A great place to stay with a well equipped kitchen and a little library, The views were amazing and the house was comfortable. Be sure that you have a car that's a little higher off the ground because the driveway is the way a lot of house lanes are, a little bumpy, but nothing that can't be navigated by a slightly bigger car.

A wonderful stay

We stayed with Jane and Giampiero in a beautiful house for twelve days in May/June. Everything was exactly as in the photos and in the description. Jane and Giampiero are very kindful and helpful, we got a lot of tips about excursions, shopping, restaurants, museums and, and, and. We are looking forward to coming back. Nora and Dirk from Germany

Great country villa!! We stayed here for 2 weeks to enjoy Tuscany. Jane the host was the best we have ever experienced. She is on site, stayed in touch and provided great information about the area. The last 1/4 mile to the property is a little rough but nothing a car cannot handle. It can be a little crazy the first time. It is super easy to get to the town of Pontassieve (10-12 minutes by car) and take the train wherever you want to go. Florence is only 25 minutes by train. I would highly recommend this if you are looking for an out of the way place but close enough to get to explore.

The accomodation was as good as the pictures suggest. We were made very welcome during our two week stay and our hosts could not be more friendly or helpful. The property was very clean and had a good range of equipment. A useful set of guidance notes was provided which recommended good local eating places. A trip to the nearby Frescobaldi wine estate is a must, excellent wines and olive oil.

Great Tuscany Experience

Jane and her wonderful husband were so accommodating. They were a wealth of information of places to go & see and where to eat. Their place is in a beautiful location which gives you the true Tuscan experience. Jane arranged for us us to have the most wonderful wine tasting at the Frescobaldi winery. Because Jane knew we were arriving from a long flight from Canada she offered to get us supplies beforehand so that we would have something to eat and not have to go grocery shopping upon arrival. Their home is surrounded by gardens which they grow their own herbs which they told us to help ourselves to. Everything in their listing was as stated and even more. If we could give more than a five star rating we would. When we visit Tuscany again we will definitely stay here again. Thank you so much for making our Tuscany experience one of the best. Tuscan Heaven

I can't say enough good things about both the cottage and the hosts. Jane welcomed us warmly and showed us around. The views from our windows were gorgeous. We loved the cottage; in fact, we loved the entire property. She and her husband, Giampiero, recommended places to visit: local towns, restaurants, coffee shops, and gelato shops as well as a wonderful wine tour and tasting at the castle above the property, which Jane bookled for us. We're hikers and enjoyed exploring the beautiful grounds and a road leading up to the castle. When our rental car nearly had a flat Jane noticed and gave us the name of a tire shop and the time they closed. If she hadn't we would surely have had a blowout out in the country somewhere. We tired of very touristy places early on in our trip and were grateful for their less-touristy recommendations. Another American couple staying there said it was their second visit and I can see why. If we return to Tuscany, which is everything we thought it would be and more, we'd definitely stay there again. It didn't hurt that although we don't speak Italian (I'm sorry to say), Jane is fluent in both English and Italian. One or our best VRBO experiences ever!

Perfect Tuscan holiday

We stayed in the ‘Vista’ property. The first thing to say straight away, is that the hosts Jane and Giampiero are really welcoming and helpful. Jane’s communication with guests is exceptional and should not be underestimated. We made some alterations to our plans and Jane dealt with them with ease. Good communication really became important on our arrival day. We took a flight which landed in the evening and we knew we would be arriving at the property fairly late. Due to flight delays and chaos at the car rental office, we set off from Florence airport much later than planned. We maintained contact with Jane and followed her (brilliant) directions to the house without any problems, but arrived very late and very tired. Jane met us and gave us a quick run through of everything. We had also taken advantage of Jane’s offer of getting groceries for us and we are so glad we did. It was Sunday the following day, we had plans and we knew we wouldn’t be able to get anything. If you are on a late or Sunday flight I would absolutely recommend you take up Jane’s offer! We were due to go to the Moto GP the following morning at Mugello and had to take an early train. Jane very kindly offered to meet us early the next morning and show us to the station and where to park our car. She also helped getting the tickets. This was really helpful because we were still only just finding our feet from the night before! Vista is a lovely property. We are fully in agreement with all the previous reviews about the views and the relaxing location. Simply stunning. We specifically chose Vista because it has a ‘full’ kitchen. We like to cook and it has everything you need. We had anticipated the rural position and the fact that in most cases you will need your car to visit restaurants etc. so we chose to eat lunch out using the car during the day and then prepare and eat dinner at home in the evening. We could enjoy a few glasses of delicious wine, sitting on the terrace, without worrying about driving. This is worth considering (unless you don’t drink of course!). The property was spotlessly clean and the bed (which is huge), bed linen and towels are very good quality. Everything you need is in there, including a selection of wines from the local winery, which are available to buy (they are really good too). Jasmine the dog and Peggy the cat are really friendly and funny and gave us a lot of entertainment!

Thank you for your review and for highlighting the character of the access road. We want guests to have an accurate idea of the property before arrival so I always explain that it is reached by a rough road at the time of booking. Perhaps my French was poor in this case. I am really sorry that you felt disappointed. I know you liked the accommodation otherwise. For the benefit of future guests reading this, let’s be clear. Borgo di Sopra is reached by a 1km private vineyard road. The surface is loose stone and is uneven and undulating at points. It is slow and bumpy to drive. In other words it is an ‘off road’ surface. Leaving the asphalt and driving on a rough surface for 1km is not for everybody. Some car owners get anxious about their vehicle’s wellbeing. Other people take a more robust view. The rough road may feel a little intrepid at first, but then they get used to it. All our guests drive it in normal city cars - the majority are in small rental cars such as the Fiat 500 or Fiat Panda. This is not just my opinion. We started renting with Homeaway in 2008 and the many excellent reviews received since then show minimal mentions for the road. Holiday choices are personal. This is a ‘getaway’ location with the advantage of being near the town of Pontassieve and just 30 minutes from Florence. The bumpy access road ensures it is genuinely peaceful, away from traffic, and with the beautiful Tuscan vineyard views shown in the photos.

Vacances parfaites!!!

Sehr nette hilfsbereite Gastgeber.

I live at Borgo di Sopra with my family. I am English and my husband is Italian with a lifetime's knowledge of Tuscany.
We have been welcoming guests since 2008 and are Premium Partners of VRBO.
Times have changed but we have always worked to make our guests feel at home here.
I personally oversee the housekeeping, with particular care for attentive cleaning .
We are happy to share our local knowledge with you and help you get the most out of your stay in this part of Italy.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

Borgo di Sopra is a great escape. Isolated but not remote.
You truly feel away from it all. You are in the midst of nature in a place of enormous beauty. There is lots of wildlife here, from deer to pheasants, hares, porcupines and all sorts of birdlife.
Our 3 apartments have great views onto the vineyards of the Castello di Nipozzano. Each apartment has its own front door and outside terrace for personal use.
The property is reached by a private farmroad. You are off the beaten track!
But the town of Pontassieve is less than 10 minutes by car with a large supermarket and train station.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

At Borgo you can walk uphill to the lovely Castello di Nipozzano. There has been a castle here since the year1000. The position dominates the surrounding countryside. But there is also a handsome Villa from the 1700s. Its aristocratic elegance charms and intrigues you. The wines here are impressive and on sale in the winestore.
