Downtown-West Victorian House

Thanks so much for your review, Doug! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay; we do strive to make our houses as comfortable as we can for our guests, and always welcome suggestions to make them better :)

We're sorry this renter felt that the house met needs, but were compelled to be unhappy. To address your issues: 1 - We were out of town for the weekend and could not possibly have cleared the plumbing issue ourselves without driving 6 hours overnight to plunge a toilet. We apologized for not having a plunger at the house, so the best we could do in the interim (at 8pm) was to offer to reimburse them- and YES, we did offer to reimburse - for a plunger if it was an immediate need (which they said wasn't), instead of calling our plumber to the house at 8pm for a clogged toilet. Since we had not ever had problems with that toilet, we could not dismiss the fact that someone in the party may have put something in it to cause the backup (if this was the case, and a plumber had found that, that would have been the solution - take responsibility for own actions). To help with the issue, instead of calling our plumber on an emergency call, we asked our head of our cleaning crew to buy a good plunger (so they would not have to trouble yourself with it) and see if she could unclog the toilet (which she did) without having to call our plumber out. Again, since we were 6 hours away, we could not be there personally, so we did our best to address the situation without costing anyone unnecessary time or money. 2 - Given the close proximity to downtown and that the shelter meal kitchen is not far, there is a homeless population that frequents the area like you would find in any major city downtown. However, they have not bothered our guests or been a nuisance on the property. We also work in the office right next door and operate several other rentals in the area and have not had any issues with the homeless. Someone behind a bush across the street is hardly a safety issue. 3 - The 4th bedroom is as it is described in the listing and as shown in pictures. It is not misrepresented in any way. We do supply a heater/fan for that room to help push the air from the attached bedroom. 4 - We are having the A/C vents looked at to adjust the flow upstairs. Since the newer furnace/AC system was retro-fitted to the older home venting, the flow takes some adjusting to get it right. Again, we apologize that for one weekend this summer, we had plans out of town and could not be there personally to address the plumbing issue. We're not sure how else we could have better addressed that issue aside from leaving the wedding we were attending to drive 6 hrs to plunge a toilet.
