Lovely place for a family gathering

We stayed here for a week to celebrate my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. The house is gorgeous - lovely bedrooms and fantastic living space for everyone to gather. Spotless and perfectly equipped. Everyone from age 6 to 80 was very happy!

Lovely family gathering in beautiful location.

Ideal size of property for large family gathering. Gorgeous weather helped us visit numerous locations close by, using local transport. Peaceful and quiet with seating available at the front and rear. Whole party enjoyed this property and it's location.

60TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Oakland West for my 60th Birthday. There were 15 of us ranging from 12 weeks to 60. The house was big enough for us to spread out. We especially loved the kitchen/diner and the large lounge. Loved that there were 2 fridge/freezers and 2 dishwashers. We were also impressed with the size of the garden and the ample car park (including the electric charger).

Super holiday house

We had a great family stay at Oakland West. The house is beautiful and full of character, with lovely views of the hills. It is in a great position within walking distance of Windermere centre and also of Orrest Head. The combined kitchen/dining area was fantastic for cooking, dining, socialising, playing games etc. The kitchen was extremely well equipped for a large group. All bedrooms were beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Beautiful terrace at the back overlooking the garden and the hills. All in all a great house for a big group holiday.

Fantastic family property

We had a great Christmas stay at Oakland West. It’s a house where you can get together but also have privacy - perfect for mixed aged family groups. All the bedrooms are excellent, which is rare. We will definitely be staying again.

Gorgeous stay in a gorgeous house

We were all really impressed by the bedrooms styles and sizes and the fact that every room had an ensuit! The kitchen was huge and fully stocked with all cooking utensils and made a lovely atmosphere for gathering together. The sitting room was huge as was the garden making it a very comfortable stay for 8 adults.

Excellent property for large group.

We had the best stay at Oakland West with our extended family for a l wedding. The bedrooms are a great size, the kitchen spacious and well equipped and the living rooms were just prefect. Loved the garden too. Tarn and Fells were very much on the ball and very responsive to our every request.

Lovely location with amazing views down to the lake. Worked so well for a large family get together. Very comfortable and clean. Windermere and the lakes generally have so much to do. The weather could have been better.

We had an amazing weekend at Oakland West. Location is relaxing and quiet while you're still walking distance from the town. Ross was amazing and very responsive. Will highly recommend.

Our 3rd time at Oakland West

This is a brilliant property for family gatherings. It’s our third stay here and won’t be the last. Perfectly located at the top of Windermere, with a great walk up to Orrest Head on the doorstep. The facilities in the property are good, and Ross at Tarn & Fell escapes is good at communicating. No hesitation in recommending.

Best friends festive break

We absolutely loved it, beautiful house, amazing kitchen that allowed us to cook great meals in a lovely kitchen where we were all together! The lounge was fabulous in the evening with the fire lit and the tree lights twinkling. We loved it!! Ross was lovely, he knows why,I don’t hesitate to recommend this property and this company, I’m sure me and my 8 crazy girlfriends will return

A lovely house in a beautiful setting

A wonderful stay with family in a fabulous house . Needs chairs in bedrooms and areas for ladies to do hair and makeup near to mirrors and plugs. A clock in the kitchen would be useful and pictures in the lounge as walls are large and bare. Garden would be nicer if it had some plants. However, none of this distracted from a lovely time. House was spotless and kitchen had everything you could need. 2 dishwashers perfect for large groups. All bedrooms were beautiful . Thank you

Extended family get together

Very spacious and extremely well equipped accommodation, especially the kitchen. With 3 generations in the same house there was lots of space for all, including the space for 6 cars. Having an enclosed garden worked very well with 3 dogs and young children. The location was perfect to walk onto the hills without having to cross the main road. Will definitely return in the future!

Perfect House

What a beautiful house, we have just had the best family weekend staying at Oakland West. It was perfect, the house has everything you need and more, very spacious, you dont feel on top of each other the bedrooms are all a decent size and very well equipped, the beds are the most comfortable Ive ever slept in. the garden is gorgeous with beautiful views. Ross is amazing, very kind and responsive, we cant wait to go back I would highly recommend this house.

A family getaway in a beautiful spot in the lakes

A beautiful property in a lovley location walkable to Windermere. The house was really comfortable and the lovely huge kitchen diner was the centre of the home. The bedroom’s were all beautiful and en-suite bathrooms a treat. It was well equipped with plenty of pots, pans and utensils. The fire doors were very heavy to open especially for the older members of our party. The garden was great Fi the dogs once we had temporary fixed the gaps, it would have been perfect if this was fixed by the owners. All in all a fabulous location and property with everything you could need.

Ross and his team were absolutely superb in all ways, helpful, great communications and the property was everything it portrayed to be. A fantastic property for a group celebration, very well appointed with everything we needed. Would we recommend the house and the team behind it all.. a big YES from all of us. Thank you .

Lovely house!

The views were gorgeous. It’s a great house for a gathering - lovely kitchen & dining space. The kitchen was well equipped and the two fridges and dishwashers make everything easier when catering for a larger group. The bedrooms were all nice - great having all en-suite. Our only comments would be that a couple of the mattresses were a bit soft, perhaps needing renewed. It would be great to see more with extra-kingsize beds - i’m sure that the rooms are big enough. The Loft room was great for parents with small children. We’ll return here quite happily.

Mini mid week Break In the Lakes

Absolutely super property. The living space for entertaining 14 guests was fabulous. We hired a private chef one evening and the layout open plan kitchen diner worked very well. A memorable night for us all. The sitting room seated 12 comfortably and the wood burner was super efficient and made the dark evenings very cosy. In terms of location it’s a short walk into Windermere town and a handy location for going off biking. Orrest head and lots of walks just out of the door. All bedrooms were styled nicely and comfortable and clean. We liked the fact it’s set in a quiet location with great views and felt very private.

Lovely big house and garden

Great to have 6 en-suite bedrooms. The downstairs bathroom to bedroom 5 was a little awkward but they managed. Great dining kitchen and outdoor dining options for a party of 13 with two bbqs. Two dishwashers and fridges was brilliant. Great views. Not too far to walk into Windermere either. Good parking for our four cars too. Excellent customer service from Ross of Tarn and Fell escapes. And also two sitting rooms! Could not ask for a better house for our large family. The fire doors took some getting used to. We all loved the wool stair carpet too! Thankyou for a fantastic four night stay

Just amazing!!

Wow that house is just amazing- Location, decor, facilities...it has everything. We were booked to stay in an adventure centre as we were doing a 50 km walk around the lake. That, however, had bunk beds , plastic basic seating and shared bathrooms. What a difference to our experience. All rooms ensuite, beautifully furnished throughout ...we were totally spoiled. Quite expensive but what value for money and completely worth it. The information provided in the booklets and signs displayed around the property were simple and stylishly done but most importantly highly informative. We definitely recommend here for families and group special occasions.
