Great home base for skiing

Our family of 13 stayed at this lovely cabin for a weekend of skiing. It worked out perfectly for us.

Nice cabin

Nice cabin, so many beds, basement was perfect for our teenagers! Loved that we could bring our dogs. We brought bikes thinking we could ride to clubhouse and beach, but you’ll definitely want to drive. It’s about a mile and half one way. Would definitely stay again!

Very Quiet and Peacful Stay

Plenty of space for the family and dogs. Home was well stocked. Kids loved the game room in the basement, and the pool at the clubhouse. Heed the owners warning and print out some maps of the neighborhood, both ATT and VZW service was spotty while driving around.

Mid-week Summer Stay

Owner was easy to communicate with and responsive. We had a group of 6 and the space was adequate. Beds are small and I recommend bringing your own pillows. Everything was in working order and well maintained. We did not want for anything. This is a very nice cabin with a great lot. The deck has a beautiful and private view of the woods. We enjoyed our stay.

Spring break

We stayed here for two nights for a short spring staycation. The house had more than enough room for our family and had games and books for the kids. We really enjoyed the pool area at the clubhouse too. The house was very clean and well maintained and communication was great.

Home away from home

I normally dont write reviews, and was hesitant to write one on this vacation home. However, my hesitancy was due to wanting to keep this awesome house a secret in case we want to book again! We went hiking, sledding, had bonfires outside roasting smores, and then warmed up inside by the fire without having to leave the property. Kids had ping ping, pool table, video games and board games to keep them busy when the adults wanted some down time. A great place to get away and remind us of family, friends and the simple life. Also had access to the clubhouse with pool and hot tub, but think we could have just stayed at the house. Seems like the owner truly cares about this rental and the people who stay in his home. Hope to go back soon!

Family snowmobile trip

Brought a group of families up for a long weekend of Snowmobiling. The house and property was great for entertaining kids There is a hill to sled down out back. The games in the basement were wonderful. Cabin is only a few minutes away from the clubhouse to go swimming. The loft area works out great for all the kids to sleep at as well. We all loved our stay

Quiet Getaway

Myself and a group of friends stayed here early December. The beds were cozy, the cabin was kept up, the carpet in the basement seemed newer and clean, all appliances worked well. We were happy with our stay. The surrounding area is quiet, safe, and peaceful. The property owner was very communicative and helpful. The only reason I give 4 stars is the fact that the clubhouse closed for the weekend we traveled, and some minor sanitary issues. The kitchen is also small for the amount of people the cabin accommodated. I definitely recommend staying here and I am looking forward to coming back to this area in the summer time!

Perfect Place

This place is very nicely suited for any vacation. It was perfectly located for our golf trip in the summer and would be the perfect destination for a fall/winter trip to Northern Michigan. This place will comfortably accommodate a small or large family and is furnished with plenty of games to keep you entertained.

Very Quite and Peaceful...

We had a very nice stay. The cabin had all of the necessities covered. The game room in the basement was nice for our children. The location is also very good with a short drive to Gaylord.

Private Cabin w/ Lots of Amenities

Very nice place in a private setting with access to Lakes of the North amenities (swimming pool, golf course, private lake, etc). The home has a newly finished lower level w/ extra bath, very large TV and arcade games that the kids loved. The living area is open to the kitchen, so there is space to gather that leads out to a nice deck area w/ grill. The place was clean and host was friendly and responsive.

Decent for the price

The ages were 3-74yo. I'm sure this place would work great for a group of people who all went to bed and all woke up at the same time, but that was not the kind of group we had. We had both, early to bed/1am to bed and 5am/sleep in till nooners. We ended up having to switch beds/rooms 2-3 times to find the right sleeping situations which made for a couple crabby people the first few days. And the beds are F.I.R.M. So even when we did fall asleep it was a restless/interrupted sleep. Sleeping arrangements aside, we were there for a week with 12 people. We had groceries bc we wanted to eat at the cabin, but there is no counter space or place to store food. We had to hang bread/buns/chips in the hall closet so they wouldn't get squished. The second bathroom downstairs was a blessing, but you can't use it at night bc it has to grind the flush and pump it up a pipe, making a ridiculously loud noise - rather unsettling when it happens prematurely and you are sitting on it... Kitchen had all the needed equipment to make our meals. The sand hill in the back was an unexpected blessing for our 4 younglings. We brought a bin of sand toys and they were entertained with that thing for hours! There isn't much room to ride bikes which was disappointing but not a deal breaker. The porch was nice but that railing was questionable. It's a good 30+ minutes from the lakes/places I wanted to visit, which I knew going in but didn't realize how long it can actually take to drive 30 mins...

Memorial day family getaway

It was fun and we wish we could have been there longer. The clubhouse pool is a must go and the kids loved Lake Harold. The guys enjoyed the hiking trail. The only thing missing was tongs, which we has forks and other things to get by with. The pool table was just set back in and not balanced, but the weather was too nice to stay inside anyways. Beautiful cottage. We recommend this place.

What is not to love!!

We loved our stay at this Lakes of the North chalet. The cabin is very clean, cozy, and well maintained/equipped for some quality family time. After a day on the slopes, we couldn’t wait warm up next to the wood burning stove. The owner is true professional, communicating with us regularly to make sure our stay was flawless. We can’t wait to return.

Quiet cabin with scenic views!

We really enjoyed staying at the cabin! Only draw back was the bed situation. some beds were high off of the ground and others were low and some beds were nestled inside of a frame (which killed the back of your legs even getting out of it). The house was super clean, lovely back porch with a beautiful view of the woods! The woods fire place was awesome and there was plenty of parking. It snowed while we were there and it was beautiful! We also had the opportunity to use the club house which was absolutely wonderful! The indoor pool and hot tub are with the time to visit and the staff was amazing! Thank you Vincent for allowing us to stay and enjoy the weekend!

Vince built this cabin with a friend approximately 20 years ago. He used it originally as a snowmobiling cabin when he was single. Vince married Liz 10 years ago and now enjoys this cabin with his wife and children. The kids love coming here for long weekends because there is so much to do in the area!! The Lakes of the North pool is the kids' favorite activity, especially since the new clubhouse opened this past year! In the summer we love to visit all of the nearby lakes!! In the winter we all love to ski at Boyne Mountain Resort!

Lakes of the North is a 5 mile long wooded community with large lots. You can get away Up North into the woods, yet have all modern amenities nearby. Our chalet has two bedrooms on the main floor, a bedroom in the walkout level, and a large loft with 4 full-sized beds!
We pride ourselves on our cleanliness!! We use this chalet ourselves and have very high standards.

You will not run out of things to do! We love how the the chalet is only 15 minutes away from Gaylord and 30 minutes away from Boyne and Charlevoix, approx 45 minutes away from Traverse City, 90 minutes away from Mackinac Island. Otsego Lake State Park is only about 20 minutes away.
