The Wadsworth in National Historic District of Madison, Indiana.
The Wadsworth House was built in the mid-1800s. It is a fully renovated and modern Shotgun house in a quiet part of town on the east side, walkable to all events, to the river, and to shops/boutiques on Main St. Some folks living around have been living in the area all their lives. The Wadsworth House is situated on a charming tree-lined street with lots of character. Besides being a family name, it is also named The Wadsworth House in honor of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, whose poems I was forced to recite in the 5th grade! Hated it then, appreciate it now :)
One of the original owners, a carpenter, moved into the house in 1907 and added the side hall onto the east side of this shotgun house, giving it the privacy needed for the family. He had immigrated from Germany and took a job working at the button factory in town. Hardwood floors, a modernized full kitchen with granite countertops, and king-sized beds with full tiled bathrooms make this house a comforting getaway.

This property is amazing comfortable and absolutely beautiful!!! It’s located perfectly with easy access to town, restaurants and the river. Definitely the property to seek out the next time we come that way. Property owners to a wonderful job. You will need for nothing.

This property was so beautiful and many personal touches and attention to detail. It was very comfortable and we felt right at home. We especially loved sitting on back patio w our morning coffee. It was clear the owners cared about their guests in every way. We would highly recommend their place. Great location, as well.

The Wadsworth is a very beautiful, clean and well maintained home. Location is close to town and the river, Mona has the house well stocked with supplies, the beds were comfortable, she has thought of everything! The Wi-Fi served us well, we had no issues. The AC was needed the first 2 days we were there, and kept the house nice and cool, then the temps cooled off, but the house remained very comfortable.

Home was perfect for a couple getaway, the house was spotless and well equipped. Location was great for walking to meals and shopping and enjoying walks along the river.

This was a perfect home for or 3 day getaway. The location was very close to town and the river and was very comfortable for us. We would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Madison.

We've stayed here several times. Always happy with the rental. It's close to the riverfront. This time we walked to the riverfront and enjoyed watching the boats on the river. It was also close to the Milton-Madison bridge. There is a walking trail built on the side of the bridge. It was fun to walk. Madison is a neat town to visit and this VRBO makes it even more enjoyable.

The Wadsworth property in Madison, IN is just as nice as the pictures show in the listing (even nicer than expected). Everything was spotless when we arrived. There were even some snacks, coffee pods and creamer. The house is roomy and comfortable with plenty of seating. It was very nice to have a place with 2 bathrooms. The beds were comfortable and there was ample storage for our belongs. The location was perfect for us to be near family in Madison and also for activities along the Ohio River walk. We've been coming to Madison for many years and this will be our new favorite place to stay.

We absolutely loved our stay in Madison at the Wadsworth House! You couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay for a quiet get away!

Sisters trip
Very nice place, we enjoyed it and very clean!! And very well decorated and great location, close to river!!! Would recommend staying here!!!

We loved our weekend trip to Madison. The house is beautiful and great location within walking distance to just about everything. The host we great as well.

Just the perfect place to stay!
Decorating was very nice. Loved the back patio. The whole experience was just perfect. I highly recommend this property.

Weekend getaway
Very clean, easy to find, close to the river. Really enjoyed this property and will definitely stay again if we get back to Madison.

The property was very clean and the host was very attentive that we had a question or needed help with the front door lock. We will most likely come back.

We spent 9 wonderful days exploring the Madison area with this property being our base camp !! Very clean and comfortable for 4 adults ! The hostess was most accommodating which we appreciated very very much!Great home in a beautiful area of historic Madison !

I grew up in Madison! I lived on the west end of town and attended Lydia Middleton. I remember all the homes and alleys and lying on the river bank watching the slow-going Delta Queen moving along like a floating palace. Every summer day, I dreamed of how I would own one of the magnificent old houses, particularly the Shotgun House! When I graduated, I married and left for 50 years! My husband and I returned home to Madison two years ago after we retired, and are loving it!

I love quiet, tree-lined neighborhoods in a small town. I live near The Wadsworth and am very happy with the laid-back personalities of the neighbors around me. The nightlife and music are amazing in Madison, and so many places to go and see. I will have all the restaurants listed in my welcome book and flyers for you to review. The wineries are informative and delicious. Sallies Small Batch Ice Cream is homemade at their family dairy farm and is alone enough reason to come for a memorable and relaxing time in Historic Madison, Indiana! Enjoy!
Qué distingue a esta propiedad
The Wadsworth is clean and quiet. It was built in the mid-1800s and was owned by one of my neighbor's grandfathers. He immigrated from Germany and worked at the Button factory. Although this Shotgun house has been renovated on the inside to be modern, it is still easy to reminisce about the folks who came before us and settled in this area for a promising new start.
