Best Casita: A Hidden Jewel Next To The Plaza.

This hidden jewel only a block from Taos Plaza is part of a historical hacienda style adobe that once housed nuns working at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Newly and tastefully renovated, the interior was designed with comfort and convenience in mind, and it features high ceilings, a well appointed kitchen, oak floors, a kiva fireplace, and a cozy living area. An old apple tree and a plum tree stand in a small, grassy courtyard that feels almost Mediterranean in it's serenity. It is located on a quiet one-way street only one block west of the Taos plaza.

Gas range and a large collection of cooking supplies. French door refrigerator, microwave. Full size washer and dryer, heated bathroom floor, a gas heating stove and a kiva fireplace. Electric baseboard heater in bedroom, ceiling fans. Premium linens and a down comforter and pillows; a comfortable plush/firm Queen mattress. Full sleeper sofa with memory foam topped mattress. High speed internet, HDTV, Blue Ray/DVD player, surround sound entertainment system, NetFlix streaming on Roku, Pandora/Spotify/Apple Airplay ready stereo system.

The location of the apartment is one of it's greatest assets. From the front door, a five minute walk will reach twelve restaurants, dozens of galleries, the best coffee in town (The World Cup), Shree Yoga Studio, Smith's grocery store, the Bent Street shopping district, Ledoux Street, and of course, the Taos Plaza.

Quiet and stylish

The Best Casita was great! The location and parking were excellent, and the casita was beautifully and thoughtfully furnished. It had all the modern conveniences with a nod to the original adobe. Loved entering through the peaceful courtyard.

Walkable to Taos Plaza

Good location near the main shopping Taos Plaza, and close to the main road (64), and walkable to several restaurants. Very clean unit and the sleeper sofa made the additional bed we needed. A nice bonus was the heated floors in the bathroom.

Super Host!

Marcus was a phenomenal host. He provided great recommendations for area attractions and dining. The location was fantastic and Marcus provided so many nice touches like wine, yogurt and tea. It was a lovely stay and we'll be sure to bookmark this condo for future trips!

Womderful Casita in Taos

My wife and I had a splendid five day holiday in Taos. We stayed at a beautiful one bedroom Casita a block from the Main Plaza. Marcus was a wonderful host and welcomed us upon our arrival. He showed us around the place and gave us great advice on things to do and places to eat in Taos. The Casita was extremely clean and comfortable and had all the amenities. We hope to come back!

Great place great host

The Padre Martinez property is perfect for our visits of two to three weeks. Marcus is a congenial and generous host/owner and we have thoroughly enjoyed our stays at this property.

Great Place

Everything at this place was high end, appliances, comfortable bed, towel and even a stocked pantry. Close to the plaza and many great eating places. Fun to shop and people watch. Had a wonderful time and would return. Marcus was wonderful, he even gave us some folding chairs to use, so we could go and sit in the plaza for the music concert on Thursday nights. 5+ stars!!!!!

Well appointed spot . I’ve stayed there twice now, and enjoyed it each time immensely. Close to the town square. Comfy bed. Walking distance to most things you’ll probably need . Recommend highly !

Beautiful and very Taos. The quiet courtyard was super delightful and relaxing. After relaxing, it's a short two minute stroll to the plaza! One of the best in town at a very reasonable rate.

Relaxing

Was met by the property owner and he showed us where everything was, gave suggestions on places to see. We were there for an Anniversary get away could not have asked for a better place to stay. We were a block from the Plaza and were able to walk everywhere that we wanted to go. Will most definitely stay here again.

Loved this place, very well equipped perfect for our family of 4. The kitchen is well stocked with quality pans and utensils, not the cheap stuff you usually find in rental properties, they even have a nespresso machine and provide capsules for your stay, nice touch! The one recommendation I have for the owners, it might be time to upgrade the sofa bed, not an issue for my two young kids, but maybe for older kids or adults. Location is in the heart of Taos. Would love to come back soon!!!!

Cozy Casita by the Plaza

This was a great place and I would definitely not hesitate to stay here again! It is extremely close to the plaza. Kitchen and pantry was very well stocked with all essentials. Kiva fireplace was excellent (especially on nights like we stayed were it was coming a blizzard outside). The hosts were great and could easily be contacted by phone or text throughout the stay. The welcome bottle of wine was a great addition!

Excellent place to stay in Taos. Short walk to historic Plaza and restaurants. The unit was very clean and well appointed. Marcus was an excellent host. He shared with us the key things to see during our stay. He even left us a welcome bottle of wine! Would book this unit again on our next visit to Taos.

I'm the luckiest guy I know. I'm truly thankful to be a part of this beautiful community and also be able to travel often and far. I've been welcomed into people's homes all over the world, and though I've been fairly nomadic most of my life, now for the first time I have my own place, which I have renovated and am offering as a getaway for fellow travelers to enjoy.

I grew up in Snyder, Texas, surrounded by pump jacks and fields of cotton. In the summers when I was a kid, my family would pile into the Good Times van and hit the road for weeks, escaping the 110 degree West Texas heat: Vermont, Florida, Wyoming, northern California, and all in between. When I was fourteen I spent a summer in Germany on an exchange program, and since then I've been hooked on travel. I studied biology writing in college and after graduating worked for the Fish & Wildlife Department in Alaska for a summer. I then worked in Nicaragua as a carpenter for over a year and slowly made my way to Taos, New Mexico, where I've lived for almost thirteen years.

My most recent journey was a 16-month solo motorcycle trip around the world and to the bottom of Africa.

Taos has a lot to offer for a lover of the outdoors like myself. I spend a lot of time in the nearby mountains, skiing, hiking with my dogs, fishing, biking, and motorcycling. I've always enjoyed many sports, and I regularly play soccer, tennis, basketball, and volleyball.

I've always been somewhat of a nomad, but I've found my home base in Taos. I try to live simply and wanted a small but comfortable place in town, but I've never been attracted to typical condominiums. I wanted character and history, something with personality that I could make my own. I knew when I first saw it that this property was exactly what I had been looking for.

The location of Best Casa is remarkable. It is just far enough from the main roads that you can't tell your in the heart of Taos, but so close to the center that just about everything you need is within walking distance. The apartment itself has an old-world feel, with double adobe walls and classic mid-century windows. I've always thought of the kitchen as the heart of any home, and this kitchen is the focal point of the apartment; designed with simplicity and functionality in mind. Though the apartment still has a historic feel, it also features high-tech comforts that you won't find in most Taos adobes. You can access and control your music wirelessly through the entertainment system or send movies or videos from your portable device to the HDTV. The tile floor of the bathroom is heated (very nice for bare feet in the morning), and there's even a heated mirror that won't fog up after you take a shower.

When I completed the renovation, which took five months, I was very satisfied with the result, but I didn't truly fall in love with the place until I stayed there myself for a week. Best Casa is truly a hidden gem.
