Gorgeous area. Lots of deer sighting. Simple, clean, fun house. Quality-time things available to use inside and out. I love the bright colors they used in decorating. The photos don't do the rooms justice, especially the spacious Kitchen-dining-living room with its cozy pellet stove.
Textured concrete floors were cool in the mornings (we had our slippers), but super easy to clean - ideal for having littles along.
Good to know:
The couch in the living room is a futon - could sleep 2 (making 6 total sleep spots in the Casita). The cabin is very remote - about 30 minutes from town. Driving directions are complex but thorough and the dirt roads need AWD close to the end.
And unfortunately, for those who are mold sensitive, we definitely had symptoms here, despite work they've clearly done to prevent water damage (reason I bumped my review down to 4 stars).
This place is amazing, it was exactly what we needed. We were treated with an early mountain snow storm and truly enjoyed every moment. The photos do not do the cabin justice, it is cozy and beautiful. The owners have thought of everything and are a very friendly couple who came to check on us when we arrived and when it was snowing to clear the porch and solar panels. There were even fresh baked cookies! The cabin is so well thought out with picturesque views from every window. Kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed to make our meals, we stopped at the grocery in Pueblo before heading up the mountain. The weather was warm when we arrived and we enjoyed the hammocks while the sun was shining. Peace, privacy, mountain scenery, fresh air, and huge piñon trees made this off grid experience one we wont forget!
The cabin was wonderful, very cozy. We stayed here and made day trips, very convenient. It was very relaxing to come back to the cabin and just enjoy the peacefulness of the evening. The view of all the stars at night was beautiful. One morning we were greeted by six mule deer on the front lawn. Leann was absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed visiting with her and sharing stories. Would definitely recommend this cabin.
What a gorgeous setting! So quiet and peaceful! Sitting on the front porch, snuggled in blankets with a hot drink, staring at trees and mountains is a great way to spend a rainy afternoon. Hiking from the house is also available. The house is cozy and exceptionally clean. Individually colored bath towels for each guest. Kitchen nicely stocked with quality cooking items. Strong Wifi. Pellet stove easy to use, gave nice ambience and warmth. Look forward to a second visit
The cabin was cozy and clean, with a stunning view. My partner and I do wish the mattress was a bit more comfortable, but otherwise, the cabin itself was great. I do wish that I would have had the owners' phone number prior to getting to the cabin, due to difficulty with getting to the cabin on the first night, but they were very responsive via email and provided helpful directions once I emailed them; however, by that point, we had already turned back to Canon City and found a motel, so we missed out on our first night in the cabin and there was no monetary reimbursement for that. The owners were friendly and shared some great information about the area. We also appreciated that the cabin was well-supplied with essentials. Overall, it was a great place to stay, once we had the correct directions for getting there.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay. Leanne was very nice, she came over the first morning to introduce herself and ask if we had any questions and Doug stopped by later in the week to check on us as well.
The views are amazing and the cabin was better than advertised. I would recommend staying here if you are looking for a nice peaceful stay in the mountains. I made the mistake of draining the solar power by charging a hybrid Jeep that we received from the rental car company. Not having any knowledge of how these vehicles charge and how much power they consume we woke up to the emergency generator running and immediately unplugged. If you have an electric vehicle or receive one from a rental company like we did you should consider asking for a non PHEV or find alternate charging arrangements. Overall was a fantastic stay and we hope to be able to return someday. Thank you for your hospitality.
This property is absolutely what was needed. All the modern conveniences, but away from it all. LeAnn is a wonderful host and is very thoughtful with providing information about the property as well as a vast knowledge of the surrounding areas , we have stayed in several Vrbo properties as well as other companies and I have to say this was absolutely the best. The property is beautiful and secluded for a wonderful relaxing vacation. Thank you LeAnn and Doug for sharing such a amazing property for people to enjoy
Cabin was clean, neat, and perfect for our weekend getaway as a family. Host was very thoughtful and there were plenty of indoor and outdoor games for our kids. We enjoyed the hike and the amazing night sky. Kids want to go back already!
The Casita was exactly as advertised and was a great place to stay for a few days. Well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. Best part though was the connection the hosts made on our behalf that enabled us to get a tour of the Beckwith mansion.
We were looking for a complete getaway from the business of Houston life. This secluded off the grid cabin was perfect for us. We enjoyed backcountry mountain trails, snow, and the wildlife.
From the moment I booked this property, the owners were quick to reach out and answer our questions. Communication was timely and thorough.
When we arrived, the property was clean and comfortable to walk into. Everything was in working order and had clear instructions where needed. The area is quiet and relaxing.
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.
My husband and I loved our stay here. They really do have all the things you need to have a comfortable relaxing vacation. I highly recommend Rancho Arturo to anyone who wants to get away from people and cities on vacation.
Wonderfully designed cabin on a beautiful property set in a meadow of wildflowers and trees. The attention to detail was amazing-kitchen well-stocked, spotless throughout, plenty of warm blankets AND side by side hammocks to star gaze in the "dark skies" of the Wet Mountains. Thank you for all the thoughtful touches!
We had such a great time at the Casita. The cabin is really comfortable. Wish the bed was a little bigger but it was fine. The views of the night sky and seeing the milky way was amazing. The outside space was fun playing games or just relax. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and pots and pans. It was one of the best places we've stayed in. We will definitely be back again.
We had a wonderful time. The casita was just as described. It was very clean and well stocked. I would highly recommend this house. I loved the scenery and the location.
Mountain living is the place to be for us who originally came from North Dakota and Ohio/Michigan/New Mexico. Our personal cabin is across the road at 1790 Durfee Circle. We spend our time improving our property by foresting beetle-killed trees and fire mitigation and creating new and improving existing outdoor living areas. We enjoy hiking, lounging on our decks and meeting our guests!
We used to love camping in the area, but campsites were consolidated and hard to find, so we bought a piece of land to camp on. One thing led to another, thus the casita short-term vacation rental busines!
Peaceful outdoor mountain living at 8,444' is rejuvenating and healing. It is great to be off the utility grid and using solar energy. Night skies are unbelievably peppered with stars and constellations; an astronomers delight! Panoramic mountain views are breathtaking while the lenticular clouds are fascinating! The quiet, stillness is unique to our urban guests. Outdoor activities include hiking on private property, viewing Culturally Modified Trees (CMT,) horseshoes, hammocks and cornhole.
