Modern Home on Quiet Lake, Townsend WI

Welcome to your home away from home, where you'll find everything you need for a relaxing vacation. The lower level has a full kitchen, 1 bedroom, 1 full bathroom with a shower, laundry room and living room. Walk outside to enjoy the lakeside fire pit. Upstairs you'll find another full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, another full bathroom with tub and shower, and a spacious deck overlooking the lake. Go up one more level to the roomy loft with two more beds, a desk and more amazing views! This home sleeps 10 comfortably in beds.

Smoke lake provides a quiet oasis, and is connected to Little Pickerel and the fully recreational Pickerel Lake. The boating rules are set by Pickerel Lake Association - generally, no wake from 5PM to 10AM. Enjoy fishing year-round for Bass, Crappie, Perch and Northern right from the dock. (Boats may be available for rental at Powers Service Center right in Townsend, but make your reservation for it early!) Launch your boat or jet ski on Pickerel Lake and navigate through the channel to get to our lake and home where you can park your standard size boat. We do have two exterior cameras monitoring the driveway and the dock when the home is vacant.

PLEASE NOTE: Our dock is removed between Fall and Spring. (Specific dates depend on seasonal weather, but generally our dock is in place between Memorial Day and Labor Day.) If you are bringing your boat, or if having a dock is important to you, please inquire with us before you make your reservation.

In fall and/or winter, hop on your ATV or snow mobile and ride the connected trails which are only .2 miles away! There are places in Townsend or Lakewood that may have winter equipment rental for you, like snow shoes, etc.

Grocery and hardware stores, restaurants, and bars just minutes away. More dining and shopping is close by in the neighboring town of Lakewood. There are several golf courses in the area, and Carter Casino is 5 miles away.

This was our second time staying here. The house is cozy and plenty of room for the 8 people we had. The lake is quiet with great fishing. The ATV trail is right down the road so it makes easy access to go to all the surrounding towns. The local pubs are also great for drinks and food. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a Northwood's lake experience.

Once again our stay at this beautiful lake house was great. The only issue was the AC had went out but the owner went above and beyond it have it repaired within 24 hours. Could not be happier and hope to be back in 2026.

The property on Smoke Lake made for a fantastic getaway. It was a quiet and peaceful setting for our family. We spent much of each day on the dock and deck while the evenings were either by the fire or around the large table playing cards. We truly enjoyed our stay!

Townsend House on Smoke Lake

Loved our week here. It was quiet, the fish were biting, we used the fire pit every night. The loons, cranes and even trumpeter swans were so entertaining. Coffee on the deck in the mornings was beautiful. Plenty of room, great facilities and a relaxing wonderful week of family time was had by all.

Deer Camp

My brother and I stayed here with our families over the WI deer gun season opening weekend. The place and location was perfect. The cabin was well stocked and we had a great experience and time.

Perfect House for our weekend get-away

This is a beautiful home that met all of our expectations. There was plenty of room for myself and my adult children and their families. The pier was still in, which was a nice surprise since we booked in the fall. We took full use of the kayaks and paddles boat. The grandkids had a blast riding in the paddleboat. The layout of the house was great. Everyone had enough room and personal space. The house is decorated very tastefully and comfortable. Everyone had a great time.

Better than imagined.

This property is better than advertised. We had multiple visits from family during our 2 week stay and everyone was very comfortable and impressed. We kayaked, used the pedal boat, fished allot, had campfires and made s'mores. The weather cooperated on most days. I rented a pontoon which was fun for the group. Loons were out every day as were the swans, heron, deer, and chipmunks. Really close to town for grocery shopping. We brought far too many clothes! There are washers and dryers on site and we used them a few times. All in all, we were very happy with Taunya and Tom and all they did for us. We hope to be back again soon.

Relaxing Lake House

This home was perfect for our family vacation with our adult children & our grandchildren. Plenty of space for everyone, comfortable beds and the lower level also has a kitchen with living room. We enjoyed the paddle boat, kayaks & dock to fish off of. A few minutes from a grocery store, restaurants & a place to rent pontoon. House was very clean. Everyone wants to go back again someday.

Family Weekend

It’s a beautiful home with everything we needed and a spectacular view. With bad weather we only had one day to enjoy the outdoor area and the lakefront, and it wasn’t very well kept— both the yard and the lake frontage. We brought our boat but navigating to the house took quite awhile from the launch through a very narrow path full of large stumps and weeds. Swimming off the dock isn’t real enjoyable as it’s very mucky, shallow and weedy. The fishing was pretty good off the dock, however. Lots of bluegill. And having the kayaks there to use was nice. Overall the hosts were extremely responsive and helpful.

Loved our 3rd stay!

This is our third winter stay here, and we continue to love it. Perfect layout for multiple families, plenty to do in the area, house has everything you need plus lots of things you want. I bet it’s fantastic in the summer too! Lovely view to wake up to, house is immaculately kept and tidy, and hosts are very responsive with clear instructions. Highly recommend!

Great fall escape

Stayed for opening weekend of deer hunting with our family hunting group. Pictures are very accurate and it is close enough to everything but you feel like you are very secluded. Wonderful cabin with plenty of room for everyone. Will be back next year for sure.

Sweet lil getaway

Had a wonderful stay at the Hummingbird house with my family. Beautiful property. We were all very comfortable. Utilized both kitchens and living spaces. Kitchens were fully stocked and we were able to cook breakfast and dinner for the few nights we stayed. Beds were very comfortable. Loved the location. Just minutes away from two different grocery stores and restaurants. Hosts had great and quick communication. I would definitely stay here again.

Tom has been coming to the area for over 20 years and always dreamed of having a place "Up North." Taunya grew up in the desert, so having a home on the lake is a dream come true. We really hadn't planned to buy a property yet, but as soon as we saw this one, we knew it was the one for us! We love coming here with our family and friends, and are happy to share it with you! We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do!

We love that Smoke Lake is so quiet. It's great to be able to paddle through the channel over to Little Pickerel Lake, then on to (the bigger) Pickerel, a full recreational lake. It really is the best of both worlds.

Spending time on the deck or around the firepit is awesome. The views are unmatched. And listen closely to hear the loons!

Our location is easy to find. It is so peaceful that you feel like you're really remote. Yet you'll find everything you need, from shopping to dining and more, just minutes away.

We fell in love the moment we walked in the door. We love that we can bring our whole family and everyone has plenty of room. We can enjoy big family meals at the dining tables, or coffee on the deck in the morning. We can sit around the fire outside, or by the fireplace inside. There's enough to keep busy - if you want to - with lake activities in the Summer or snow activities in the Winter. Or just relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the north woods.
