Other things to note:
- Absolutely NO SMOKING is allowed in or around the home. We have small children, and the smoke can be harmful to their health. If evidence of smoking has occurred, a fine will be levied.
- Placer County Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) is a rental tax paid by the guest for short-term rentals up to 30 days. It is 10% of the accommodations plus cleaning fee. It is not a tax on the business operator. Property owners must collect the tax from the guest on behalf of the County per Revenue Taxation Code 7280 and Placer County Code, Article 4.16. TOT also applies to all rentals from all internet based rental services like Airbnb in the unincorporated areas of Placer County.
-Our cleaning fee is slightly higher because of our strict adherence to maintaining a clean hot tub, which we cannot separate out in the fee structure. This requires a great deal of effort to ensure it is sanitized appropriately.
-We include some cooking supplies for your use: coffee, hot cocoa & tea, coffee fixings, complete pancake mix for your breakfast, oils, a dozen spices, and some condiments in the fridge.
-Mountain WiFi tends to be a little slower than what you may be used to. It does not have the capacity for everyone to stream. Our place is intended as an escape from technology creating meaningful engagement with the folks you are adventuring with.
-In winter when snow is accumulating, the driveway will be plowed at least one time a day conditions permitting. If your car is in the driveway, it may not get plowed. Please move your car if you see the plow in the driveway so we can get the driveway smooth of no snow. This is very important when it is dumping snow. NO MORE THAN 3 CARS please (1 in garage, 2 in driveway).
-Please note that in winter, snow accumulations are commonplace. Please review all I-80 CalTrans and CHP alerts for travel restrictions and carry chains if need be. If you aren't sure you will need them, contact us and we will help. Mountain weather can change quickly; be safe and prepared.
*This area can get up to 600+" of snow per year. Please plan your trip accordingly as we cannot be responsible for missed nights due to weather or travel delays. Visit "NOAA Weather" online and search conditions for zip code 95728. This is a great reliable source for weather conditions (if that even exists ;))
-Power outages can happen during the winter. Especially on the top of the mountain! Although we do not have a generator, we have a wood burning fire place which heats the cabin and a kerosene lamp for ambience :)
