The Space:
Melmarie Cosy Retreat X by Tiny Away is nestled in a peaceful seaside pocket of Otago, just 21 minutes from Dunedin on New Zealand’s South Island. Perched atop a 500-metre uphill driveway, the tiny home offers sweeping views of surrounding farmland, native bush, and open countryside, with only a few distant homes to interrupt the landscape.

For those eager to explore, nearby attractions include Doctor’s Point Reserve and the Orokonui Lagoon Walk, making it the perfect outdoor play for nature lovers and tranquil coastal walks.

A cozy 139-square-foot tiny home with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette with cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and gas-heated shower—making it a perfect choice among relaxing holiday homes.

IMPORTANT NOTE: There are two holiday homes located close enough for guests who wish to socialize, while still offering ample space and privacy for those who prefer a more secluded stay.

The tiny home will be situated in a flat, graveled area and surrounded by native plantings to provide both shelter and privacy.

Guest Access:
Guests will have access to our cozy tiny home and are welcome to:

- Walk or drive on the main driveway
- Enter other areas of the property if invited by the owner or family members.

Safety & Privacy Restrictions:

- Access to farm shed areas is not allowed due to safety reasons
- Please avoid entering paddocks with livestock—our electric fences are for safety, so we ask guests to stay near the holiday homes.

Melmarie Cosy Retreat X by Tiny Away sits in the quiet seaside village of Waitati, just 21 minutes from Dunedin. It’s a peaceful retreat that still keeps you close to city events like concerts or rugby games at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

Explore nearby beaches, visit the Orokonui Ecosanctuary, or enjoy local favourites like Blueskin Café, Arc Brewery, and the local art gallery.

Getting Around:
By car:

- From Waitati to Dunedin 20 min drive 20km -any vehicle
- From Waitati to Christchurch 4hrs 300km - any vehicle

By public transport:

- Nearest city by train is Dunedin from there to here there is a public bus service that runs morning and evenings with drop off at Blueskin general store then I could collect guest or 20 min walk to property.
- There is taxi service from Dunedin to Here

Other Things to Note:
- No Wifi
- No pets allowed
- Gas BBQ grill is available
- No outdoor fire pit and firewood
- A Bottle of wine and nibbles for a fee
- Breakfast toast or cereal available for a fee
- No unregistered guests or visitors allowed
- No smoking inside the tiny home, except outdoors
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- This is a Working Farm, so the shed area is off-limits. You may occasionally hear farm machinery or cattle.
- There may be "barking dogs" and "wandering cats" on the property. We kindly ask that you do not encourage them to come inside

- Due to its rural location, wildlife and insects may be present
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain our cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
