The views from the property were amazing! It was wonderful to watch how things changed depending on the tide. Got fresh lobster at Caler Cove for a reasonable price and enjoyed a great meal. The location was convenient for us to explore Downeast Maine and Campabello.

So glad you enjoyed your stay, Annette. Yes, it is very relaxing to watch the tides come and go and the lighting change. And it is great fun to visit Bub down at the wharf to buy lobster. "Tea with Eleanor" is another memorable experience on Campobello Island. Folks just need to remember to bring their passports or enhanced driver's license to get into Canada.

The property is in a beautiful location. It’s quiet and very comfortable. I’ve read the other reviews and I would have to disagree with some negative comments. The street is very quiet except for the times when the fishermen are going to work. Much too early to interfere with anybody’s plans. The bathroom is small but completely manageable. Yes there is a neighbor who doesn’t really come into the picture. Furniture is comfortable. Kitchen is very comfortable. The bedroom upstairs is comfortable and may be a surprise at first but my husband is 6’5 and didn’t have a problem with it. I would totally recommend Brenda and Allen’s house for a peaceful getaway.

You can't please all of the people all of the time, but we sure try hard and the 62 - five star reviews we have achieved help show we are doing something right! We are not at the end of private peninsula but in a small fishing village on a road that ends at the peninsula so it is not a busy road. 99% of visitors remark how quiet and peaceful it is so we were very surprised that one found it not to be quiet but it shows that these reviews are for real - we do not make them up! We've returned many times to this idyllic coastal Maine home, and hope to again and again.Brenda is a fabulous host, quick to respond and very helpful. Her home is comfortable, clean, inviting and you just can't beat the seaside ambience... especially the sunsets!And our 2 small dogs were so welcome and had a wonderful time too.

Great place to get away.

South Addison is a great place to get away. The cottage was perfectly kept with a wonderful view. Great place to relax and drink coffee watching the tides come in and out.

Just what we needed

This sweet place is so peaceful and private. I swam at Roque Bluffs though it was quite chilly! We visited Columbia Falls Pottery in Machias and brought home some beautiful bowls! April and Dana were great! We spent many days just reading and relaxing. Fantastic spot!

Beautiful home and neighborhood

Beautiful view. Well equipped with everything we needed. We slept so well with the cool bay breeze. The owners provided valuable information for local seafood and excursions.

South Addison stay

Property was above and beyond what we were expecting. Well appointed kitchen and equipment. Detailed instructions on getting there, how to operate heating etc. Wonderful views, quiet area Very peaceful.

One of my most peaceful vacation

Incredibly beautiful location!!! Cottage very comfortable for 2 or even 3 people. Very clean. Ideal place for peaceful rest or creative work. Close to beautiful hiking trails !! Wonderful hosts !!! Thank you for sharing this piece of heaven with others.

Clean , has everything you need except for privacy. Neighbors on both sides. One is a good distance away and the other one is right next door. Did not realize there was a house so close. There is a road on the front side of the cottage which is very busy. The view of the ocean outback is really nice.

We are sorry that the cottage did not meet your expectations because of the location. The cottage is located in a fishing village and since it is in a village, there are other houses there. And the fishermen do go by to reach the wharf to go out to haul their traps. We apologize if this was disturbing but we hope that you were still able to enjoy your vacation. Enjoy Downeast Maine

The cottage was perfect for me. I wanted a place that was quiet, and a good place to explore Downeast Maine, and I found it. I wanted a place where I could bike, hike, and paddle, and it was all very close by. The neighbors were very friendly, the road was quiet, and the cottage was well furnished with what I needed. I could have asked for more.

Quiet laid back vacation

We sat on the beach near cottage in complete privacy and enjoyed watching the tide come in and the wild roses;ate seafood at Helens in Machias and at Scovills (this one is cash only)in Harrington....there are still places on the coast of Maine with no crowds and neon! A special 50th wedding anniversary trip! Cottage is comfortable and as described;sleep downstairs if steep steps/slanted walls a n issue.

Beautiful views

Brenda and Alan have a beautiful cottage. Everything mentioned in the listing is exactly as described. The sunsets were amazing, Acadia was only an hour and a half away. We took a ride up the coast to Lubec and took a boat tour with Downeast boat tours which was the highlight of the trip. The next day we headed over to Beal island for the best lobster rolls ever. Excellent vacation!

Beautiful, quaint location off the beaten path. Loved the location for convenient access to points north of bar harbor. Beautiful stars including milkyway. Great seafood locally. Host provided detailed list of restaurants and places to purchase seafood. And excellent instructions for appliances and pellet stove. Clean, well stocked, supermarket nearby for groceries. Highly recommend and would love to visit again.

Calming views, quiet walks and peaceful days

Our stay at the Addison, Maine cottage was perfect. We enjoyed walks all around the area in several directions, we enjoyed eating at suggested places (Scovill's and 44 Degrees), but most of all, we enjoyed the view! We had a wonderful week at the rental. The owners were easy to communicate with, the cottage had everything we could possible want or need, and our time there was so relaxing. Sweet cottage

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. The location is peaceful and quiet, and everything was clean and just as pictured. Just a note - if you have mobility issues, accessing the upstairs bedroom may be difficult for you as using the staircase involves some bending and twisting. It was fine for us 60-somethings with just slightly creaky joints!

I have very fond memories of staying in the cottage in South Addison, walking to the little harbor to buy fresh lobsters for lunch,,, and supper as it was so cheap! The view of the little island in front of the cottage is soothing as is the ocean. Enough to be inspired. All the little villages south are beautiful and there is a magnificent park, the name of which escapes me just now, that is North. I really enjoyed staying there.

Perfect Down East Cottage

This cozy, comfortable seaside cottage is a fabulous getaway location for two. It is well equipped, spotlessly clean, and delightfully decorated. Overall the cottage has a modestly rustic character which only enhances the enjoyment of this Down East experience. My wife and I spent the month of June and found the home and surrounding area to be a pure delight. The views across the water are fabulous, the daily changes in the tide are a joy to experience, and the stars at night are unbelievable. All of this is wonderfully matched by Brenda and Alan's lovely hospitality. Highly recommended. Stay here if you have the chance!

Quintessential Maine

I’ve always stayed near Acadia, but decided to go a little quieter this year and I found this amazing cottage on the water. Mornings were spent having coffee while watching the shore birds and locals digging for clams. The cottage faces west, so no gorgeous sunset was missed as we enjoyed our fresh lobsters from Caler Cove Lobster just 1/2 mi. Up the road. The cottage has everything you need including a charcoal grill and vegetable garden just out the back door! Our hosts were very responsive and provided an incredible amount of local information to help plan our adventures for the week (wine tasting, local blueberry farms, hiking, Maine Sea Salt company - many owned and operated by local families) One of my best Maine stays!

Serenity by the Sea

This cute little cottage has everything you could need to make your stay comfortable and peaceful. Even though it rained more than half the week I was there, I found myself enjoying sitting in front of the picture windows and watching the tides, the fog, the gulls, the geese, the hummingbirds and the eagles soaring. What a special spot this is! My soul was soothed after a very stressful year and this was the perfect place to get rejuvenated. The couple days of sunshine I was graced with were spent out by the garden just relaxing. The garden is full of different veggies and flowers, so I did help myself to a some of the bounty, thank you Alan and Brenda! The owners are very kind and made sure that I was safe once I left the cottage during Hurricane Lee which just happened to arrive the day my week had ended. What an exciting experience that was! All is well and I am very happy that I stayed at this wonderful cottage by the sea.
