Welcome to Old Bay!

Experience the charm of ‘Old Florida’ livin’ on the Apalachicola Bay in this beautifully decorated Bayfront home. ‘Old Bay’ is located on the western end of the St. George Plantation where you can enjoy the seclusion of being surrounded by nature with water views from every room.

The main level of the home is an open living space with large, picturesque windows overlooking the Bay. Relax in the natural lighting of a comfortably furnished living space with plenty of room for the entire family. The kitchen is well-equipped to prepare a variety of meals and a convenient second refrigerator can be found in the nearby laundry room with full size washer/dryer.

Two King bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms frame the great room, each with access to the Bayfront sundeck. The third bedroom is a large suite and can be found on the top floor with vaulted ceilings, 2 Queen beds, full bathroom and Bayfront deck to enjoy the panoramic water views!

Outdoor amenities include under-house parking, a fish cleaning station, enclosed outdoor shower and park-style grill. Launch your kayaks or SUP boards right from the bay beach at the property, fish off the dock and enjoy the sunset.

Gulf beach access is a 5–10-minute walk to the nearest community beach boardwalk or you can drive to Jetty Parking off of Leisure Lane and walk the 2-minute public beach trail near Bob Syke’s Cut.

As a guest of this home, you can enjoy the St. George Plantation amenities which include miles of bike paths, two community swimming pools, Clubhouse with fitness center and tennis/pickleball courts. Access to Bob Syke’s Cut via the beach is less than a .5 mile away.

Another Great Stay at Old Bay

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family of four + two grandparents enjoyed another stay at Old Bay. The home is spacious and clean. New decks are perfect spots to read, nap or just enjoy the beauty around. And the dock didn't fail to provide a great spot to cast a net for mullet or a fishing rod for redfish. The long drive through The Plantation is worth it because you can truly get away from the busyness of life. We enjoyed BJ's Pizza 4 times during the trip, picked up fish dip and shrimp from Lynn's Oyster Bar (in Eastpoint) 3 times and went to the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve for the first time. So much to enjoy without traveling far!

Fall Break Getaway

We have been coming to St. George Island for years, but have never stayed in Plantation or on the bay side. I must say, it did not disappoint! The views from the house were incredible. The home was clean and well equipped for cooking. The homeowner provided lots of essentials that we typically have to take on our trips which was very helpful. Unfortunately Isisias decided to visit the island and cut our trip short, but communication from the rental company about the mandatory evacuation was quick and reassuring. We will definitely book this home again.

This was our fourth visit to St. George Island and our first time staying on the bay. This is by far our favorite home. It exceeded our expectations in every way. The location is quiet, private, and surrounded by so much beauty, The home was spotless, well appointed, and had plenty of space for our family to stretch out. The views from the windows and decks are outstanding. We loved exploring the tidal pool and saw hermit crabs, sting rays, egrets and countless fish. The gulf was a short, pleasant 5 minute walk for us. It was a perfect relaxing vacation. We look forward to visiting again.

Perfect Getaway

It’s in a very secluded, quiet area of the island. It was spotless, well appointed, and had plenty of room for everyone. The beds were so comfy. And the views were amazing! There was a lot to explore in the area and the gulf was just a short 5 minute walk. Everything was wonderful! We will be back!

This time was a new screened porch which I lived on! And a whole new deck! We love this house so much-you really don’t even leave to go to the beach. It’s just so beautiful and peaceful! We did enjoy pool and pickleball this time which was lots of fun. Can’t wait to get back! Loved it!

This wonderful home was just as it was pictured! The kitchen was extreamely well stocked, the beds were comfy, the furniture was in great condition! We loved having the ice machine and extra fridge. The bay was so beautiful, it felt like we were on a houseboat floating on the water!

We enjoyed our stay at Old Bay. Sound access was good. Room for two families of 4 (with college aged adults to spread out).

We had four adults and four children under 9 stay at this property for 5 nights. The views are amazing. The property is pretty much what you see but better in person. There’s beach and bay water access from the house for early morning. When the tide is out, the water is basically nonexistent on the shore though. The gulf side beach is close and convenient for this. There are 3 beach accesses and 2 pools. Super convenient. The hermit crabs and fishing are a huge hit. You can see lots of animal activity in the water and the sand. The beds and furniture are super comfy. While there was some accommodations like trash bags, dish soap, sponge, and paper towels, there are no extra. Once you’re out, like toilet paper, that’s it. So plan accordingly. Bring all cooking oils, spices, baggies etc. there was no miscellaneous pantry of baking or cooking essentials. There is a grocery store on the island but everything is limited and a bit more expensive. The plantation is quiet and calm. The pools were calm. Everything was super peaceful. Excellent place to sit and enjoy coffee on any of the decks. And there were tons of reading books and games for the whole family. And the kids really enjoyed the treehouse loft. So roomy and comfortable for all.

Loved it!

We loved Old Bay! View was amazing from all rooms!.. we cooked every night and kitchen was fully stocked. We fished for trout and red fish during the day and gigged flounder in the evenings. Will definitely be back!

The men enjoyed the ice machine, fish cleaning station and fishing from the dock/wading in the water to cast net fish. And the women enjoyed the well-stocked kitchen and having two refrigerators. The Plantation neighborhood is quiet and perfect for riding bikes, walking and enjoying beautiful sunrises & sunsets. Thanks for sharing your home!

Sitting on the dock of Old Bay watching the tides roll away!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Wonderful stress free relaxing experience. Many catch and release fish were caught and some were photo worthy. The only downside (if there is one) is the lack of a railing on the dock. Would highly recommend Old Bay. We will definitely be returning to our new favorite place.

Amazing

We came in as Hurricane Idalia came through. The property manager at Forgotten Shores (Jamie) was amazing. She did whatever she could to get us settled. She kept in contact with me, and updated me on her concerns and time frame. The house was wonderful. There was some flooding around the property but that did very little to dampen our good time! The house is close to public beach access, but we had to drive for any food. Of course, the seafood there is worth it!

The cleanliness & maintenance of the home is very much appreciated. From the gorgeous sunrise glows to the incredible sunsets, each day was filled with such beauty. The views of the variety of birds, dolphins, a shark here & there, stingrays, fiddler crabs, schools of mullet & monarch butterflies were so enjoyable! From the dock we caught redfish & flounder. Also caught redfish & trout on the bay side of SGI State Park. We loved launching our kayaks from the home & also launched from Nick's Hole and caught redfish. It was awesome to cast net mullet from the dock for bait. Also enjoyed fishing at the Cut & jetties. Bike riding throughout the Plantation was so enjoyable. Forgotten Shores Team are wonderful people to do business with. We again made very special, loving memories and look forward to returning next year.

A perfect family Spring Break

We are new lot owners in the plantation and this was our first trip since buying our property in October 2023. Old Bay had it all! Great plantation location, beautiful dock, great updates to the kitchen and bathrooms. We played lots of card games, split our time between the bay and the beach, and used all the Plantation amenities. This house has a great set up for my husband and I, our 3 little kids (who loved the loft area) and my in-laws. It was a great place to recharge for the week. This was also our first time staying at a forgotten shores property and everything was easy and the house was very clean! We will be back!

Bay-tacular!

It is very well maintained & clean. We really enjoyed having the icemaker and extra fridge. The views are breathtaking! The variety of bayside birds, including two bald eagles, the dolphins, jumping mullet, gliding shark, stingrays & crabs graced us each day. We loved fishing from the dock & caught several red fish, a couple flounders & a trout. It was such a pleasure to sit out on the dock & enjoy the beauty of it all! The sunsets were spectacular! We appreciated the ease of being able to launch our kayaks from the bay beach. The short peaceful walk to the Gulf beach access was awesome & the walk to the Cut was so beautiful. We fished the Cut & catching a 37" bull red was incredible. Forgotten Shores Team were very accommodating & the beach gear credit is a great extra. We made very special, loving memories and look forward to returning next year! Thank you!

Great stay! A few suggestions

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was clean and very nice for our family. No complaints about the actual house other than the squealing/screaming pipe in the master closet wall at night, and the door being very sticky and hard to open/close from the master room to the living space. Apart from that it was fantastic! The dock was awesome for watching wild life and fishing, but I highly suggest the owners put a railing on at least one side of the walk way. It was very hard for some to make it up and down. However, It was nice for getting the kayak and paddle board in and out. It was also incredible to watch dolphins and rays pass by. There are fish that jump OUT of the water all afternoon and evening if you pay attention! You can even see it from the big windows in the living room. If you are a fisher, after sun down it is a cat fish bananza so bring gloves and pliers to avoid getting barbed. The bay beach was very fun and full of wild life! Shore line covered in hermit crabs big and small, snails and clams galore at low tide, and so much more. I do also want to note to anyone unfamiliar to the island, it is about 20 minutes drive from the house into the store front area of the island, and is very far back into the plantation itself which is large, about a quarter of the island, so I recommend this for a group or family looking to really get into the nature of the island. If so, it is GREAT!

Hi Ariel! We've since added a handrail to the dock and remodeled both downstairs bathrooms! The squealing pipe and sticky door are long gone, we can't wait to have you back for another relaxing and nature-filled visit!

The property was right on the bay with amazing views. The pool beach was in walking distance. We saw stingrays, dolphins, fish, and crab from the dock.

The dock was great for catching a few keepers and the sunsets were beautiful. Nice short walk to the beach or the cut. It was a little chilly so we didn't use the pool but looked great. Will come again.. Jamie and her staff are quick to respond if needed.
