We were a family of five. And stayed in the downstairs “BigFish” apt. Our host, Shannon, was amazing and welcomed us onsite when we arrived which was such a kind and personal courtesy. She made us feel right at home. The two-bedroom unit was immaculate and clean with high-end finishes throughout. Every detail and amenity covered and well thought out. The location & views were absolutely stunning too. The sunsets are gorgeous. The condo comes with a secure garage and storage space filled with towels, surf boards, beach gear and toys which make the beach visits extremely easy. Nothing needs improvement, it was an ideal home away from home for us and we definitely plan to be back! Thank you Shannon and Des!

Soooooo Close to the Pier

The place was fantastic and the location was outstanding. For our short weekend stay, we hung out on the balcony or walked to the Pier. A short walk up Del Mar to more shops and restaurants than you could possibly visit. Room was comfortable and amenities were great.

Really Nice Property

We had a 4-night stay at the Big Fish and really enjoyed it. Great location, very comfortable, and a ton of attention to detail, like kitchen and beach amenities. The beach was close, and the view was great. San Clemente is away from all the traffic near LA, and we were close to the wine region of Temecula.

Perfect Location

Really nice place in a perfect location—literally steps from coffee, restaurants, and the sand!! Equally, the owners and property manager are a pleasure to work with. We would stay here again, so why the overall rating of 4? Just a couple of unfortunate events: the refrigerator stopped working on Fri afternoon, and the sound of moving patio furniture upstairs was sometimes disruptive at night.

I’m sorry to hear you considered your overall experience as 4 stars. From our conversations, I understood that your family had a wonderful time despite the issues you mentioned. We felt terrible that those things happened; I immediately addressed both instances when you made me aware of them. I called a serviceman that arrived within the hour, but we ultimately had to replace the refrigerator. We were happy to reimburse you for the groceries that were lost and offered a cooler as a temporary fix for the last two days of your stay. When you told me about the noise from the deck above, I immediately contacted the guests to remediate the situation. We do everything in our power to create a peaceful experience and address periodic issues upon notification. It was a pleasure having you and your family. Best wishes, Shannon & Des

Big Fish, Bigger Fish… Best Fish!

Patty and I love San Clemente and have stayed in many units over the years with our kids and grandkids. The Big Fish unit was one of the nicest we’ve experienced and the location right by the pier with the balcony view is as good as it gets. Shannon, our host, was perfect and always available… the overall experience was a 10 out of 10 and we’ll definitely look forward to future stays at Big Fish, Bigger Fish… the Best Fish!!!!!! Wonderful winter getaway!

Big Fish could not have been a more perfect condo for our stay in San Clemente celebrating my father's 80th birthday. The open floor plan with gorgeous views allowed us quality family time during meals and while watching the Olympics while simultaneously giving us space for quiet time to read, relax, and just kick back and enjoy the scenery. Comfortable and well appointed beds and furniture. Top notch kitchen amenities and wonderful, welcoming host. Clean, modern bathrooms. Ample parking. Loved the beach chairs, buckets and volleyball, too! Could not ask for more with the location, just a short walk to the pier, beach, or shops of San Clemente. We lucked out with gorgeous winter weather, sunning on the beach and exercising on the beach trail daily. Can't wait to return!

Elizabeth and her crew were so delightful! They’re the type of people that you want as your next door neighbors that you can zip over & share something you’ve just baked. They left no footprint in the condo & were quiet and resoectful to our property and beloved pier bowl neighbors. We would be honored to welcome them back them again.

This was the best VRBO we've ever rented! It was even better than the listing describes. You do get a great view of the beach from every room. The house was perfect and spacious. The kictjen is fully stocked for anything you would want to cook. The house was clean and had everything you could need. The owner was by far the most welcoming host we've ever encountered. She was so hospitable and checked in on us throughtout our stay. We wil most definitely try to rent this house our next visit to San Clem!

Big and Bigger Fish were better than advertised. With the comfort box checked off, the conversations started early and continued until early morning. A great place, a great group and an incredible time.

Just a great great place

A lovely, airy condo located a stone’s throw from the beach. Nice everything- host, beds, appliances, beach supplies, & baby items. I highly recommend it, we’ve stayed at many a vrbo & this is a gem.

Shannon did an amazing job welcoming our family to Big Fish! Not only was she helpful in getting us acquainted with the property but she stayed in touch throughout our stay to ensure we had everything we needed. Being that we lived in San Clemente for many years and were now visiting, , we knew we’d love the location ...and it lived up to all expectations! Big Fish also provided some welcomed “toys” like soft boards and boogie boards for our young family of four boys. We can’t wait to come back!

Exceeded Expectations and Wonderful Hosts

Great property with amazing hosts that made sure our stay went well and we had everything needed. Property was clean, well supplied, especially for a day at the beach with towels, chairs and umbrellas, and very comfortable for a family of 4. The sunsets are amazing. Beach is a 2 block walk. Downtown with many shops and restaurants is short walk. We hit the local Farmers Market on Sunday to get supplies! We really enjoyed just sitting on the deck after a full day on the beach surfing watching the local activity and sunsets. Thank you Desiree and Shannon! We will be back.

A perfect Stay

This property is just as amazing as it looks. Ocean views from both bedrooms and the San Clemente Pier is right around the corner. What isn't pictured is the kind and attentive hosts. We come to the area very often, and have stayed in many places, but this is the best. We would love to return.

Perfect Get Away

Big Fish was perfect in every way! The property is gorgeous, comfortable, well appointed, and an easy, quick walk to the pier and beach. Our four night stay could not have been better and we will definitely be back!

In 2015, we completely rebuilt "Big Fish" & "Bigger Fish" paying attention to every special little detail so all of our friends, family & guests would have the perfect place to stay in our beloved San Clemente. It has a clean, modern yet super comfortable feel with West Elm furniture and luxurious bedding. You can lay in bed and watch the surf from both bedrooms. The glass and ceramic tile speak "beach". Our doors have glossy glass inserts to let the light in but keep your privacy. The comment we hear most often when guests walk in is, "WOW, this is even better than the photos!"

This is a special place. No detail has been overlooked. Here are our top 10 favorite things about Big Fish:
1. We collected driftwood from the Oregon coast and made it into our front door pulls.
2. Our family and construction crew wrote our favorite quotes and inspirational sayings on the studs and walls during the remodel. We'd like to think that everyone feels better once they walk in the door.
3. You can sit on the deck and get to know fellow beach lovers as they walk by.
4. Our doormats say, "Hello you lovely people"
5. We've become good friends (and keep in touch) with many of our returning guests and LOVE to have them come back to their Big Fish second home.
6. The Pier Bowl vibe is relaxed, calm and full of ocean breezes and the sound of the waves. You can watch dolphins swim by
