The Owl Forest Studio is designed to soothe the senses, offering a respite from a day of sightseeing or other activity, and provide you with a comfortable, upscale haven for rejuvenating your body and enhancing your relationship.

The interior of the Owl Studio offers a comfortable king bed with Tuft n Needle mattress, upscale linens, & flat screen TV with streaming capability. For your business needs free high speed wireless internet is available.
The kitchenette is fully equipped with all you might need to create your meals and a gas BBQ awaits the chef out on the patio. Please note that we do not have an oven available. Seating is available both indoors and out. We will be happy to provide you with a list of our kitchen inventory to help your planning.
The bathroom has a walk-in shower with a skylight in the shower. You will find our Garden Studio cozy, but with room for everything. The studio is attached to the home, the entry is private to our guests only. Mobility Impaired Friendly: From the driveway to the the studio, the terrain is flat, with one-step curb onto the deck. The entry doorway is 36 inches wide. There are no stairs inside, the shower is walk-in, with a 5" threshold. Not wheelchair accessible, although toilet is the higher model. Outside: there are 4 wide steps down from the deck to the patio area where the hot tub, BBQ, picnic table and swing are located.
A light footprint
In creating our Portland Garden Studio, one of our goals was to recycle and re-purpose as much as possible. We had fun doing it and thought we’d share this list with our guests:
*The masonry for the patio came from a Portland school when they updated.
*The rocks that surround the patio were buried in the gardens here from the ‘50s.
*The decking was removed from Rob’s brother’s house and reinstalled.
*The deck framing and masonry supports came from a Craig’s List ad - the owners were re-designing their back yard.
*The ceiling in the apartment is original. We removed the sheetrock, painted the beams, and left the fir attic decking alone. If you look carefully at the ceiling you’ll see the blue grading marks on the lumber from 1945 or so: 3,3,3,2,3 etc.
*The wood frames inside the wall niches came from old cedar barn wood.
*In early 2015, we installed a photovoltaic solar panel system on the roof. You can’t see it from the driveway or the guest side of the house, but it produces enough electricity to power almost all the needs of the house, including the hot tub.
We try to not use any herbicides, and recycle just about everything that the recycling people will take.
Come on over. We'll leave the light on for you. GLBT Friendly
NOTE: The driveway is monitored for security purposes.
Lawn service scheduled for Monday mornings 9:30 -10:30. Expect noise on your driveway and there will briefly be someone in your area blowing off deck.

Por qué eligió esta propiedad
We fell in love with the park-like yard in 1976. The big Doug firs in the front offer a unique forested setting in a busy neighborhood. It's a great place to relax, and back in the day, it was a great place for our children to play. You might see the zip-line which is still used by our visiting grandchildren and the remnants of the tree fort Rob build for our kids!
Qué distingue a esta propiedad
Although the apartment is attached to our home, the area is completely surrounded by a 6ft fence (Rob's handiwork) that offers a quality of privacy that makes it feel like there are two separate homes here. We have two (almost) completely separate living spaces. We love being able to meet and greet our guests, but rarely see you after you arrive, unless you seek us out. We are available, but not intrusive. With the advent of Covid, we can offer you a completely contact-free arrival and departure.
The location is great, just 2 blocks off the freeway and in a neighborhood area that is spread out, with no houses looming over us. The #78 bus stops here, which is handy and downtown Portland is only about a 15 minute drive.
