The Bay Cottage is located in Tryphena and situated in a prime location directly across the street from Gooseberry Flat & Par stunning swimming beaches. Only a hop skip and jump from the Stonewall Store for your grocery needs and Par Cafe & the Currach Irish Pub.

A tropical studio paradise for guests to enjoy in total comfort. Natural timbers mixed with quirky touches, blending beautifully into the Great Barrier Island environment. With total guest comfort in mind, you will enjoy a comfortable king size bed for a great nights sleep, a brand new bathroom with large shower, gas hot water and adjustable shower nozzle.

The alfresco deck area has a true barrier feel with spacious outdoor kitchenette, gas hobs, mini fridge and coffee machine, everything needed for your little escape from the world. Enjoy the tropical garden, ocean breezes and water views. It`s paradise and surrounded by natural beauty. Enjoy the Tui song, Kaka Parrots & Kereru in the many Pohutukawa Trees on the property.

Although completely off grid you do not need to go without home comforts here, you have unlimited WIFI, quality bed linen and towels, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, tea, coffee, sugar, expresso capsules, milk, toilet paper, cooking oil, salt & pepper supplies. Just bring your food and start relaxing.

There is one carpark on site (drive is steep) or parking directly across the street by the waterfront. We also offer Claris Airport Pickup/Drop Off $40 per trip. Tryphena Wharf pickup $25 per trip. Free use of kayaks. Stand-up paddle boards $15 each per day (subject to availability)

Your hosts Pete & Jo are experienced passionate hosts committed to making your holiday a special one.

The cottage is privately located on the owners property. Guests are left to enjoy the space and Pete & Jo are available if needed at anytime.

Great Barrier Island is located 100 kilometres of Auckland. It is a flight or ferry from Auckland to Great Barrier island. Flights via Barrier Air or Ferry via Sealink.

Please no hairdryers, due to the island being completely off grid.

The cottage has a gas heater in the cottage which has the bed, couch and bathroom, the decked area with the kitchen is closed in 3 sides with a pull down blind on the open side, guests need to be aware that this area in winter is not heated.
