Big-Yurt Glamping on the Quiet-side of Acadia National Park!

The Norumbega Mtn Yurt is our largest yurt, offering a spacious and memorable stay for up to six guests. Yurts are unique, tent-like circular structures with a wood-lattice frame and thick canvas walls-an ancient design originating from the nomadic tribes of Asia. Our modern version pairs that traditional charm with the comfort of a fully equipped vacation rental. With reflective insulation and a high-efficiency heat pump/AC unit, you'll stay cozy in any season.

Inside, you'll find everything you need for a relaxed and comfortable stay. The enclosed bedroom features a queen bed, while a second queen bed sits in the lofted sleeping area (featuring regulation stairs). A queen-size sleeper sofa in the main living space provides extra room for additional guests. ALL linens also included!

The large kitchen is thoughtfully stocked and includes a range/oven, dishwasher, stand-up refrigerator, sink, cookware, and dishware-perfect for preparing meals together after a day in the park. The yurt also includes a full bathroom with a stand-up shower.

Whether you're exploring Acadia National Park, unwinding on Mount Desert Island, or simply looking for a unique place to stay, the Norumbega Mtn Yurt offers comfort, character, and a true "glamping" experience inspired by centuries of tradition.

Three of us visiting the area. We were surprised at the roominess in our yurt. Everything we needed. Karen was quick to respond to our messages. We had a great time in Acadia NP. (My niece was hoping for a quick walk to a beach and/or a hot tub, but really no complaints). Very relaxing

Genuinely one of the best places I have ever stayed. The yurt looked exactly like the pictures, if not better. The beds were super comfy, the yurt was very very clean. We had a small run in with a wasp nest near the trees by the yurt and the host was out and spraying the nest within less than an hour of being notified. The hosts were responsive, nice, and check in/out was very easy. The communal fire pit was great. The kitchen had even more than we thought (toaster, blender, baking sheets). Definitely planning on coming back. They also have a wellness center which we unfortunately didn’t get to check out but it looked great. Overall 10/10 would go again and highly highly recommend.

This was such an incredible experience! The Yurt was a fun and comfortable place to spend our time. It was quiet, but was also accessible to other island activities. We had a great time, and enjoyed being able to cook at “home”. The beds were very comfortable, including the pull out couch. Everything was very clean. Temp control was great, even as we experience temps between 45 and 60! Loved our stay here, and will absolutely be staying here again.
Pull out couch was very comfy, and there was plenty of room to navigate around d.
Kitchen was well equipped. We cooked at “home” for most meals, and had everything we needed.

Great property. Very clean, comfortable and well stocked. The location was perfect. Not too far from most of Acadia's attractions. Check in and check out were very easy. Loved this yurt!

Perfect Place to Stay

The yurt was extremely welcoming, peaceful, clean, relaxing, and all around amazing. The hosts were very helpful and responsive with any questions that we had. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Great place and location

Check in was easy and the place was as advertised. Very beautiful yurt with all of the essentials. Unique stay that was totally worth it!

Bachelorette weekend!

Exactly what we were looking for! A place to call home while we explored Acadia and Bar Harbor! Fit 6 girls comfortably with surprisingly no arguing over the bathroom! Would definitely stay here again!

Awesome Place to Stay!

The yurt felt warm and inviting for our fall getaway. The kitchen was adequately stocked with cookware and the couple of things we thought were missed were found available in the laundry barn.

Great stay on the quiet side of MDI

We had a great stay at Acadia Yurts! Kids enjoyed the loft and parents enjoyed the space of the larger yurt. Karen and Aaron are great hosts; always responsive and helpful. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great experience near Acadia National Park!

Amazing yurt! This one has a loft! The woodwork is exquisite. Super close to some Acadia fire roads on the “Quiet Side” of the island. Beds were super comfortable. Loved the light coming through the sky light.

This was such a great spot! It was on the quieter side of the island which was really nice. The hosts thought about everything, even had a stool for our little kiddo to use to be able to reach the sink. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer. Definitely coming back!

Great vacation!

Our yurt was a great home base for our family to explore Acadia and MDI! It had everything we needed and we appreciated the amenities after long days spent exploring the park. Aaron and a Karen were great hosts and everything was as advertised. We definitely look forward to coming back in the future!

A very special place!

The yurt provided an excellent home base for us while we explored Acadia and was the perfect balance of nature and comfort for our family! We loved our time there and would not hesitate to book again. Karen and Aaron do a wonderful job!

Perfect Acadia Location

The yurt, in addition to just being fun, was extremely clean and had everything we needed. The location was 30 minutes or less to everything on Mount Desert Island, but much quieter than the east side. Can't recommend enough and will certainly be back next time we're visiting Acadia!

Excellent lodging- would book again in a heartbeat!

Yurt felt like a cozy luxe home for the week. Spotless, roomy, everything you need for your Maine adventure week. Slept 4 of us comfortably with room for cooking simple dinners, playing board games, lounging. We have absolutely no complaints- its perfect!

Fantastic

Anfitrión: Karen Roper

Aaron is a Maine native. He was born and raised across the bridge in Trenton and grew up attending local Bar Harbor schools. He has worked in the restaurant industry for 20+ years beginning as a prep cook in high school then moving toward general manager. Aaron's favorite extracurricular activity is learning all he can about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. As often as he can, he trains locally and loves sharing this passion with others.

Karen is a transplant. Originally from Chicago she made her way to Maine in 2009 and fell in love immediately. In Acadia she enjoys hiking, trail running, yoga, and long walks on the carriage roads. Karen has been teaching yoga locally for over 6 years and now brings her practice to the Wellness Center (located on site at Acadia Yurts). Karen is also a licensed massage therapist and offers services onsite (pending availability).

As a couple we have done quite a bit of traveling and through that we have narrowed down the particular way we like to travel. The biggest factor for us is having a furnished kitchen in order to prepare health minded foods to nourish our bodies and support all our outdoor activities. The idea for Acadia Yurts has been brewing for quite some time. Friends of ours live off the grid in a yurt and we greatly appreciate the rustic, romantic feel of the yurt but wanted some of the comforts of home; running water, heat, electricity. From there Acadia Yurts was born. We truly hope you enjoy our property and your time here as much as we do.
