Downtown Hood River Craftsman Bungalow - Across the street from Children's Park

*Please read the entire listing description prior to booking.*

Enjoy vintage charm and a convenient downtown location in our classic 1918 Craftsman Bungalow. Sip your morning coffee and evening wine on the front porch under the wisteria sitting in the rocking chairs or at the bistro table. Walk directly across the street with your children to the Children's Park featuring amazing new play structures, picnic tables, and room for kid's to run and play. When you're ready to explore, it's just a short walk to the core downtown district, which offers fine dining, boutiques, craft breweries, wineries, and Mike's Ice Cream! After your daily adventures windsurfing, kiteboarding, mountain biking, hiking, wine tasting, and exploring the gorge - return to the Hood River Bungalow for a barbecue on the Weber Silver Summit Series gas grill (June-Sept). Finish your day relaxing in front of the 50" Plasma TV for a family movie night.

Features Include:
* 3 bedrooms - 2 Bedrooms with Queen Beds with memory foam mattresses and one bedroom with 2 twin beds. (Based on the size of the Bungalow and how it is stocked, we typically limit occupancy to a max of 4 adults.)
* 2 Full Bathrooms - The upstairs bathroom is small and kitschy and has a shower; the downstairs bathroom has a claw foot tub.
* Custom Cherry wood cabinets in kitchen, wide plank pine floors with antique cut nails.
* 50" High Definition Panasonic Plasma Display, Blu-Ray DVD player with Netflix and other streaming services (no cable).
* Cambridge Soundworks audio unit with BlueTooth connectivity.
* High Speed Internet and WIFI
* Small fenced backyard with Weber Summit Silver Gas Grille (June-Sept Only).
* Front porch with seating and views of the east valley hills.
* Peekaboo views of Mt. Adams and the Columbia River from the upstairs north bedroom allow you to check the wind from the house.

Other things to note:

* The City of Hood River limits the number of nights Hosts are permitted to rent; unfortunately, this means that all requests cannot accepted. Requests that are friendly, respectful, indicate why you are coming to Hood River, and who is in your group are more likely to be accepted. Bonus points if you have a completed personal profile and/or 3 or more positive Host reviews.

** Children - There are not outlet covers, cabinet latches, barriers around the heating stove or baseboard heater. The kitchen island has glass cabinet doors.

*** There is one security camera mounted over the front entry to the Bungalow - it is oriented towards the driveway and entry.

Summer
1. June-September bookings requires a 3 night minimum stay.
2. June - September: Summer season is very busy with tight turn-around times, so unfortunately we cannot accommodate early check ins or late check outs during these months.
3. Weber Summit Silver Gas Grille (June-Sept Only)

Winter
1. For Winter stays, heat is provided by a gas heating stove, baseboard heater, and freestanding oil heater, which do a good job if used properly. The house is over 100 years old, so there is not central heat.
2. During times of heavy snow, the plow can make a berm in front of the driveway that must be either navigated or shoveled.

Darling House in Perfect Location

This was the perfect place to stay with our children, ages 6 and 3. Many happy hours were spent at the amazing playground across the street--how convenient! The house was cozy and welcoming. The kids loved the skylight in their room and we all loved breakfast by the wood stove on chilly spring mornings. Drew is a wonderful owner; he is so friendly and helpful. We could easily walk downtown and all around from this house--the perfect springboard from which to jump into the day's adventures. We would highly recommend this house to other travelers to the Hood River area. What a joy it was! --Tiffany, Central Washington State

Great location! Charming cozy bungalow!

We had a great stay. Perfect location, easy and beautiful walk to downtown. Cozy house (we live in a 100+ year old house too!) Lots of room for family (if we'd brought them). Comfy beds. Nice and quiet. Host was very helpful. Don't hesitate to ask how something works! Would definitely stay there again.

Charming, warm, and inviting.

This house was even more charming than the photos show. The owner was very pleasant and professional. His response time to any questions was immediate. We all loved the 100 year old Home and would love to stay there again. The house was so clean when we arrived and it was easy to feel welcomed. The house was in the perfect location for us, as we went into town often. Thank you Drew! We can’t wait to come again.

Great location and a charming house!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the downtown craftsman bungalow! It is in the perfect location, walking distance to downtown with a park across the street. It had it’s quirks, but as someone who loves older houses, it was well laid out and extremely charming. Drew was an excellent host! We called him a few times with questions and he picked up immediately and was very helpful.

Nice and comfortable!!!

This is a great place to stay, loved the gas fireplace to take the chill off and to sit in front of and drink coffee in the morning. Although it is two bathrooms only one had a shower, so it took a little planning in the morning or evening. Beds were super comfortable and the house was very welcoming!! Definitely stay here again if I ever come back to Hood River.

Charming Bungalow

We loved our stay in Hood River! Great location to explore Mt Hood, white water rafting, orchards, hiking trails along the Columbia River Gorge, wineries and breweries. Even better location to walk to town for dining and shopping. Drew offered great dining recommendations. Loved Bette's Place for breakfast. Home was spacious with lots of character. Rocking chairs on the front porch were a great place to sit and relax with a beverage. Wish we had more time there!

Thank you Drew! Your home was the perfect place for us to spend our weekend. Your place was beautifully restored and I loved the tub. Being walking distance to great restaurants and shopping was just what we wanted after hiking and wine tasting. We will definitely stay again.

Hood River Bungalow-- Perfect for us!

I wanted to express our sincere thanks to Drew in sharing his property with us. It was our first trip to Oregon-- a destination wedding to Hood River. What a wonderful secret that little town is! We were happy to walk downtown (the hills were great exercise) to try some of the restaurant choices Drew recommended. We enjoyed exploring much of the area on foot-- no gym needed! It was so easy to walk and not be bothered with parking, etc. The vintage bungalow was cozy, clean and charming, and perfect for us. If you like vintage and character, this is your place. Due to the stairs, I would not recommend the bungalow for small children or those with mobility issues. Drew was a GREAT host-- extremely courteous and responsive. We had need to contact him with some questions and he responded immediately and made certain our issues were resolved. We would definitely stay at the bungalow again if visiting Hood River. Just a heads up though-- the children's park across the street is closed. Not sure if renovation is the reason, but guests with children will not be able to access that play area for awhile. If that is not an issue-- then put the bungalow high on your list of accommodations. Thanks again, Drew!!

Located minutes from downtown

Overall, good place to stay. It's the second property we have rented advertising as having cable , but not really. " Frustrating". If your vehicle is longer then a compact, plan on parking across the street in an unlighted city park . Not sure why there was a Van in the owners driveway. Bring toilet paper and bath soup, as there was none or not enough. The upstairs main bath is small, but it works. Loved the rocking chairs on the front porch.

A good home for adults or families with older children.

We were a group of two families with toddler girls that chose this home because it was across the street from Children's Park, it had a back yard and it was walking distance to downtown. Upon arrival, we saw that Children's Park was closing down THE WEEKEND that we chose to visit, so that didn't work well for us. The yard in the back could have been a great second option but the tree had dropped huge limbs and covered the entire yard making it unusable. But we did get the walking distance to downtown... The house in general was pretty roomy and had a really nice living area and dining area downstairs. If it had just been us adults I would have been able to give it more stars, but this is no house for toddlers! The stairs and floors upstairs were extremely loud and creaky so when putting the girls down for bed it was impossible to sneak away without waking them up. The upstairs bathroom door was over the stairwell and posed a scary hazard for little ones falling down the stairs. The bedroom doors do not click closed all the way. The bedrooms are tiny but the beds were relatively comfortable. The girls did enjoy baths in the claw foot tub. Location was ideal (except for the park being closed) for walking downtown. The front porch was a nice sunny spot to drink morning coffee. The house had most everything needed to stay for the weekend. (no laundry detergent, no extra toilet paper) I would recommend this home for a short stay, adults or families with older children only.

Cozy, bright, comfortable, clean home.

My brother/sister-in-law from Chicago and those of us from Portland LOVED our stay in Hood River. This home is comfortable in every possible way. The showerhead while small, has an amazing amount of water pressure and felt wonderful after a day of hiking!! AND there is a claw foot tub to enjoy an old fashioned soak if you want! The location is perfect for walking to the city center area. Drew gives excellent tips on where to go/what to enjoy while in this picturesque town. Thank you!

We had a lovely stay in this charming house. The kitchen was wonderful, and rocking on the front porch became my favorite activity. It was unusually hot in Hood River, and the house isn't prepared for 100 degree days.

100 YR Old Craftsman House close to Downtown

We rented this house for a week to attend a family wedding at Mt Hood. Craftsman was a pre-fabricated house sold by Sears Roebuck, and there is a historic catalog excerpt on a main floor wall showing the house. The house is totally charming, has a modern kitchen well-equipped, even a coffee grinder, and an open floor plan and 2 baths. But the wonderful historic details have been respected -- the relaxing front porch, claw and ball tub on the main floor. The house was also well-located... easy walk into town, convenient to 12th st. So much to do in Hood River -- hiking the Columbia Gorge, SUP, kayaking, exploring Mt. Hood. Drew was a excellent host who responded so quickly to any of our questions. I highly recommend this property.
