This award winning studio, nestled among pinon and juniper, offers the unique experience of a relaxing get-away just minutes from fine dining, museums, galleries, shopping, cafes, hiking trails and much more.

Whether it's business, pleasure, a romantic getaway or a private retreat, Upper Canyon Studio provides the perfect setting with it's beautiful open plan and interplay of indoor-outdoor space. Open the 12 foot sliding glass doors and the living area seamlessly flows into an elegant, minimalist courtyard. Combining sophisticated design with simplicity and comfort, Upper Canyon Studio is perfect for singles and couples.

This beautiful private, studio has a working kitchen, full bath, living space, queen bed, walk-in closet, courtyard, security system, radiant floor heating, air conditioning, and off street parking.

Payment
Full payment and a signed lease are required. Your signed lease must be received within 24 hours of booking. Tenants pay all payment fees to be deducted from the damage deposit.

Short and long term stays are available. Weekly rates apply to stays of 7 nights or more. Monthly rates apply to stays of 30 consecutive nights or more. Rates and amenities are subject to change without notice, please inquire prior to making a reservation.

A 3 night minimum stay is required except during holidays when a 5 night minimum stay is required. Please contact the owner for more information.

Personal Retreat
Upper Canyon Studio is perfectly suited as a private and peaceful retreat space for creative inspiration, meditation and self-renewal. Resources for yoga, pilates, body work, hot springs, alternative practitioners and healthy food options are provided to make your visit more enjoyable.

Eco-Friendly
At Upper Canyon Studio we are committed to the environment and sustainability. We use and provide only non-toxic, ‘green’ cleaning product, toiletries and recycled paper products; we also recycle and offer (optional) composting for extended stays. This is a non-smoking property and pets are allowed on a case by case basis. We strive to provide a non-toxic, low-allergy environment. We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate those with environmental sensitivities, please contact us for further details.

High Desert Bliss

This property contributed greatly to our enjoyable stay in Santa Fe! The location, lack of toxic chemical fragrance and modern design were not only in alignment with us but made our stay very peaceful and comfortable. The private courtyard and window with views of nature were much enjoyed.Tushita was very accommodating and communicative while respecting our privacy. Impeccably clean and relaxing stay

The property was wonderful and the host was very helpful. The kitchen was well equipped, and had all that I needed. There was plenty of natural light and windows with beautiful views. It was a perfect distance from anything you’d want to do from the square, railyard district and canyon road. I’ll definitely stay here again!

Great place!

We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for three nights. The place was clean and well stocked. Good communication with the owner. She was there at check in for questions we had. Place is nestled in the mountain side surrounded by pines. Excellent place!

Nature refuge

This "refuge" was perfect for my wife.Susan and I. Waking up to the sounds of birds and sitting on the patio will stay in our memeries. Swank, private and special

My husband, baby and I stayed here and LOVED it! Location is super, only about 10 minute (enjoyable) walk to Canyon Road Galleries. Wonderful amenities, very thoughtfully appointed Studio and truly a delight to stay at! Highly recommend, the pictures look really nice, but when you arrive it is even better.

Fantastic Studio

My wife and I spent three days at Upper Canyon Studio and our stay could not have been nicer. The owner is wonderful and makes you feel at home; she is available but never intrusive and takes great care of the details, like fresh Stumptown coffee beans and a Chemex for our morning coffee! The studio, itself, is ideally located just a few miles from the Square - close enough to access in minutes, but far enough to escape the crowds. We could not recommend it more highly. We look forward to returning!

Wonderful Retreat

We just spent a week at Studio East, and as other reviewers have indicated, it is all that is listed and much more. Tushita has thought of everything in this wonderfully comfortable, beautiful, quiet and serene space. The studio is near Canyon Road and Museum Hill, and only minutes from the Plaza, but worlds away. There were lovely touches like gourmet coffee and fresh flowers upon arrival, and plenty of guidebooks for local sightseeing. On a clear night, sit in the private courtyard and enjoy the thousands of stars! We look forward to a return visit!

Serenity

This beautiful property is a welcome respite from the tourist madness that is only about 10 minutes down the mountain if you miss it. Tushita's beautiful, minimalist interior and open plan compliment the landscape and offer a relaxing, serene getaway. She has thought of everything for the comfort of your stay and is helpful but is unobtrusive. We gladly let the soothing sound system and complimentary organic coffee delay the start of our day by several hours…We found ourselves looking forward to returning at the end of the day – we will definitely be back.

Perfect Respite From Winter

The studio is small (as expected) but well designed and well appointed - lots of light and privacy. In fact, it’s quite ideal for a couple’s getaway. The location allows for convenient access to restaurants and museums as well as innumerable art galleries. The studio does not have a washer or dryer so packing well is important. We really enjoyed exploring the national parks as well as the local restaurants and would recommend Luminaria Restaurant for brunch as well as Bandelier National Monument in Los Alamos, in particular. Market Street grocery store on N. Guadalupe St will have any items you may have forgotten to pack.

Great! (But with some minor issues)

The place was great, and the host was lovely. The space was clean, and peaceful. The radiant floor heating was perfect for my winter stay. The location was convenient and close to town. Just a couple unexpected issues. After booking, I received a separate lease from the host, which I understand protects the owner, but was surprised to have to read through a legal document for such a short stay. The lease mentioned I’d be responsible for credit card fees, which I agreed to, but assumed were included in what I paid while booking through the app. But after returning home, I was surprised to see an additional charge for 'damages'. The host clarified it wasn't for damages, but was the credit card fee. Even though I understood this, it just didn't feel great to get home and have an additional charge, especially after assuming I’d already paid in full. And honestly a little stressful to see a ‘damages’ message show up in my VRBO messages. But otherwise a pleasant stay.

Minimalism Rules

This is a beautiful studio, spacious for one or two people. If you love minimalism [a rarity to find in SF] this is for you; everything one needs on vacation and nothing extraneous. A well furnished and outfitted space that is meticulously maintained; scrubbed of previous renters' detritus; true to the SF esthetic without being cartoonish. Real privacy and quiet; the space is bright and the lighting [plenty of dimmers] is sexy, including the zen courtyard at night. There are plenty of current/timely guides provided for culture, dining and trails, and the host is knowledgeable, too. It is a 20-minute walk to the commercial beginning of the top of Canyon Road [and 20 minutes back, up hill] and around double that to the Plaza. My host was charming and then invisible but accessible when needed. Through a few decades of vacation renting in SF, this is the first one I would return to. Really.

Must visit

I must give credit to my partner who found this cute little studio. Visiting NM for 1 week, the idea of eating out 3 times a day is worry some on the pocket book. This cute, private studio has a full kitchen, stove, small fridge, microwave so stocking up from the local stores like Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Albertsons and Katawa Chocolates, we could save money by eating in. Cook a meal and eat in the small private courtyard in front of the Kiva and see the moon and stars. The owner took the time to personally greet us, and spent time sharing local must sees (she also provided great local listings) and to ensure we had all that we needed for a comfortable stay. The money we saved from eating out only 1 big meal a day, we spent on exploring the many museums and sights that are easily day trips from this strategically located studio. Easy day trips included Taos, Rio Grande Gorge, Abiquiu, Los Alamos and of course historical down town Santa Fe. If we ever visit Santa Fe again, we will definitely stay here. Laura & Maureen

Perfect location, clean, quiet and comfortable

Perfect location, close to everything but off the beaten path so you can decompress. We walked our dog all around the neighborhood and found everything we needed within a 15 minute drive. The studio is very quiet and cozy. The heated floors and adjustable lighting makes everything feel comfortable and calm.

Upper Canyon Studio is an owner-operated vacation rental, situated on 3/4 acres in the heart of Santa Fe, yet 5 minutes from restaurants, shopping, galleries, museums, and hiking. I purchased the property in 2007, designed, renovated, and began offering it as a vacation rental in 2008. Located off the road and surrounded by pinon and juniper, UCS offers the best of both worlds, a private getaway in the heart of the city.

As a designer, I wanted to create a modern environment, that still maintained a sense of place, which would give travelers a beautiful, peaceful, and unique Santa Fe experience.

We are committed to sustainability and use only natural cleaning products, offer composting, recycling, and provide organic coffee and teas. EV charging is also available for an additional fee. Only professional cleaners and maintenance workers are hired and UCS is certified in Covid safe cleaning practices.

The owner is available 24/7 to address any issues that may arise or to answer questions regarding your visit. A resource folder is provided with local restaurant suggestions, bike rentals, local activities, etc.

At Upper Canyon Studio, our intention is to provide a safe, beautiful and serene environment. A place to come back to and decompress at the end of a busy day or enjoy as a private retreat.
