Northstar Haven is a vacation rental property located in Detroit Lakes across the street from Big Detroit Lake. Take advantage of all the amenities that Detroit Lakes has to offer by staying in this beautifully furnished vacation rental. It's a perfect place for a family vacation get-away or a gathering of friends. It comfortably sleeps up to 10 people with 2 queen beds and one full sized bed up stairs and 2 twin beds (trundle bed) and 2 air mattresses down stairs (perfect for kids) and two full bathrooms. Kids will have a great time playing in the big yard. The large fire pit is perfect for evening bon fires. Big Detroit Lake is right across the street. Inquire about nearby beaches and boat rentals. Fireside Steakhouse is also across the street and several great restaurants are within a short drive.

Perfect stay at Northstar Haven

The Northstar Haven was perfect for our mini family reunion. It had everything we needed and more. The hosts definitely wanted us to relax, have fun and enjoy. The beds were comfortable, kitchen well stocked and a nice deck to hang out on. I would definitely recommend it to others.

We love this little house!

We have stayed here twice now and it is perfect for our needs. The house is clean and spacious. The owner was very responsive when we struggled with the key pad and we were in in a matter of minutes. We will definitely be back!

Great Family Time

This property was the perfect place for our family get together. The host was very accommodating and quickly responded to questions we had before and throughout our stay. The house was in a nice, quiet location with a perfect yard for games and a nice fire pit. We enjoyed our time on the lake, playing yard games, and time around the fire with our family. Perfect spot for a long weekend get away!

I rented this property for a group of 8 people to stay in Detroit Lakes for a long weekend for a friend’s wedding. The location was perfect; the space was big enough for all of us to enjoy; the wrap around porch was ideal for morning coffee; and the kitchen was fully stocked with equipment and spices to cook! Communication with the host was easy and efficient. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a get away weekend in Detroit Lakes to book this property!

July 4th Holiday

Nicely appointed 3 bd house was perfect housing for our family as we joined an extended gathering at a nearby lake. The house had comfy rooms, plenty of kitchen tools and good location to conveniences & Detroit Lake. We loved the styling of this little house. The roomy downstairs was a plus. Good local biking, dining and shopping. Thx!

Perfect

We had eight girls staying here over the weekend for a get together. It fit us all perfectly and the large living room downstairs was more than enough room for activities. The owner was very accommodating and didn’t hesitate to answer any of my questions. It was located in a nice quiet neighborhood, the yard was decent size, and the house was cute and clean. I would highly recommend staying here :)

Family time

We used the house for over flow family visiting my parents that live nearby. It was perfect! So much room! We didn’t use all the space. The owner was very responsive when we had trouble with the key pad and she solved it right away! We would definitely stay again! The fire pit in back was a bonus!

Location, location, location!!

Besides this being a great property for our family, the location was so convenient to everything in Detroit Lakes. A wonderful restaurant practically across the street called Fireside we walked to. My adult daughter and her son walked one day to rent kayaks from the Holiday Inn and than the next day to rent a tandem bike to ride around the lake. We rented a pontoon boat from there as well and spent an afternoon on the lake. Very close to grocery stores and downtown shops. Zorba's was a fun atmosphere for pizza and Mexican food right across from the public beach. Anne was very helpful to answer any questions or concerns. Highly recommend North Star.

Great stay option

We really enjoyed the house. The only problem we experienced and not sure it’s clear on the listing is there is not central AC. The living room and kitchen stay comfortable but the bedrooms are pretty warm even with the small fans provided to plug in. We cracked the windows to get in some breeze but if it’s muggy or hot that’s not going to bring any relief and the 10” bedside fan will only hit one person in the bed. The grill, kitchen and deck spaces are awesome. Family came over from their hotels and we cooked and there was plenty of seating and comfortable seating which is most important. We would definitely rent again just have to consider the AC and temps.

Detroit Lakes stay - July 4th

- The house was nice, clean and well represented on the web site. - There was no firewood beyond the sticks, wood shingles and scraps of 2X4's set up in the fire pit what lasted about 1hr. - Although the site say's the public beaches are a few miles away, they show a pic of a dock and they say the lake is directly across the road. The problem is that sitting on the deck of the house, you wouldn't know a lake is across the road because of trees. Can't see it at all. And the dock in the picture is 3/4's of a mile down the road with no walking path. So, if you are thinking you could have a morning cup of coffee or glass of wine on the dock across the road, you will be VERY disappointed.

Air conditioning is lacking for hot days. Host has a lot of “to do” items for guest including watering her plants. The to do list kept us from using many features of the home ie grill and fire pit… Records but no access to the record player. In addition we are seniors and did not want to be toting laundry down the stairs to start the bath towels for the housekeepers. On check out day we had to get up earlier than we had hoped because of the cleaning list. We couldn’t cook breakfast eat and enjoy the morning: Disappointing for the cost. Very clean and comfortable except the items listed above. We selected for three bedrooms main floor.

I'm Anne--spelled like Ann but pronounced like Annie. I grew up in ND but have spent the last 22 years in Pittsburgh. I have 2 adult children and 4 grand daughters. I have survived many things including breast cancer and I believe in living each day that the Lord gives me to the fullest and doing life with those I love.

Professionally I run an events company that manages corporate events. I have owned and managed several rental properties and VRBO's over the years.

I love my family. I love to travel. I love great food and expensive coffee and red wine. I love to see new places, wander around quaint shoppes and try new things. I have amazing friends and beautiful and talented kids and grand kids.

Buying The Northstar Haven was a return to my northern/mid-west roots and a return to family. I'm excited to share it with you and I hope you feel love, joy and peace while you are here and make many amazing memories with friends and family.

You will love staying here because of it's perfect location in a quaint resort town and because this place offers all the comforts of home away from home. My great Auntie used to always say, "You can't be fussy when you're camping!" Well, there's nothing to fuss about here! This is MN camping at its best. And if there's anything you find that's not up to par, please let me know how I can fix it.
