We offer guests to be able to check in and check out without any person to person contact if you call us with the information needed to adhere to State lodging and Real Estate law. (Not all of your information is shared with us by VRBO).
Old Town Cottage, bordered by the Black Hills National Forest, is a cottage situated well above the Historic 1880 Train Depot and within walking distance to downtown Hill City, the Mickelson Trail, Spring Creek and Major Lake for trout fishing. Surrounded by tall pines, guests experience 'the feel of the forest with the convenience to the village'.
Old Town Cottage has two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. The bedrooms have solid wood flooring. We provide a folding single cot suitable for a child (under 90#). There is one bathroom with a tub and shower. The living room is furnished with a sofa with recliners, and a separate chair/recliner. Cable TV, AC unit in the living room. There is a fully furnished kitchen. A laundry pair is provided to ease your packing needs. (Guests furnish their own personal laundry soap.)
The cottage has a gas fire pit for "campfire" evening enjoyment. It also has a gas cooking grill, Guests can enjoy watching deer and turkey on the wooded lot behind the cottage!
The double car garage is available for our guests use.
Total square feet: 900 sq. ft.
NO PETS, NO SMOKING.

We had an outstanding stay at the cottage. It was exactly as described and had everything you need. It was very private and quiet which made for a very relaxing stay. The cottage was very close to all of the places we wanted to visit which allowed us to maximize our time in Hill City. Marcia was a wonderful host and was very responsive anytime we had a question. We use VRBO a lot in our travels and would highly recommend this property to anyone planning to visit this area of South Dakota. You will absolutely enjoy your stay.

We enjoyed staying here. It was perfect for the bike rally. The accommodations were great. The hosts were the best! Will definitely stay again.

This cabin is awesome! Plus the garage is an added benefit! Centrally located. Close to Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park and Crazy Horse Monument! This was the second time we stayed in the cabin. An added plus is you get to hear the 1880 train and can see it go by right from the driveway!

OMG what a great place to stay. My husband and I stayed here in 2013, Me my daughter and granddaughter came this time. So close to all the areas to visit and then come home to rest up for the next day. Walking distance to town for shopping and eating. Thank you for a clean home with all the amenities. One of the best places I've stayed. Very comfortable. Kitchen had high quality items and everything we needed. Within walking distance to micalsen trail and shops and restaurants. Centrally located to visit all the different sites in the area.

The location of this property was amazing! We spent 4 days exploring the whole area and this was such a peaceful place to stay for our first family vacation at the end of the day. My 2 year old loved watching the train feom the driveway come into town in the evening. The garage was a HUGE bonus for us as we took our bronco and had the top off so we were able to store it there and keep the car in there overnight so we didn't get rained on. Marcia was very responsive, even when she was out of town when we arrived. Kitchen, bedrooms, and bathroom, was fully stocked which we appreciated as we made all of our meals there and on the grill. 10/10 would recommend this cabin to anyone staying in the area!

Enjoyed our stay here. Was a great location to all the attractions. Very clean and comfortable. Will stay again if we come back to the area.

Nice property with a secluded feel. About a 5 minute walk into town. Loved the outdoor seating with gas fireplace.

Really quiet, private spot on the edge of town. Comfortable beds and living space, well stocked kitchen. Great communication with owner, would recommend to anyone interested in seeing Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Custer State Park!

Hill city stay
Really nice place to stay, enjoyed our trip very much. I would recommend this property to anyone. Perfect place to stay to see all the sites.
