We hosted Mr. Robert Butelette from August 3rd to 10th. Upon his arrival, he requested to check in at 11 AM instead of 5 PM,. Despite this, we did our best to prepare the villa. The villa is inspected and maintained every winter: the deck is repainted, and all installations are checked. However, due to the summer heat and exposure to the sea air, it is inevitable that some elements may deteriorate slightly. These maintenance tasks are carried out annually during the off-season, and it is impossible to perform them more frequently since the villa is rented out. Mr. Butlet made several unjustified complaints. He claimed that the house was damp and had a bad smell, but when asked to provide photographic evidence, none was received. Our cleaning teams routinely take photos after each cleaning to document the state of the property, and we have proof that these accusations are unfounded. From the moment he arrived, Mr Butlet seemed intent on finding faults, even pointing out a small rust spot on a leg of the outdoor ventilation motor, which is a common occurrence given our seaside location. It is clear that Mr. Butlet was trying to obtain a refund. However, our rigorous procedures and the reports conducted by professionals, which we have submitted to VRBO, show that his claims are baseless. Regarding his claim of having seen a rat in the garden, we have never observed any in ten years, although it is normal to see snakes or insects in an area close to vegetation. If one does not wish to encounter local wildlife, it is better to rent a house in the city rather than in the midst of nature. Mr. Butlet also claimed that his relatives had to leave the villa, which is entirely false. His behavior seems motivated by a desire to harm us, probably because he did not receive compensation. It is unacceptable for some tenants to try to take advantage of property owners by attempting to enjoy a free vacation. Our other reviews on various platforms, such as Airbnb and Google, demonstrate our guests' satisfaction. I had already reported this situation to VRBO at the arrival of Mr Buttlet, providing all necessary evidence. I hope VRBO will take appropriate measures to prevent this type of tenant from renting through their platform again. It is unfair for someone who threatens to leave the villa because it supposedly did not meet their expectations, to then stay until the end of their stay and even request to extend their departure until 2 PM instead of 10 AM. If the villa was truly unsatisfactory, they should have left earlier at the beginning as i suggest him. i report also they broke a decoration of a value of 250€ but they didn’t inform us.., very dissapointed with this type of people.
