The Alley House is not just a great place to stay, it is an EXPERIENCE. The Alley itself is a tourist spot for its murals… the house is beautiful, totally unique and supplies all you need to R&R, cook and explore. I hope you joy it as much as we did.

Awesome in SF

We can't say enough good about the beautiful Balmy House. Excellent location - a wonderful, "classic" SF neighborhood with shops, restaurants and a lively street life - but super quiet on Balmy Alley. The house is charming, beautiful, comfortable and incredibly well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a memorable stay. We recommend highly!

Beautiful house in a beautiful neighborhood

The property was amazing for me and my friends the house is so nice you won’t even want to leave. Me and my friends had a fantastic time and I would highly recommend this place to anyone. With public transit close by you can go anywhere in the city. Lots of cafes and stores near by for all your needs. Would absolutely book again. I would give this place 100 stars if I could.

Great House and Location

We spent a long weekend at the beautiful Balmy Alley House. The pictures accurately represent the accommodations; although house was roomier than it appears in the pictures. The space was perfect for 3 couples, but would also work for families. Check-in and out was smooth. Location was wonderful with easy access to public transportation and excellent restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops.

Gorgeous house inside and out!

The Balmy Alley House is a true treasure — gorgeous artwork (both inside and out of the house), super clean and comfortable, incredibly quiet at night, and very welcoming. Even the LP collection is first-rate (and I collect records!). This space typifies a San Francisco experience that makes the city so unique, and John is an incredible host.

Highly Recommend The Balmy House

The three bedroom, three story Balmy house was a perfect layout for our party, one married couple and two singles. John, the owner, answered our call immediately when we had a question. The house is fully furnished including an eclectic album collection. The beds were comfortable, the showers hot, the kitchen equipped with everything we needed. Despite being In the heart of the Mission, the location of the house is very quiet. We enjoyed the Jewish deli and a taco shop both in close proximity. The murals of Balmy Alley were an interesting look at local culture. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Highly recommend!!

Since selling our family home, our family rents relatively often. This was one of the most pleasant of our experiences. The house is just as you see in the photos. It has a really nice warm and spiritually inviting vibe and when looking out the window, you're surrounded by wonderfully creative and vibrant street art. We stumbled into this great rental and its fabulous location by chance and absolutely loved it. Our host, John, was terrific! Very easy going, flexible and responsive to any question. The house, which John built himself, is perfectly set up by the separation of social areas (kitchen & living) from the bedrooms. He's thought of every detail, ie, comfy mattresses, plush pillows, large towels and rainfall shower heads with good solid water pressure. The neighborhood has some fun eateries and taking in the Mission District Street Art and accompanying Latin vibe made our trip for a family wedding, an unexpected extra delight. Thank you John for your warm hospitality. If you're able to rent this home, count your blessings!

Amazing location and vibes!

This was the best VRBO we’ve ever stayed in. Listing is super accurate, location perfect and John was amazing to work with. Ran into a few issues with VRBO and John was so patient. The layout of the home was perfect for our teenager to have his own space downstairs. Comfortable bedding, beautiful artwork…truly beautiful energy in the home. Record collection was superb along with the swinging chair in the living room, so fun for everyone. Enchanting patio/garden. Quick walk to anything you could need or want. Deep bath was so cool! Well stocked house, didn’t need to buy a thing. We did the Painted Ladies VW tour and it fit right in to the feeling of being transported back to the summer of love. Only issue was—-we had to leave😂 hope to come back within the year! Thanks so much John for sharing your piece of paradise with us!!

Can't say enough good about this place. The location was great. The house was great. We enjoyed being able to relax in it each evening after spending each day touring the surrounding area. The alleyway was a treat to walk down, as all the garages had murals painted on them. Very good artwork. We walked some days, but we learned quickly that Waymo was the most convenient means of getting around, since parking spaces are hard to get and the traffic is extremely busy. The location is just far enough from Fisherman's Wharf to merit the need for a ride.
