A beautiful property on a bucolic property. The cabin was perfect sized and very well appointed. We loved the working fireplace! Had we more time, the pool looked great and was heated. It was the perfect country setting for touring the Charlottesville area.

Sweet cottage but very dark with the small windows and dim lights in the living area. We would read in the kitchen at night because it was much brighter. The kitchen was cute but had a soiled, unwashed plastic cutting board, dusty cups and bowls, etc. no tops for the pots and pans and a missing bottom glass shelf in the fridge. The bedroom upstairs had no headboard on the bed, so when reading in bed your pillows were leaned up against the air conditioner right above your head. That was loud at night, and blew air too close to your head. The wooden tray in the living room on top of the coffee table was dirty and had small items The picnic table outside our cottage was in bad repair and there was only one old Adirondack chair. The hiking trails to the graveyard (which was incredibly overgrown with fallen trees, prickers and other vegetation. The hiking trails were not mowed so really long grass. Lots of ticks.

Rented 2 cottages for a girls trip. As expected the cottages are smaller due to that era.Might be cramped with 4 people. Beautiful and tranquil property. Excellent experience at the spa, lounging by the pool and fires at night. Close to shopping, wineries and restaurants. Kim and Nico were excellent hosts. These 4 ladies certainly enjoyed our stay.

Perfect cozy spot for a getaway

If you are looking for something outside of the hustle and bustle of the city, relaxing, quiet, yet close to many cool local spots and not far from Charlottesville... this is your spot! The cottage was so cute. Clean, welcoming, and most of all relaxing. We didn't get to utilize the pool b/c of the weather, but did take advance of relaxing by the pool 1 night just to enjoy some fresh air. Book your stay now, you won't regret it!

Nice and secluded

Communication with the hosts was easy. The property was nice, historic, and had a lot of space to roam. My wife and I live in a very rural part of Nevada and needed some time away from the city stuff we have to be on the east coast for. This little cabin and the surrounding land was perfect.

Perfect Weekend Destination

My daughter and I stayed in this beautiful cottage as part of a weekend trip to celebrate her birthday. We could not have hoped for anything better! We loved being able to stay in such a well restored piece of history. We also enjoyed the unbeatable scenery and frequent visits from the resident cats Charley and Carson. The location itself was perfect - away from the hustle and bustle, but easy distance to any attractions that we wanted to visit. I would definitely stay here again if visiting the area!

Perfect getaway

Some friends and I were wanting a weekend away while being close to vineyards and this was perfect! The cottage we stayed at was clean and had a cozy feel. The pool and beautiful surrounding were such a plus as well! Although communication was difficult during the stay (I’m guessing mostly due to poor service), all my questions beforehand were promptly answered. Would definitely stay there again!

The pool and the green pastures and the woods all provide a great backdrop. (We are in the Country side but close enough to stores etc ) Our guests plan day trips to wineries and historic sightings as the cottage is at the perfect location. We very much appreciate their stay and welcome them back anytime

Weekend Getaway

From selection to check in, the process could not have been easier. The location is perfect. Close enough to wineries, antiques and restaurants, but offers plenty of open space and peace and quiet. The history of the property is an added bonus. How often do you get to stay in a structure that has been around since the 1770’s! We’ll definitely be back.

Relaxing stay

We had an amazing 2 night stay at this beautiful home. The pool was so relaxing, we hung out there pretty much all day. My pup loved exploring the grounds as he took in all the new smells. The kitties are from the same rescue that we got our baby boy from. We would definitely stay here again. The hosts were very helpful and answered any questions we had promptly. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Such a lovely time!

What a wonderful 5 days we had on this beautiful farm! The cottage was perfect with plenty of room. We enjoyed having a full kitchen and the rose garden outside our door. A definite highlight was the pool and walking opportunities along with proximity to historic Gordonsville. We took an easy trip to Castle Hill Cidery in Keswick for one of their music evenings which I highly recommend. Nico and Kim were gracious hosts and available for any questions. Time in any season would be a nice getaway!

ABOUT THE OWNERS
Nico, originally from Holland, working all over the world and Kim a working actress and model based in Los Angeles paths crossed over 25 years ago on a flight from London to LA, and nothing has been the same since.

Since they met, it has been their dream to live on a farm; little did they realize this farm would be historic and in Virginia. The tree-lined driveway, beautiful buildings, rolling pastures, and wooded forests with the Blue Ridge Mountains in the backdrop, they knew this was the dream they always wanted and they wanted to share their love with anyone who is interested.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

Green Springs Historic Farm was built in 1772 in Gordonsville, Virginia by Colonel Richard Morris (c.1740-1821). He developed 1,746 acres of very fertile land by the mineral springs that gave the property its name.

Col. Morris was the Commissary for the Virginia Troops during the Revolutionary War and during this time his good friend Patrick Henry would frequent the property. His eldest son, Dr. James Maury Morris, inherited the home and property, and when Dr. Morris died in 1844, the home passed on to his son, William. The house was sold in 1877 after William was killed in battle during the Civil War. Green Springs Historic Farm has changed owners several time over the decades, but the integrity of Col. Morris home has remained constant.

The Green Springs National Historic Landmark District contains 14,000 acres of fertile agricultural land and more than 250 original eighteenth and nineteenth century homes, barns and other outbuildings. Bounded by Route 15 and Route 22 in the western end of the county, the area is six and one-half miles long, four and one-half miles wide. There was an early Quaker settlement in the 1720's on Camp Creek. Soon after, several families moved up from Hanover county, established major farms, and, over succeeding generations, intermarried, adding farmhouses and manors through the mid-1860's. A drive through Green Springs today reveals pastoral vistas and "an assemblage of rural architecture that is unique in Virginia," according to the Virginia Landmarks Commission.
