Maison historique de Catlett Gap

Le Catlett Gap Homestead est niché dans une vallée à mi-chemin entre Winchester et Berkley Springs. La cabane est antérieure à la guerre civile et était une propriété familiale cédée aux Catletts; certains d'entre eux vivent encore dans la région. À un moment donné, la cabine est mentionnée dans les registres de mouvements de troupes confédérés, et apparemment Stonewall Jackson a lui-même passé une nuit à l'intérieur de la cabine pendant une tempête de neige. Mais il y a certains conforts de créature tels qu'une TV intelligente, Wi-Fi, HVAC, cheminée, fosse BBQ, foyer, radio satellite, salle de bains, cuisine moderne entièrement approvisionné. Le brûlage à l'extérieur n'est autorisé que dans ces deux zones et seulement lorsque le risque de feu de forêt est faible. Il dispose de 2 chambres et un canapé, et peut accueillir jusqu'à 9 avec 2 personnes sur un matelas pneumatique. Autres commodités dans la porte comprennent une très grande cheminée en pierre, une petite bibliothèque de la faune locale, et d'autres romans classiques, ainsi qu'un lecteur DVD et une bibliothèque de DVD de près de 300 films. Il y a aussi un porche couvert avec des chaises à bascule. Et il y a 4 étangs près de la maison, dont deux sont remplis de poisson-chat. La capture et la remise à l'eau sont autorisées. Aucune licence requise. Il y a aussi une armoire pleine de jeux de société. En raison de la zone locale, il y a beaucoup d'activités amusantes à faire toute l'année. Par exemple, en été, la pêche est excellente et il y a beaucoup d'endroits à proximité. En hiver, la station de ski Whitetail est à seulement 50 minutes, et rester à la cabine et la conduite est beaucoup moins cher que de rester à la station. Cacapon State Park est à seulement 8 km et a des sentiers de randonnée ainsi que l'équitation, la pêche et la natation. Berkley Springs a des spas et des centres commerciaux antiques ainsi que de bons restaurants. Winchester a un zoo spécialisé dans les animaux exotiques. Il y a un Food Lion ainsi qu'une boucherie gastronomique à Berkeley Springs, et il y a un nouveau super Walmart à Winchester, selon votre choix. Great cabin, well-maintained, great options and very secure. Pet-friendly, the options were great and I even recommended this rental to my friends and family.I do plan on renting this cabin again in the future.

It was a lovely cabin with a cozy atmosphere. The shooting range was fun and theres a gas station right down the road if you need something. The host was nice and communicates well. 10/10 would stay again.

Nice cabin with great property. Endless things to do if your into the outdoors. Relatively close to all stores for being a pretty remote cabin. Would definitely recommend. Will be returning in the future.

We had the absolute best time at the cabin. My son (9) had a blast riding his atv on the trails with us. The kids also loved feeding the fish and playing darts, and we all had fun with the shooting range. The water does have a strange smell, but it’s a short drive to Berkeley Springs where we filled up a bunch of jugs. The cabin was convenient to the almost heaven swing at Cacapon, and we made it on the last day the summit road was open before they shut it down for the winter. Berkley Springs brewery was a great spot too. They allow dogs inside and have pup plates. We all had a blast and can’t wait to visit again!

Pictures didn’t show that a highway was right in front of it. Heard Semi Trucks all night long. The water had a smell. Beds hard as rocks.

Found this property to be exactly as described. We loved the rustic cabin. The property itself was fantastic. Enjoyed using the shooting range and walked along the ATV trail.

Great historic cabin bursting with character

A really awesome property where you can totally relax, hike, fish, shoot...or spend some time doing a deep dive reading the incredible hunting journal. Anthony is a great responsive and welcoming host. We brought a foster dog here and it was like medicine to her soul.

A peaceful time away from home.

Cute little cabin with lots of trails behind the cabin to walk on. Three ponds with fish. The dog enjoyed watching the fish eat. Plenty of room for a big family to hang out. A liitle noisy on the front porch due to being so close to the road, but its pretty secluded. Saw a groundhog, squirrels, blue heron, bald eagle, a toad and a box turtle all on the property. Would recommend!!

Cabin stay

We had a great time, the cabin is small but extremely comfy and cozy. The cleaning was ok, there was some dust. The 82 acres of land to hike is completely amazing!!! The owners had stock of things for cooking and home needs which was amazing. Anthony(the owner) completely amazing answering all our answers. Bathroom completely new :) too many good qualities in this cabin to mention all but I deeply recommend it!!!

Just what we needed...

This trip couldn't have come at a better time. We've been stuck in our house for 3 months and needed a change of scenery. The cabin was amazing - you can feel all the history as soon as you walk in. The owner thought of everything from paper products to toiletries. Our favorite part had to be the ponds. Our 13 year old enjoyed fishing and our 4 year old lab/collie mix loved to watch the fish jump out of the water when we fed them.

Gorgeous cabin

This was an amazing cabin surrounded by beautiful wooded acres. Everything was provided - linens, kitchen items/appliances, washer/dryer and TV/WiFi. And it's pet friendly. There are three ponds and my dog had to check them all out. The owner was very helpful in answering my questions and overall communications were great! I hope to be able to visit again soon.

Absolutely beautiful stay! The host is amazing. We loved the Koi pond, the outdoor grill and fire pit is the best. I absolutely recommend this cabin! I look forward to staying again!

Hunting Cabin

Hôte : Anthony Ray

Born and raised in Fairfax County, after having gone to James Madison HS four years, my friends and I had countless opportunities to visit the farm. I basically grew up there on the weekends, shooting, hunting, and fishing. Although most of my friends consider me a 'city boy' this property has a special place in my heart- and I'll never part with it. It will eventually end up being my son's when I move on.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

My dad bought this place from Mr. Bob Kerns, who in turn had purchased the property from the Catlett family many decades prior-who were the original homesteaders of the valley. The Catlett family built the house by hand. Some of the tools we still have. Some of the children were even born in the house. Mr. Kerns has one son who he deeded five acres of the 90 acre parcel to and is our nearest neighbor. He still lives there and is a close friend of the family. People describe the cabin as a 'man cave' or the 'ultimate hunting lodge' or a 'rustic farm cabin'. It's small but has all the creature comforts you would care about. All of my dad's friends, my friends, and myself have trophy bucks hanging on the wall there. When we shoot a big one, it is a group decision whether we keep the head-using Boone & Crockett measurements. If the deer is worthy for mounting, it stays at the cabin. If not, but still special we do a European mount and the owner decides whether they want to take it home or not.
