Old Post Office has a kitchen/diner, a sitting room with woodburning stove, a super-king-size bedroom (zip/link), two king-size rooms with en-suites, a twin, a bathroom, and a ground-floor shower room. Appliances consist of an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, wine chiller, coffee machine, two Smart TVs and four TVs. Outside there is a rear garden with lawn, patio, furniture, hot tub and a dog washing area, along with off-road parking for four cars. Two well-behaved dogs welcomed, but sorry, no smoking. WiFi, fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price, along with a stairgate, travel cot and highchair. You'll find a shop/farm cafe in 1.4 miles and a pub in 2.3 miles. Enjoy rural Dorset from Old Post Office. Note: There is a stream at the bottom of the garden; please supervise children and pets at all times. Note: Village tennis court available to book for a small fee. Note: there is a hairdryer in each bedroom

Town: The ancient town of Sherborne lies on the delightful banks of the River Yeo set amidst glorious unspoilt countryside and boasts many picturesque buildings, ancient Inns and quaint shops. Probably best known for its beautiful abbey and two stunning castles, one of which is relatively “new”, only dating back to 1594 and boasting superbly landscaped gardens, Sherborne makes an ideal place for a day of sightseeing or a quiet afternoon stroll. A short drive will take you to the stunning house and gardens at Stourhead and the sublime Dorset Heritage Coast, whilst just across the border in Somerset is the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, offering stunning displays of historic aircraft, including Concorde. A fantastic location for all the family.

My friends and I only stayed for a couple of nights, but we found the house to be absolutely charming. It is so well appointed with quality furnishings and appliances, and the bathroom facilities are outstanding. The kitchen was very well equipped, and everything was easy to use. The house is spacious - even having 8 people in the home wouldn't feel cramped at all. The peace and quiet was wonderful, the only sounds we woke to in the morning was birdsong and the neighbouring chickens clucking softly. The scenes from the upstairs windows in the bedrooms, was very bucolic, something out of a Constable painting! We were very impressed and would definitely stay again.

Holiday in Glanvilles Wootton, Nr Sherborne

We had a wonderful stay at the Old Post Office. The owners had thought of everything we could possibly need and left excellent instructions. The house was really lovely and comfortable. They had also ordered the weather ! We had no direct contact with them but knew how to if we had a problem. We loved the area and hopefully will return in the future.

A hidden gem ,off the beaten track , house and hot tub great, slightly more remote than advertised, the pub Hunters Moon was not that easy to walk to, food & drink awful, rose & crown pub far better & a similar distance. 20 minute drive to Sherborne town, also note take aways not easily ordered here. A welcome package of milk, bread eggs & tea bags would have been better than leaving cheese chutney & chocolate biscuits. Would recommend updating website with more detialed info. Check in too late & check out far too early (cleaner waiting outside 9:45) would recommned moving to 11am to allow for a stress free reasonable check out. Sykes cottages not easily contactable by phone. Overall we Loved the house & would return for the house & decor, very cosy & tasetful.

Beautiful!

Our stay at The Old Post Office was so relaxing and we felt the owners had gone the extra mile in creating a “home away from home”. The interior design suits all ages and we were amazed how big the property actually is. There were 5 of us plus my mother. She has mobility issues but found the property easy to navigate and was so happy there was a downstairs guest bathroom. As she was recuperating she felt instantly at home and so comfortable. Having two en-suite bedrooms was also a bonus. The main bathroom is a showstopper as the bath is so luxurious! Although the weather meant we couldn’t use the hot tub - it was a nice addition. We did make use of the garden though. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook family meals - we enjoyed a few nights cooking in the lovely kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay here and visited some of the local pubs and restaurants that were recommended. We definitely recommend The Old Post Office - you won’t be disappointed! Thank you to the owners who left us a welcome surprise - it was much appreciated!
