Visitez quelques-unes des cascades les plus pittoresques du monde car il y en a trois trĂšs prĂšs du chalet. Roaring Fork Falls, Setrock Falls et Crabtree Creek Falls sont tous Ă moins de dix minutes.
The scenery from the cabin and surrounding area was beautiful. The main floor bed very comfortable and lots of tv channels. Communication with host was excellent. Lots of information and instructions given with clarity. We enjoyed our day time adventures and comfortable nights back at the cabin.
The cabin was so cute and the owner thought of everything! It was stocked with everything you might need and TV and wifi instructions. The pantry had it all!
We had a lovely long weekend at Roaring Fork Chalet with its rustic mountain vibe. Highly recommend hiking to Roaring Fork Falls - itâs beautiful! There are still several places closed from the effects of Hurricane Helene in 2024. It looks like the golf course nearby was beautiful before the storm ravaged it. We couldnât get to Mt. Mitchell, but did get some fabulous pictures from the Blue Ridge Parkway overlook. Highly recommend strolling around downtown Burnsville - such a cute town. Homeplace Brewery was a lot of fun and we had a great brunch at Carriage House Sundries. The views were spectacular from the chalet and we enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings. Such a relaxing place for a nice getaway!
We had a great 2-night stay with family, super easy and comfortable all around. Despite the warnings and thematic decor, we didn't see a single bear - equally a relief and a disappointment. Some local roads are still out after Helene and we couldn't easily get to Mt Mitchell without a lengthy detour, wish we had looked more closely at that in advance but we still had a great time exploring! Side note: If you book a property with a refundable damage deposit, VRBO will charge the deposit amount immediately upon booking and hold it until 14 days after your stay ends, the host has no ability to release it sooner.
We had reservations on a long weekend that coincided with a storm that came in and dropped a lot of snow. The only road in and out was a steep road with many narrow switchbacks. Initially the owner asked if we would like to cancel but we said we were still interested in staying but would change our mind if we got there and it seemed unsafe. After arriving we decided not to stay and immediately packed up and left. We then asked the owner to consider a future credit, and he completely stopped responding. We did not ask for a refund, only a partial credit for a future stay. We are very disappointed in missing out on our vacation, made worse by this property ownerâs lack of accommodation to what he clearly knew was going to be an unsafe situation.
I called and spoke to Jamey days before his scheduled arrival. I told him that a winter storm may be bringing in some snow. I asked him several times to cancel/reschedule but he said "I know how to drive in snow as I was born in Washington state and raised in Alaska". I said okay but I would recommend canceling or rescheduling. He said, don't worry we'll be okay.
Well, they drive up to the chalet and checked the local weather forecast, and decided to leave. He said his gf got scared and forced them to leave.
I don't think it's fair for someone to be forewarned of a situation, insist on coming anyway, tie up the rental so I could not rent it for the weekend, AND then expect a refund or to reschedule after checking in and leaving.
I was VERY fair and open with Jamey but he made the decision AFTER I advised him to NOT come to the chalet.
We manage/own dozens of WNC mountain vacation rentals and all of them are in the mountains. Meaning, you will have to drive up and down some mountains because that's the terrain of 'mountains'. That's why people visit the area - The mountains.
I have always done my best to be 110% honest with everyone as I did here with Jamey. Unfortunately, he didn't take my advice and I feel like that was his mistake. He seems like a nice guy but he's upset about his decision.
It was a welcome retreat. We could darken the bedroom downstairs and sleep like bears, no noise, no alarms. Wonderful deck and easy kitchen. Some kitchen appliances were not cleaned so well, so I did it, and we didn't have TP. Ug. Long drive to town and groceries. Do it before you go. Loved the atmosphere and the kindness of the manager.
Our group of high school best friends hiked Mt Mitchell for our annual trip. This sweet little cabin was perfect for our needs with a great location. The check in and arrival process was so EASY and seamless. The property was well maintained. And the cabin was really well stocked. The downstairs bedroom was a little warm - even with the windows open, could use a small fan. The drive up to the cabin is a bit eye popping - really steep road! Glad we weren't driving in bad weather or the dark. However, we loved the privacy and wooded view from the lovely deck. Overall, it was perfect for us and we'd definitely consider staying again.
Thank you for taking the time to review Roaring Fork Chalet. Yes, the roads came sometimes get a tad steep but in order to get up to 3,500+ feet in elevation you have to drive uphill. lol
Thanks again! Ron
I am Ron the owner. I live in nearby Asheville, and I enjoy hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and exploring the mountains with my chocolate lab Nellie.
I stayed at a cabin in the same subdivision for years. On one of my trips to the vacation cabin, I passed a For Sale sign. I immediately called the Realtor and purchased the chalet that day in June of 2006.
It's been my secret ever since. A place to escape the bore of the office, traffic, noise, people, and everyday routines.
Now, I share it with other like-minded people. It's an honor to share it with ya'll!
Roaring Fork Chalet is unique in that it's located in a quiet subdivision but has the feel of being in the woods. The chalet is surrounded by woods with no homes visible. The neighborhood is only 110 homes of which close to 100 are seasonal.
The layout is rich with natural hardwood floors, pine walls, and ceilings with a minimalistic feel.
