We had a nice time staying at this spot. It's very quiet, wooded and private. The cottage is well-appointed with cooking items and bed linens. The host was very responsive when we encountered a few issues. It was most unfortunate that we were unable to use the two basement bedrooms as we had planned, which gave us few options other than cramming into the two upstairs bedrooms. We made it work and the host offered many helpful suggestions. We are a family with two kids and our in-laws visited for part of our stay. A few issues for cleanliness were disappointing for the price, though we did come to an arrangement for the inconveniences. As others have mentioned, there is a significant climb down several flights of stairs to the lake. Not an ideal spot for young children due to steel climb and hill drop off. Our kids are 6 and 9 and were ok, we all enjoyed the kayaks and canoe immensely. The swimming was warm though water was fairly dark/murky. Spotted several loons on the lake and it was incredibly quiet as there are no motor boats. Very scenic. The drive in is pretty steep on the gravel roads, wouldn't want to be traveling in poor weather. The main floor of the cottage was cozy and with more careful attention to a thorough deep clean between guests I would have rated this a more splendid experience. We left feeling happy for our stay overall and appreciate the responsive nature of the host. We enjoyed the town of Bancroft, too.
