At the end of a private gated drive through the Nantahala National Forest, you’ll discover Sweetwater Fly Fishing Camp—a secluded riverfront cabin on nine private acres surrounded by thousands of acres of protected forest.

Originally operated as a fly-fishing lodge, Sweetwater offers something that very few mountain rentals can: the adventure begins the moment you step outside.

Walk directly from the cabin to White Owl Falls, explore Tumblin’ Fun Falls by following Gum Bottom Creek upstream, hike to Tall Falls, fish the Thompson River, relax beside the river pavilion, or simply enjoy the sounds of rushing water from the screened porch.

Sweetwater is surrounded by Nantahala National Forest, bordered by the Thompson River, and filled with the kind of natural beauty that’s becoming harder to find. There are no streetlights, very little ambient noise, and the stars at night are extraordinary. Whether you’re hiking to waterfalls, fishing the river, or simply sitting on the porch listening to the water, we hope you’ll experience the same peace that made us fall in love with this place.
