Loved having these guests stay with us. Yes, if you know and love what St John has historically been known for, the views, the unpretentious life and the ability to get away and relax without all of the hassle and bustle, then this cottage serves those purposes at a reasonable price. We enjoy being able to offer paradise at an affordable rate.

Those who know and love St John are familiar with the island roads. The entirety of the USVI is like this. Welcome to the Caribbean. Also, those that are familiar with the USVI are aware of WAPA. (Water and Power Authority) and the territory-wide, decades-old issues with them. Both of these things are outside of the control of any individual property owner. Most who know and love the Caribbean, are accustomed to the USVI life and do not expect it to have a Ritz Carlton, Turks and Caicos feel. Every short-term rental on the island will have a locked owner's closet or two. Because the owners are letting you into their home. We have no closets that are dusty or full of junk. This is completely untrue. The AC units are standard for the island and the size of the rooms. The property is in the middle of the rainforest in the Caribbean. When you are in nature, it is not recommended to leave outside lights on as they attract insects. You sent a picture of ONE insect that came in a crack. The windows are also fine and standard for the island, and we have never had complaints about them. The property is the most reasonable price you will find on the island, especially for a private property in Fish Bay. It is also stated clearly on all of our descriptions that this is one of the first properties built in Fish Bay. Yes, it is older, you chose to book this property. There are much newer properties on the island and they are much more expensive. We do provide a 41 page Guest Information booklet to all guests to help them prepare for their visit to the islands. It is always suggested that guests learn about the environment that they are traveling to in order to make the most of their time while there and to make sure their expectations match the location they are traveling to. Thank you so much for the review. The pictures were updated last week as we had to replace the chairs at short notice and likely the pictures you saw were from when you originally booked. We ordered more chairs, but they are still in transit from Amazon. Not something that is easy to come by on an island. The pump switch was replaced yesterday, we just realized yesterday that it was wearing out, which is not uncommon on an island with salt air. Message received on setting up the projector. Easily taken care of. All things considered, we are glad you enjoyed your stay. I always love getting this kind of feedback during a stay so that I can address it there and then rather than on the site, but happy to get it nonetheless. Our goal is to always provide the best stay possible of our guests. We would love to have you back any time!

I’m sorry you did not enjoy your stay at our house. However, we are quite surprised by your feedback, given that none of our previous guests have mentioned the issues you brought up and we have only had positive, 5-star reviews on all platforms up until now, including the guests that arrived the day you left. We also had our crew assess each of your concerns as soon as you left the house and found many of them to not be accurate. Our workers attempted to address some of your concerns during your stay, but we did not have them return to the house while you were there because you were challenging towards the workers. We are constantly working to improve our home to make it a pleasant and peaceful stay for our guests, so we always appreciate feedback. However, the pricing of this house on the island during high season is more than reasonable for what we provide. This is an older, family-style home with idiosyncrasies and it clearly wasn’t the right fit for you. We have been as transparent about this as much as possible in the listing for the house, and I don’t believe you will be able to find what you’re looking for in this price range. We would suggest that in the future, you do a bit of investigation on the area where you are traveling and its culture so that you can set appropriate expectations or potentially make adjustments to visit a resort style property next time you stay on the island.
