Perfect place to stay while visiting Long Island

We just returned from a week's stay in this upstairs apartment in Mangrove Bush and we loved it. While the location is not directly on water, two of the four bedrooms and the small front porch have water views. The apartment is clean, comfortable and so cute that my picky teenage daughter gave it a thumb's up. While the kitchen is not full size, it was plenty for our vacation needs. I made breakfast and simple dinners most days and never felt that anything was lacking. The cafe downstairs was handy when we needed to grab a quick or an ice cream. Each room has a netflix ready t.v. and the wifi was the most robust of all our Out Island trips. We LOVED the central location, making trips to either end of Long Island very easy. Great beaches, including Dean's Blue Hole, and Galloway Beach are very close. A small grocery and liquor store is withing a quarter mile down the road, and other provisions are a short drive to Clarence Town, or Salt Pond. Cathy is a fantastic host and will make sure your stay is comfortable and fun. If you have the opportunity, definitely ask about hiring her husband, Captain Francis through Sun Adventure Boat Tours for a day out on the beautiful water. It was an absolutely amazing experience with some of the most beautiful water we have ever seen. We are already making plans to go back.

Under the sun

My family and I enjoy our stay at Cathy’s home, our only regret is that we didn’t stay for a longer time. The pictures don’t do this home justice, you must see to appreciate. The location of the home was perfect, as there is a little restaurant down stairs and convenient stores up the street. I recommend this home to persons traveling in small groups as this home has the space to accommodate everyone comfortably.

Ren och fin lägenhet med allt du kan tänkas behöva.

En ren och fräsch lägenhet. Cathy hjälpte oss med allt vi funderade på innan vi ankom. De hämtade oss till och med på färjan då de skulle hämta gods. Alla var välkomnande och gjorde våran vistelse perfekt. Man behöver hyra bil på plats då för att ta sig runt till stränderna längst den långa ön. Tack, för ett fint uppehåll :)

Everything you need is here

The owner is very helpfull and knowledgable and very accommodating. The place is as advertised. Clean and comfortable. Anything you want to do, the owner, Frances, knows how to get it; swimming, bone fishing and deep water fishing , snorkeling, boat rentals, kayak, standup paddle board, blue holes. I could go on and on. It’s all down to earth pricing. My buddy and I flew all over the Bahamas with our private planes and this place is the best value!! I’ll be back! Remember to rent a car. It makes everything much easier. No matter where we went the internet was marginal, this place is no different. We ended up using our phone carrier, AT&T, and was reliable everywhere we went.

Combining a North American attitude with the lively and dynamic culture of the Bahamas for over 27 years, Francis and Cathy Darville have owned and operated Under The Sun Department Store and Chamcem Boats with their four children, working side by side. Always looking for new ventures and sources of employment for Long Islanders, Explore Long Island has become the new addition to their ever changing livelihoods.

Francis was born and grew up on Long Island, becoming a fisherman first, and then moving on to his passion, boat building. Cathy first met Francis on vacation with her family from Canada, and not only did her family build their second home on Long Island, but also witnessed their daughter move on to begin her own family home with Francis.
