Beautiful home on the water and very close to Houghton. The beds were really comfortable and the living room was perfect for our family to hangout.

This place was wonderful. It was our first time vacationing in the UP so we explored a bit but at the house it's easy to just slow down and relax. The water was warm enough to swim and shallow quite a ways out. The kids had fun with the paddle boards and floaties. The kiddos were able to have their own spaces to get a break. It really made the trip amazing.

Nicole is an outstanding host. Responded to our questions even when she was stranded when traveling. The house was outstanding. We spent every day enjoying the lake views from the deck. The home was clean and comfortable. We are glad having the option to stay at this home. VRBO shows no pets allowed, but confirmed with Nicole our Boston Terrier was welcome. We will plan to return again next year. Thanks again Nicole

Our experience at the home was wonderful! The house was exactly as advertised - the kitchen had all the tools we needed to make a number of meals, the sleeping accommodations were very comfortable and the house was very clean. The location was extremely convenient for us as it was just a few minute drive to Houghton and the MTU campus where we were attending our son’s graduation. Communication with the host was seamless and they quickly responded to any questions we had. Without a doubt we would book again at the house on our next trip up!

MTU Visit

Wonderful place to stay to visit my MTU student. Clean and comfortable, and amazing views across the Portage Canal. Will look to book again on another visit.

Wonderful deck for enjoying the view. The grill was great for grilling steaks. Enjoyed the paddle board and paddling Portage Lake. Clean and cozy home. Convenient location for visiting students at MTU.

Great Get a Way to visit MTU

My family has stayed here twice and it's a great place. The view of the water is relaxing. The trail is great to walk or ride your bike. It's clean and comfortable to spend time together and just have fun. Hosts are responsive and helpful.

Beautiful getaway!

Precious Gem. Great big windows looking out over a deck and lake, the perfect tree... it was great to come "Home" to this rather than a hotel room! The solar lights in the tree was a neat touch, the propane firepit was nice to have, the gas fireplace was well used... Hosys were very attentive to my wants and needs. Would definitely stay there again!

3 week stay

We stayed 3 weeks and felt very much at home. The home is comfortable, homey, and had everything we needed (well one more sauce pan would be better). Our hosts were very accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. We enjoyed walks each day along the trail along the lake behind the house and the deck was very pleasant weather permitting. The lake view was beautiful and it was a quiet location (loved listening to the waves lapping on the shore). Just one heads up if you are counting on using the desk pictured in the loft, it is no longer there. If you plan to be in the Houghton/Chassel are and are not a large group, I recommend a stay in this home.

Idyllic and peaceful. A bit difficult to find, because trees obscured the garage landmarkOnly problem was a glitch with the access keypad. Once we connected with our hosts, the problem was resolved (access pad had malfunctioned) and apologies profuse. Nicole was wonderful to deal with. Very kind and caring.Kitchen well appointed. Deck is beautiful, relaxing place to wake up or unwind. Wish I could hesitate to recommend this stay (only because I don’t want it to become so popular that i can never stay there again). But, alas, I must be honest … if you’re going to Houghton/Hancock, stay here!

We had a fabulous stay! The place was clean and fully stocked. The views were breathtaking, loved sitting and relaxing on the deck and watching the sunrise. Our boys 5 & 3 had fun playing in the water and the beach sand area making sand castles. We enjoyed using the kayaks and paddle boards. The upstairs loft area had kids games and toys they enjoyed playing. Conveniently located near downtown Houghton for food, shopping and Chutes and Ladders park (must for kids). Nicole was easy to communicate with and let us stay an additional night last minute no problem. Would definitely stay again if we return.

Great location right on the lake makes for some amazing views, especially in the evening. Delightfully decorated with comfy furniture and a deck for sunning or just taking in the view. A nearby biking/walking path gives an easy option for a pleasant stroll or good workout. Hosts were very responsive.
