The apartment is not in a building of other apartments but above a community centre. It is very spacious for a group. It was July and extremely hot at times and, with the windows open, sometimes people would hang around drinking late at night. We are a family who cooks when we can, when travelling. The place has an induction cooktop and had a number of pots. However, only two tiny pots actually worked with the induction cooker and looked as though they should’ve been thrown out. When I told the host (Houst) of this, they seemed concerned but the actual host never even bothered to respond. I guess they never cook for more than one person. I would not recommend this place.

The apartment is large having three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The position is on the top floor, filling the roof of an historic building. At the time we visited London was experiencing extreme heat, unfortunately the apartment has no air conditioning, which being on the top floor made conditions quite uncomfortable. The hosts did promptly provide floor fans after being contacted regarding the situation. The WIFI was turned off over the weekends and after 7:00PM weekdays. The Managers advised they were going to fix this problem after we left. They provided compensation for the inconvenience during our stay. The apartment is conveniently close to restaurants, supermarkets, rail and buses.

This flat was an economical way to stay right in London, very close to the Tube and let our family of four adults be comfortable. The flat is very spacious, though somewhat chopped up by the several fire doors it has. The beds were comfortable and the flat was clean. The location felt safe and secure, but was in a decidedly less polished part of London. Noted issues:Based on smell, there is definitely a mold issue in the bathrooms. It is not visibly evident, but there is no mistaking the odor. The arrival procedures were not clear and locating the lock box is more like geo-cacheing than checking into a property. The Internet did not work during our stay though we reached a reasonable compensation for this with the owner. In general, this property met our needs and provided a great base for our exploration of the core of London at an economical price. At the same time, based on the smell in the bathrooms, I would look for an alternate place the next time I visit.

The good- Spacious property in Shoreditch. Well stocked. Clear checkin and checkout instructions. The bad - Hosted by HOUST on behalf of the owner on VRBO. No clear ownership - VRBO support was of no help- No WiFi - had a terrible time coordination with HOUST. Restarting and sending pics of the router to no avail. Spent hours on this during our limited stay. They offered a token amount AFTER our stay to compensate for the inconvenience which does not cover the issues this created for us- The unbearable heat. The apartment is the top floor (3rd floor) and absolutely bakes in the sun. On hot days it’s an unbearable Sauna and there weren’t even fans in all rooms. Think twice before booking for the summer. - The dirty and stained couch. Sent pictures to the host - no response or remediation. - The smelly fridge - horrendous stench from the fridge. Called out to the host but no response. - The smelly washing machine - horrendous stench from the washing machine. Clothes came out unwearable. Had to air them out before we could bear to pack them for our onward journey. Called out to the host but no response. - Small TV with a broken stand - so TV leans down at a 45 degree angle. Was hoping to catch the World Cup but no dice. Called out to the host but no response. Overall a promising property compromised by a confusing host structure and inability to remedy serious issues we called out during our stay. Without those issues - it could have been a pleasant stay.
