We stayed in this villa for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is well appointed and the pool and the vista is fantastic. The house is in a relatively remote location, so we enjoyed having the hillside to ourselves. We enjoyed Skopelos and staying at the Glossa end of the island was great - it was very quiet with very few tourists. Glossa is sleepy and charming and not touristy. You really need a car if you stay here.
We really enjoyed this property, however there are a couple of things to beware of when booking this property, and they are:
- whilst this property looks close to Glossa, and indeed, is, as the crow flies, the actual road to this house from Glossa takes about a 20-30 minute drive. All roads on Skopolos are narrow, but the access road down to the villa is more a track which is in poor repair - it is very steep, narrow and quite treacherous & not much fun in the dark. We hired a Panda and it was not really the right kind of car for the terrain it had to cross. So think about this if you are renting the property. Note that you can walk to Glossa from the house - along a track, which takes about 30 minutes. We did that on the nights we wanted to have a drink with dinner, rather than hassle with the drive.
- unbelievably in this day and age there is no WIFI in the villa. Sure, I probably overlooked this when I made the booking, but when you pay a premium price, you expect that this would be part of the deal.
- there are three cats on the property. Someone will come every 3-4 days to feed them, and despite this, they are hungry. We had to buy food to feed them to keep them quiet, otherwise they made life hell. They would climb the door and window screens to try to get into the house and you most definitely could not eat outside. Once we started feeding them, they were OK. But again, if this is a premium property, you don't expect this hassle. I love my pets at home, but I don't want the responsibility of domestic animals whilst on vacation.
- the cable TV - we could only get 2 news stations to work and otherwise is was white-out on the screen - not a big deal for us - but just saying...
