Welcome to Ella's Inn in beautiful Grand Marais. This charming classic bungalow is located two blocks from the Grand Marais harbor and within walking distance to everything Grand Marais has to offer.

Our focus is to provide our guests an 'at home' feeling with clean and comfortable accommodations at a value price. A fully equipped kitchen, living room, dining room, three bathrooms and five bedrooms allow you to make Ella's Inn your home away from home.

Due to allergies, Ella's does NOT accept pets. Thank you.

First of all, the house was very clean. Nothing fancy but very comfortable with that homie feeling. It was in a great location. We had all the family there for my wife's 70th birthday and the six bedrooms were just the ticket. The living room was big enough for us all to gather. The dinning room was good too. We had a great stay and would highly recommend it.

A lovely, immaculate, and comfortable home located on a quiet street a short walk from all that Grand Marais offers. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen well equipped, with ample living room and dining room space. Six of us spent 3 days days enjoying the hiking trails and browsing the shops. It was a treat to have 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms at such an affordable price.

We had a great weekend at Ella's Inn. All 6 of us had our own bedroom which was nice since we were up north to do a fat bike race. Very homey place and the kitchen was well stocked. Would definitely stay again.

We had a nice relaxing stay. Loved the house location and all the bedrooms! Actually 6 of them. Kitchen was well equipped. Only thing I would add would be shampoo and soap or body wash in the bathrooms.

Great location with room to spread our!

Ella’s Inn was the perfect spot for out multi-generational family. The location at the base of the Gunfint Trail and within walking distance to Grand Marais made for easy access to a variety of activities and restaurants. Looking forward to another stay.

Repeat guest of Ella’s Inn

This was at least the fourth time that friends of mine and I have stayed at Ella’s Inn while on our annual skiing/hiking trip. As always Ella’s was a great place to stay. The house had everything we needed and was conveniently located to restaurants in downtown Grand Marais. We’ll definitely plan on coming back again.

We had a great time staying with friends at Ella's Inn. Very comfortable (and clean) house with lots of space in a convenient location. Walking distance to downtown Grand Marais.

Wonderful place! It was like a comforting big hug! 6 of us. Each had our own bedroom and shared 3 baths. Kitchen well stocked for cooking in yet close enough to quite a few restaurants (and shopping). Host was friendly and available but we had no problems. Perfect spot! Would definitely recommend!

Owners Terry and Lori Backlund have been married since August 2007. Both have had long family histories that tie them to Grand Marais. Terry is co-founder of Sven and Ole's and current owner/broker of Backlund Realty. After a long career with General Motors, Lori finally made her move to Grand Marais.

We both enjoy skiing, tennis, golf and most of all, riding our Harleys.

The community's Arrowhead Center for the Arts hosts performances ranging from locally produced plays to national recording artists. The renowned North House Folk School attracts students from across the country with its curriculum of folk arts and crafts and construction skills. Founded in 1947, the Grand Marais Art Colony is the oldest art colony in the state. The Johnson Heritage post has continuous showings of works by local and regional artists.

Ella's Inn is only two to four blocks from most attractions including great dining, shopping and picturesque harbor views.
