The Gosling - North Bethany, Sussex Shores, Ocean Block with Private Beach!

We welcome our 'extended family' to The Gosling! 2025 celebrates our 20th year of offering 'The Gosling' as a rental property.

'The Gosling' is located in Sussex Shores which is the first private community north of Fifth Street and the Town of Bethany Beach. It is within walking or biking distance to town, shopping, and restaurants (less than half mile from town center). Sussex Shores is a quiet, family-oriented community with a private beach, private roads, and off-street parking.

Access to the community and beach is controlled by private security. Because it is a private beach, it is never crowded and has a staff of full-time lifeguards from mid-June through Labor Day weekend. Once you stay in Sussex Shores, you will forever be spoiled and will never want to return to a crowded public beach!!

The house is located 75 yards from the dunes and is a one-story (Deceptively large once inside) - no hassling with staircases! The Master Bedroom has a queen bed. Bedroom #2 has two sets of built-in twin bunk beds. Bedroom #3 has two twin beds. Bedroom #4 has two twin beds. All bedrooms are located on the back side of the house, separated from the living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry area by a hallway. The sunroom opens off the kitchen, dining area and screened porch. There is an excellent outdoor shower with changing area - you'll never want to shower indoors again!

In addition to the listed amenities, our beach house features a living room and dining area, a sunroom, and screened porch complete with outdoor stereo speakers. A detached shed is provided for storage of your beach gear - bikes, chairs, umbrellas, rafts, boogie boards, surf boards, fishing rods, etc. Beach chairs and a beach umbrella are provided. Porch / Sunroom Awnings - Providing additional privacy and afternoon shade. Hardwood Floors throughout the house. Granite kitchen & bathroom counter tops.

Weekly Rentals are Friday to Friday, thus avoiding weekend traffic snarls! Maid service (at the conclusion of your visit) is included in the rental fee, as well as the Sussex Shores Beach Association Rental Assessment.

The Bethany Bike Shop which offers rental bikes and kayaks is conveniently located within walking distance. They offer a full compliment of rental bikes for adults and children.

Amazing beach rental!

We had such a great time at the Gosling. It was super clean and as pictured in the photos. It was very comfortable and felt like we were in our own home. We especially loved that it was walking distance to the beach and the beach was private, and was super quiet. The outdoor shower was excellent! We hope to return next year.

Exceptional !

The Gosling is a fantastic feel at home property in Bethany Beach. Our family enjoyed the open areas of the house but you could always find your own quiet area if desired. The rooms are spacious and all are adorned with beachy decor that makes your stay that much more enjoyable. The grounds are well maintained and offer a variety of shady spots even on the sunniest of days. And don't sleep on the outdoor shower, it's tremendous! The beach is a short walk away and town is a very enjoyable walk. Communication with the owner was always at the fingertips but never required. Book your stay at the Gosling, you won't regret it.

Great Getaway

A great week at the beach! The Gosling was very clean and the location can’t be beat. The Sussex Shores beach is the best because it isn’t crowded. Art was easy to work with. Hope to return next summer!

The home was beautiful yet very comfortable for us and my daughter’s family. Very short walk to a private beach. Everything we needed was provided from beach items to cleaning and disinfecting products. Perfect community as welll. Many thanks to the owners. We hope to return next year!!

Beautiful home in excellent location

Our family had a great time staying at the Gosling. Art was a kind and helpful host, and the home was extremely well equipped. As we were traveling with two little ones, that was much appreciated. There was an abundance of beach supplies, which made our packing much, much easier. The neighborhood of Sussex Shores in north Bethany Beach was perfect. This private beach wasn't crowded, and was close enough to walk into the quaint Bethany downtown area. Further, the home is well maintained and spacious, and our family had a wonderful time. We'd highly recommend this property and we hope to have an opportunity to stay at the Gosling in the future!

Wonderful!!

Wow, what a charming beach cottage!! It’s filled with natural light, meticulously maintained, feels like ‘home’, fully equipped with beach gear, cooking supplies, everything we needed to make our week absolutely perfect. The location is amazing as well… 3 minute walk to the beach and less than 15 minutes to town. We can’t wait to return!!

All The Comforts Of Home!

My husband and I rented this lovely home along with our adult daughters and their boyfriends. The home was very comfortable and had all of the conveniences for a great vacation. We spent many mornings on the sun porch having our coffee and many happy hour evenings on the outdoor picnic table! The kitchen was very well stocked. Cooking dinner was a breeze! The beach toys, chairs, umbrella, and cart were an added plus too! Also, the beach is a convenient walk up the street, no roads to cross, and it is private! No crowds and no worries to finding that perfect location next to the water! The owner is very responsive and keeps this home immaculate! This was the perfect rental!

Great vacation home!

We had a lovely experience at the Gosling! Perfect house for one or two young families. We appreciated the sand toys, boogie boards, and well stocked kitchen. Great location too! The owner was very responsive to our questions. We’d love to stay here again!

Perfect!

We stayed here with my elderly parents and children under 5 years old. Having everything on one level w minimal steps was amazing! The location made it easy to walk to the beach and come back to the house if anyone needed a nap or forgot something. The neighborhood is quiet and great for walks. It’s an easy walk to restaurants and shops as well. Definitely highly recommend!

Wonderful stay

We had an amazing time at The Gosling. The house was stocked with everything you need and more! Beautiful house and great location on the private beach but still close to town. Hosts were wonderful and very quick to respond. We will definitely be back!

Years of Satisfaction

We have stayed at The Gosling for many years now, and we haven't been disappointed yet! The house is clean, homey, and the perfect size for our bunch. The walk to the beach is short, and it's in the perfect location for a variety of activities, including a day spent on a beautiful private beach. The owner is friendly, responsive to questions or concerns, and a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend spending time at The Gosling and are looking forward to next year's visit already!

Great stay in a wonderful community

Cozy cottage in a quiet neighborhood on private beach. Great stay for families -- easy beach access and quiet roads for children to bike and ride scooters. Plenty of space to accommodate our two families. Wake up slowly with breakfast on the screened porch. Occasionally the national guard band provides musical interludes via marching band practicing across the street. Easy walk to center of town for entertainment and lovely farmer's market. Thank you for another wonderful stay!

A great stay!

We had a wonderful stay at the Gosling, and Art made the process very easy. would definitely come back! The house had a great layout for our needs (we had two young children, and it's a single floor), and it's close to the beach, with a lot of beach equipment, and other useful things (like scooters for the kids) in the shed.

Very nice house

My husband and I brought our two young children to stay at this house for a week. The house was very nice and spacious and had been cleaned well before we arrived. We especially enjoyed the access to the private beach, which was about a one minute walk so was quite convenient. Travel to town was also close, about a ten minute walk or a short drive. This was our second time visiting Bethany Beach and we like that it is a small fairly quiet town. Will definitely consider coming to stay here again.

Beautiful home, kept clean and up-date. A wonderful respite from a day on the beach.

This home was perfect for our family’s vacation in Bethany Beach. It’s just a short walk to the beach, and we could walk to downtown. The home is truly a ‘home’; it was great to come back to at the end of the day. We will absolutely return to this lovely home.
