À propos de cet hébergement

Come to beautiful Vermont and enjoy summer in the Green Mountains, for less.

We dropped our nightly rates, and welcome our neighbors from Quebec to visit the Green Mountain State in the loveliest of seasons. Skiing is fine, but in summer, you can bike, hike, walk, shop, taste artisanal foods and beers, go antiquing, rent a canoe or kayak, or just relax in our oh-so-comfortable home. Not the fanciest, but the best! Let your dogs and your kids off their leashes!

Loved that it was pet friendly. It was the first time we’ve ever taken our small dog.I especially liked that it was so out of the way and serene. It was so quiet and peaceful and similar to where I grew up in Vermont.Having a little trail along a cut that bordered the road was absolutely loaded with ripe raspberries. I haven’t picked berries since I was a kid. Well equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare meals. Everybody loved the homemade raspberry syrup that I made over ice cream at night. The town of Waitsfield is very quiet but had nice places to eat and an excellent supermarket that had provisions from all of the local gardens, farms, and meat producers.House was clean and a great place to just hang and relax. Communication w owner was easy. Had 1 small issue w a blown breaker and she responded immediately. All in all an excellent place in a gorgeous spot

The house was very comfortable for us - two adults and a 30lb well behaved house dog. It was a perfect home base for our day trips and visits with friends. It's close to town (less than 10 mins) yet secluded enough to feel like the middle of nowhere. The house was clean and well equipped with everything we needed for a good stay, and the host was fantastic with excellent communication. We def hope to be back! Recommended.

A fabulous stay, and a great view of the solar eclipse!

We had a lovely stay in Waitsfield. Communication was clear and thorough, and the house was perfect! Beautiful spot, close to downtown, and really delightful. Fun DVD collection, too! Specific to our trip, we had a great view of the solar eclipse.

Location location location

Adorable, clean cabin conveniently located to sugarbush, mad river Glenn and (a little farther out) Stowe. Mad river valley has a great local food scene with Waterbury, Waitsfield, and Warren all within range. Love the von trapp farmstead just down the road from the house as well. Thank you Sheila for a great stay!!

Beautiful location

Really enjoyed the property, Sheila made it easy, and the location and views were terrific. Clean and comfortable. The evening on the deck as the sun were setting were greatly appreciated. The deck awning was great for the warm days. Very much enjoyed exploring Vermont and the little spots along the Mad River, including hiking at Mad River Glen.

Lovely home in the mountains

Loved our stay in the Green Mountains in this secluded house in the hills with beautiful views. Lots of stairs so keep that in mind but a nice and well kept home. Air conditioning not in all rooms but worked well in the ones that had them. It was unseasonably warm when we were there 4th of July week.

Beautiful place in Vermont!

Beautiful, cozy, clean and convenient house! The view from the deck is wonderful! The pictures from the website don’t do the place justice, really! The communication with the owner was great. Especially about the muddy roads at this time of the season. As she told us beforehand, we were able to rent a car accordingly. The small towns around are cute and we found everything we needed. Very nice people everywhere. The theater at Waitsfield was a great family experience! A lot of beautiful all level trails. We definitely loved Vermont!!

Bucolic setting in Mad River Valley

The house was perfect for our family and a plus that it was pet friendly. Sitting on the back deck and listening to the birds each morning was a treat by itself. Walking up and down the dirt roads gave the feeling of being back in time when life was slower and more simple. For a few short days we forgot about the pandemic and basked in the beauty of VT. A plus was that it was around the corner from the Inn at the Round Barn farm where we got married 15 years ago. House was well stocked. Beds were comfy and checking in and out was easy. We thoroughly enjoyed hiking Camels Hump and swimming in Warren Falls and at the covered bridge in Waitsfield. We will definitely go back.

Vacation like a local

So much to love about this property! The house is surrounded by lush landscape plus acreage our son could explore with the dogs. While there is plenty of privacy, nearby neighbors keep you from feeling totally isolated. The expansive deck served as a gathering space for morning coffee, reading, napping, yoga & family meals. The owner provides everything you could need to feel at home along with helpful notes and instructions. As former residents of the Mad River Valley, we chose this property for its proximity to all of our old haunts (shops, eateries, swimming holes, mountain biking & hiking trails). Everywhere you’d want to go is a scenic 10-15 minute drive through a Vermont postcard. Waitsfield Village is just minutes down the road. If you don’t mind hill climbs, you can adventure by foot or bike right out the door. We would definitely stay here again!

Not as expected

The first thing that we noted when we got to the house was that there were dead flies all over the floor. This was especially concerning as our dogs were with us and we didn’t know if a bug killer had been used to kill the flies. The house was also lacking stair railings and had tripping hazards at thresholds which was a major concern for my father with mobility issues. The bedroom that is listed as two twins that can be converted to a king needs a very heavy dresser to be moved in order for that to occur. The location of the bedrooms and bathroom were also precarious and caused concern for falling down the stairs in the middle of the night. We paid quite a bit for a 3 night stay and are sorely disappointed with what we got for our money.

I IMMEDIATELY refunded this tenant one half of the total I netted from their rental AND IMMEDIATELY reached out to them to understand their specific concerns. In ten plus years renting, no one has ever pointed out missing stair railings and tripping hazards. I DO take pains to say that it is necessary to make the two twins into a King; I will be more specific in future about that. I also say, right up front in my description, that this is not a house for people with mobility issues, as there are a lot of stairs. I am sorry the tenant did not notice that. I am very sorry they did not feel comfortable there, but the virtually 100% 5-star ratings I have received throughout my time renting through VRBO should be weighed against these folks' experience.

Snow’s Nest was absolutely ideal for our stay and exceeds the impressions of the listing. It was an easy adjustment including the all important navigation of the kitchen. It is a light-filled, airy space that feels larger than it is. Serenely peaceful and quiet with only two nearby homes not visible at peak foliage. And for those seeking starry skies and the beauty of a dark night, this is respite from light pollution. The property is secluded and naturalized with mown walking paths, lovely for a morning stroll with coffee or winding down at dusk. If you are an amateur botanist or birder, this is a happy spot! The neighborhood is wonderful for long walks on unpaved roads with spectacular views. (Also a nearby greenway trail along a Mad River restoration project.) And all within a few minutes of grocery stores and the shops and restaurants of Waitsfield. We enjoyed joining the community for the final game of the World Cup at ‘The Big Picture’ and music and food at the Round Up Revival on the town green. Also, this location is ideal for side trips to Montpelier and Middlebury. Our only complaint was that we didn’t plan a longer stay, Also, sorry I forgot to write an entry in the guestbook!

Our VT barn cats Cosmo, Moxie, and Bernedoodle Toby and we who serve them welcome you. Animals rule! We love well-behaved, flea-free pets with the exception of some dog breeds (sorry, our insurance requires it). We realize there are good dogs and bad dogs out there of every breed, but the following breeds are generally acknowledged to carry the greatest risk ... pit bulls, akitas, rottweilers, chow chows, presa canarios, or any wolf/dog combination. Mixed breeds are fine (who doesn't love a mutt).

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

No better place on the planet than the State of Vermont, in any season (ok, maybe not mud season)! Sure, great skiing, but great all year round with the wonderful outdoors yours for hiking, biking, fishing, tennis/golf, birdwatching, long trails, kicking back on the east porch or the west deck ... get away from the daily grind, Vermont will help you hit your reset button!

Waitsfield and the entire Mad River Valley are very special places in Vermont, a unique blend of real country living and 21C amenities. Stroll Waitsfield's outdoor market on the weekends, sampling local foods and beverages, sit on one of the couches in the local movie theatre while eating your freshly grilled burgers from the lobby restaurant, go antiquing, visit art shows, take a glider ride at the local airfield, jump in the Mad River to cool off, hike The Long Trail (part of the Appalachian Trail), ride a horse, go fishing, take in a live show at the Skinner Barn, and on and on ...

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

We don't aim to be the fanciest house, but then, do you want to tiptoe through a showcase property, or let your kids and dogs off their leashes? We DO aim for comfort, convenience and fun. The entire house is planned to be a walk in/walk out operation - just pack your suitcase, and stop at the grocery store, everything else you need is here already. It is clean, and furnished specifically for family and social gatherings. Enjoy the unspoiled and varied scenery for dog walking, biking, or just kick back on the front or back decks and watch the wildlife. Waitsfield can cover all your shopping needs. Sorry, no rentals longer than six weeks.
