Absolutely gorgeous area to visit! The location is perfect! The hostess is such a dream and has the home fully stocked as a functional home-away-from-home. It was one of the easiest VRBO sites to stay in because it had everything needed and more. We will definitely be back frequently!

Our stay along Cornet Bay on Whidbey Island was absolutely amazing and our kids are already asking when we can go back! Terrill was a wonderful host, and his mother Mimi, who lives in a separate house on the property, made our visit truly special with her warm welcome and generosity throughout the stay. The house itself was spacious and quiet, giving us the perfect relaxing home base after busy days of exploring. Our kids loved lounging in the orchard hammock, picking fresh fruit, and spending every spare minute with Mimi's adorable and well-behaved dogs. The area offers so much to explore, with incredible trails just a short walk away and restaurants, shops, cafes, and grocery stores a quick drive away in Oak Harbor. We'd also highly recommend visiting Ebey's Landing and taking the kayaks out on Cornet Bay. This was hands down one of the best vacation rentals we've stayed at, and we can't wait to plan our next visit!

We had an amazing stay at this house. Host was extremely responsive to all our questions we had and super friendly. Had fresh eggs and plums from the property. Ideal location right next to Deception State Park. Highly recommend to stay here!

Laid back, informal, perfect

We were made to feel like family. Great time boating with the launch basically next door. Overnight moring available both at the launch and and the marina directly across the street.

Wonderful stay

Perfect location and friendly owner

We enjoyed the house and beautiful surroundings for 5 days in November while visiting family nearby. Home is comfortable and has amazing access to one of the most beautiful places on earth. We are grateful for this family to share such a special place.

The house was great and the view of the water was nice. The location was so good because we were close to Deception Pass and a short drive to Anacortes as well as Oak Harbor. We enjoyed the fresh eggs the hostess left in the refrigerator. It was a lot of fun to be there.

Vacation/Explore Area

Wonderful spot to take in the gardens while relaxing on a hammock, eating outside at one of the many tables available and explore Deception Pass Park. We enjoyed our time here and received a wonderful welcoming tour that made us feel comfortable and welcomed. Will stay again when opportunity knocks.

We loved, loved, loved our stay. It was peaceful, and it was so close to the water and Deception Pass State Park. We boated, hiked, and went crabbing. The house was clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was in the house. Mimi, the care-taker was fantastic, helping us with whatever was needed while providing us privacy to enjoy our stay. Would definitely return.

Mimi was the best host! Our kids loved her! This was a very special place to stay with views of the ocean and marine wild life sightings. Our host was so sweet! She showed us an orchard out back where we could pick fresh fruit. It was delicious. She also helped our kids feed the local deer and brought toys out for our family to play with. One of the best places we have ever stayed for overall experience!

Beautiful property! The check in was very easy and the owner was very accommodating for a later check in time. The neighborhood was very quiet for a relaxing evening after being able to easily sight see since the location was close Deception Pass and Anacortes. We also saw a lot of wildlife (e.g., birds and deer). We would absolutely rebook for another stay!!

Great visit to Deception Pass area

We had a very nice time visiting the area. The home and amenities were all perfect for our stay. Mimi was very helpful and so kind. She is really a special feature of staying in this home. We enjoyed the close access to the water for kayaking and for the gorgeous scenery. It was very fun to feed the local neighborhood deer from the porch and have access to a variety of fruit in season. Fresh eggs from the chickens were a wonderful treat too. Definitely a perfect location for visiting the Deception Park area, Anacortes, and Whidbey Island!

Good birding

Enjoyed the stay. Very quiet and relaxing. Good birding opportunities. Lots of blue heron, eagles, osprey, black swift and many more. Saw Orca whales, harbor seals and porporsies. Thanks

Fabulous !

So glad we got to stay at the Cornet Bay house. It’s a quiet, relaxing and beautiful neighborhood. I enjoyed walking down the the beach several times. The experience of hand feeding the deer was unexpected and such a joy! Mimi is just the sweetest host and made sure e had everything we needed to be comfortable. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit.

Nice Deception Pass Getaway!

if you have a doggy and wanna be close to the park and bridge this was a pretty dang ideal place to stay. nice, quiet neighborhood. very nice that they have plenty of fresh water for consumption as the tap water does have the sulfur-y problem that lots of places have as you go north towards the islands. the bed that we slept in was plenty comfy and the kitchen had all that we needed for preparing meals. would definitely stay here again.

Loved it!

We spent almost half of our 11-day visit to the Pacific Northwest at this charming house, and if we had it to do over again, we would have spent even more time here. The location, directly across from the Cornet Bay Marina, is perfect and picturesque, and our lovely host, Mimi, took great care in providing us with everything we needed and then some. We did not realize how big the property was, but our kids loved hanging out in the hammocks in the garden, picking fresh plums and apples from the fruit trees and feeding some to the deer who came to visit each day. Mimi shared fresh vegetables, clams and eggs with us, and even took us up to the top of Mount Erie, where we enjoyed an incredible view. Having kayaks available - a definite bonus - and Deception Pass State Park is a gem. The bridge walk was amazing - as expected - but the state park has even more to offer. Lots of cool trails. One of the best calls of our whole vacation was to book here.

Deception Pass Retreat.

Nice cabin with a view of the bay. Being next to state park offered great hiking . great kayaking opportunity or just relaxing on the deck. The very large fenced yard was great for the dog. Cabin was very comfortable, very clean and furnished with all the essentials. Mimi (our host) made sure everything was perfect. Also she provide extras like organic eggs from her flock, apples and vegetables from the garden if we needed. We were visiting relatives in Anacortes, so 15 minutes out was perfect plus allowed our personal time so as not to be a burden on them. WE were able to enjoy the area and the many restaurants in Anacortes. Between hiking, visiting relatives eating great seafood, and a GREAT whale watch, there was not enough time to just relax in the three days we stayed. Our only regret was not staying longer. Certainly will consider for future trips. I would recommend for anybody, especially those with small family (very comfortable for 4).

Very sweet.

Mimi (Terrill’s) mom is a doll. She met us there, gave us a full tour of the property and gardens, inviting us to share the growing herbs, etc. The beds were super comfortable and so we slept well. There was a very large screened smart tv which was great. Great kitchen as far as utensils. Very clean. And above all, it was walking distance to the beautiful Hoypus Point set of trails. The old road bed follows along the shoreline, and is an easy flat walk. If you go up into the woods, you will see many of the very large and beautiful cedars, Douglas firs, spruce, etc. Spring was just starting so in another week or so, (mid-April) there would have been an abundance of wildflowers. There were 2 things I didn’t like. One was out of the control of the owners and that is the noise from the jets originating from the naval base on the island. Although you can just ignore it, they are very loud, The only critical comment I have about the house is that it just has too many Knick-knacks for my taste. I felt like all the little things were just in the way. I would suggest decluttering it a bit. It feels like someone had a very successful trip to the flea market. Oh and great spot to have your dog as the property is well fenced.

Yes, there is a Navy base on the island. Every once in a while you may see or hear a jet flying through the sky (sometimes the Blue Angels), but we don't notice or hear them and guests typically don't notice or mention to us. But yes, out of our hands. Us locals jokingly call this "the sound of freedom." Also, the reason the Navy base was built on Whidbey is that our area typically has more sunny and dry days than the rest of Western Washington due to it being in the Olympic rain shadow. Its a slight trade off, but well worth it!

This was a great place to stay! Mimi was very friendly and generous and showed us around the beautiful property with fresh fruit we could snack on. The inside was very clean and comfortable. Will definitely go back if we stay near deception pass again in the future!
