked. What the guest did not understood was the fact that the heater has to be turned on manually. We showed that to her at check in and the problem was resolved. The guest got the boat the first day and ran into a sandbar. The damage was so bad that the entire lower unit had to be replaced. That´s a big job and requires a few days. Therefore the boat was towed to the marina and a replacement boat was delivered the next day. The customer was missing one boat day. Our solution was (even the guest damaged the boat and caused all this) to refund the guest for this one missed boat day. This house is located in a residential area. Trash day is Monday and you arrived on Thursday. It´s unfortunate but if the guest before you (it was a same day turnover) had a lot of trash, the garbage can can be nearly full. It doesn´t happen often but it can happen.
