Relax & Refresh at Rockwood Cottage

We are very excited to share Rockwood Cottage with you. Our two bedroom home with on suite full bathrooms is tucked away in a secluded area not too far from the hustle and bustle. It is a great place to cozy up in front of a fire and watch the sun set over the mountains. There is a full kitchen with cookware, dishes, utensils and accessories. Dining room area with large table to host holiday meals. Each room equipped with fireplaces, televisions, cables boxes and high speed WiFi throughout. In the summer time there is a bbq and patio furniture in the backyard. The cottage is located a short stroll (approx 75 steps) to the lake when you want to take out the kayaks.

Heavenly Mountain, Casinos and South Lake Tahoe Downtown Area is 12 minutes away for lively evenings, summer hiking and winter skiing. Northstar Mountain is just under an hour away. Shopping center for groceries 8 mins away.

Front parking pad is heated. Access to 32 amp electric car charger in the carport.

Rockwood Cottage - Great for families

The Rockwood Cottage was amazing! Great location and we really enjoyed the private beach. The kitchen is well stocked and the host was always easy to get a hold up if questions came up.

Quaint cabin

We came for a long weekend to explore the Lake Tahoe area and do some hiking. Made the mistake of renting a large SUV, the neighborhood is difficult to get into off the busy road and the streets are very narrow. Parking at the cabin also very tight but my hubby got good at getting into the covered carport in back. Cabin is very cozy and clean, highly recommend staying here!!

Rockwood Rocked

Super cute and cozy cabin. Well decorated and has everything you need. The lake is a short walk down a trail, and there’s a little beach to watch the sunset. The hosts are very quick with communication. Overall, great place and awesome stay. 👌

SUNSET BEACH!

We loved staying here. It was just like the pictures. The beach is super close as well as a Safeway nearby. We really enjoyed watching the sunset on the beach which is less than a block away. Like 3-5 min walk, super close. They had kayaks and all the amenities we were looking for. It was wonderful sitting around the fire-pit at night too. Highly recommend.

Comfortable cottage

What a lovely cottage with so many unique features. I felt at home. Where do I start to explain what I loved most: the stone floor and walls, the welcome gift, the view, the location, fully equipped kitchen, front and back yard sitting areas, the private beach area to watch the sunsets. The neighborhood is very small and quiet. My husband and I have only good things to say about this cottage.

Rock wood stay

Great location and perfect neighborhood beaches. This is my second stay in this cabin and while we enjoyed our stay the property needed some repairs and wasn’t very clean. The light above the stove was very dirty and there were cobwebs in several rooms. While the air conditioner was an added bonus a screen door on the front door would be perfect to let the fresh air in.

Rustic charmer

The home is very unique and rustic with loads of charm. It was the best stocked rental we have ever encountered. The host included everything you could need with many personal touches. Cozy and relaxing front & back seating areas with a peek-abo view of the lake surrounded by beautiful pine forest. The neighborhood was quite nice and upscale although the proximity to other houses is close, so privacy isn't ideal if their occupied, however this seemed to be the case with most rentals in this area and wasn't an issue with us. The location is convenient to all Tahoe destinations. We really enjoyed our 7 days stay and would highly recommend especially at this price point.

Perfect getaway

The description of the property is very accurate. It's literally steps away from beautiful Lake Tahoe. You can lie in bed and see the lake through the trees next to a roaring fireplace. The cabin appears to have been tastefully restored from an old rock wall home to a cozy, warm and inviting two bedroom home with all the amenities you'd want. The proximity to Stateline, Carson City and Zephyr Cove is perfect. Near enough to have access but far enough to feel disconnected. The wifi is high speed so we were also able to spend a day working. Highly recommend this place and we will be back.

Wonderful stay! Everything you could want & more!

We were very pleased with our decision to stay in this cute cabin. It’s cozy, well kept, and stocked with everything you could need & more. I always come well prepared because you never know what will be provided. I definitely brought more than I needed! We cooked at the house & I was pleasantly surprised by the condition. For example, sometimes you go out for coffee because you don’t want to use the coffee machine or you don’t cook because of the condition of the pots & pans. You know what I mean right? It felt more like a friend had opened up their home to us than a rental. The house is in a quiet neighborhood & the little path across from the house to the water is a special treat. We enjoyed the view and went down to sit by the water more than once. We will definitely check availability for our next trip!

Property not as advertised!

This is a SCAM - We planned a trip after new years for 4 nights. Property said it had two parking spots - one with an EV charger. Got there - both parking spots were INACCESSIBLE. No one shoveled or put salt down for entry. My husband and I had to shovel for 1.5 hours just to try and get in. Pure ice. Didn’t work. No street parking or your car would be towed. Talked to the owner, they said we can have a refund because they couldn’t come and help us get into the property. We left, told them we left, and booked a hotel for the night and called VRBO. 9 days and still no refund. Then I get an email from the owner saying no refunds as the property was still reserved for us. WOW. TOTAL SCAM.

Enjoyed our stay #2

We felt like we were coming home to our own little cottage. The neighborhood is so charming. We went for a swim on the little beach down the road and took some walks. Also took some local trips. I did more cooking this time. There are all the utensils you need to cook a meal. The only thing missing is a ladle. It’s nice to have coffee items supplied. I resupplied the sugar canister for the next guests. Also made sure the dishes were all washed and put away and refrigerator cleaned out. I did forget to log out of my Amazon account on the TV, if someone could do that it would be great. Enjoyed the cheese and crackers as it was the only food we had our first night. We didn’t stop at the store on our way in and the entrance road was all torn up, we were lucky to get to the cottage. Had to wait until the road was completed the next day in the late afternoon to get out to the market. Thank goodness for popcorn! We always try to treat other folks property as if it is our own. Wedded Bliss

My bride and I LOVED our elopement in Lake Tahoe and especially at the Martin’s Rockwood Cottage. The cabin was a cozy, clean, intimate and PRIVATE getaway. Close enough to all the fun in South Lake/Heavenly, but just far enough to make our drives scenic and romantic. A return trip will be in the works, if the Martins will have us again. Lots of beautiful memories!

If you’re looking for a perfect location to swim, Kayak, and just relax this is the perfect choice. Steps from the lake and close to restaurants and many fun activities. The owners have made every effort to make this rental a special experience.

Amazing stay!

Deep, Rich Character!

This home is incredibly unique. Full of character! Loved using the kayaks which were easily launched after ~50yd portage aided copiously by the included strap-on wheel sets. Made this excursion so simple!! Breakfasts were easy to prepare in the well-equipped kitchen and were terrific to consume while sitting on either front deck (with nice gas fire going for mild heat and ambiance in the early morning) or on the rear patio area. The bathrooms are quite interesting [unique] and require a bit of coordination for full privacy. A few too remote controls for our taste, but everything worked as it should. The home brings the outdoors inside via the use of stone and wood in wonderful ways. NOT a modern "stamp home". This place is a real GEM to experience! Coordinating with Mary was seamless too. WONDERFUL TRIP TO LAKE TAHOE!!

My husband and I are merchant mariners who spend half of the year on the ocean. We spend much of our off time in the Lake Tahoe area where we were engaged and also renewed our vows. We love to adventure on the lake and the mountains and are happy to share our half time home with others.

Having lived by the water my entire life, and now working on ships, I never thought I would be able to live "inland". I even told my husband I always had to be able to see water from my home. Luckily we stumbled across the perfect home and a great opportunity.

This home generates a cozy, inviting ambiance in all of the spaces. There are fire places in every room for cold winter nights and you are steps away from the lake for those warm summer days. The view and seclusion cannot be beat! One time cleaning fee for post departure included in our nightly price.

Rockwood Cottage is a unique rustic lake house constructed over 75 years ago in a mountain environment filled with wildlife. Please take that into account when booking our property. We do our best to make your stay comfortable and memorable.
