Panoramic gorgeous views of the Gulf of Mexico!! This top floor, end, gulf front unit offers a view like no other!! Located on the 4th floor of the B building, this 2 bedroom 2 bath unit will make you want to stay forever! The master bedroom has a king bed with a walk in closet and large double sink bathroom. It also has 3 large side by side windows to view the gulf. The guest bedroom has 2 Queen beds. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans as well as the living room. Kitchen is fully equipped with dishes and pots/pans for your use. Enjoy the sunrise or sunset from your private covered balcony.

Beach Service – If you didn’t pre-reserve beach chairs, just stop by the beach hut or call the Excel team at In addition to chairs and umbrellas, Excel offers kayaks and paddle boards for rent, as well as an assortment of snacks and drinks.
Tennis, Basketball, Pickleball, and Shuffleboard – Forget your gear? No worries, you can check out rackets, balls, and more at the front desk at no charge!
Grilling Out – In the busy months of spring and summer, many families opt to grill out rather than go out. We have eight charcoal grills available. There are several seafood markets nearby, including Blalock’s which is just a block to the west (p.s., their tuna dip is a must try!).
Fitness Center – Did you know we have a fitness center in the Penthouse building? Just stop by the front desk to borrow the key.
Family Activities – There’s always something fun on the itinerary at Silver Dunes:
‱ Annual Easter Egg Hunt in the Courtyard – Easter Sunday, 9 am in the courtyard
‱ Scavenger Hunts – Throughout the Spring – for children of all ages! Just stop by the office to pick up your scavenger hunt necessities. Once you’ve collected everything, stop back by the office to pick a surprise from the Silver Dunes treasure chest!
‱ Movies in the Courtyard – Bring a picnic blanket, your beach chairs, and join us on Mondays at dusk throughout June and July. We show a different family-friendly movie each week.
‱ S’mores Nights with Live Music at the Pool –Wednesday nights are awesome at Silver Dunes! Throughout June and July, the firepits will be out, s’mores roasting, and tunes playing!

My only suggestion was that Beach Services should have notified the cabana users that they were removing the cabanas early. Renters personal items were removed by Beach Services. Silver Dunes management could have put up notices that cabanas removal would happen early.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We are staying through February. Everything is fine except the condition of the exercise room equipment. None of it properly works. Silver Dunes should not advertise “Exercise Room Available” until equipment can be properly maintained. Otherwise, Silver Dunes is a GREAT place to stay.

Great Location - just needs a few repairs

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of this unit is so very close to the beach with great views. The unit is high enough to see the ocean in a distance and low enough to have a great view for watching and listening to the ocean waves. This unit is right beside the outdoor staircase. When you walk out your door you are 5 steps from the stair case. There are 38 steps to the bottom...and 15 steps to the beach. You are as close to the beach as you can get if you don't mind stairs. The elevator is on the other side of the building so if you can't handle stairs this may not be an ideal setup for you. The issues we had with this unit was 1) the guest bedroom didn't have a remote 2) the outside balcony light fixture wouldn't stay on and flickered off and on so we set one of the floor lamps in the corner of the balcony 3) there was no overhead light in the master bedroom - a fixture was there but no light bulb or globe 4) many of the lamps didn't work - perhaps need new bulbs 5) the guest bedroom ceiling fan is in desperate need of is very dated and the light fixture was dim. The unit was very well stocked and clean and parking was never an issue. If you want a unit close to the beach this one is for you. You can open your windows and hear the waves like they are right beside you. We will be booking this unit again in hopes some repairs are made for our next visit.

Door into MBR bathroom needs to be rehung; it won't close. Andy is aware. We had to remop the floor throughput; apparently housekeeping service used “dirty” water on a recent cleanup. Hope to return to B1404 next year.

The Administrative Assistant was very friendly and informative, the property was clean and well-maintained, the amenities satisfied our expectations, and the condo unit was very relaxing that provided all that was desired during our visit (kitchen utensils, bathroom conveniences, etc.). The beach and ocean is priceless! Grant (the Excel company beach chair & umbrella rep) was very professional and friendly. Enjoyed staying here vs. a chain hotel. Nothing wrong with chain hotels it's just having a larger space with the comforts like home (ie, kitchen, living room, etc.) was relaxing. We will be vacationing here again. New motto..."Destin is our new 'Destin-ation'".

And while there are towering hotels up and down the beach with much more crowded oceanfronts Silver Dunes is so much more quaint and relaxing!Our kids enjoyed the pool, jumping in the ocean waves and playing on the beach, we got to see dolphins I'm not kidding each and every single day and just all around loved it!Our unit was top floor right off the beach so we had incredible views too. Would definitely recommend to families with children for sure!

ALWAYS COMING BACK TO SILVER DUNES-BEST LOCATION ON THE BEACH

Reviewer Comments: We have enjoyed year after year at SILVER DUNES with very enjoyable condos with low population versus the high rise condos around us resulting in a very private beach feel with only one row of umbrellas as compared to the 3-5 rows the high rises require due to having 10-15 stories versus 3 stories at SILVER DUNES. Will continue coming back with our growing family renting multiple units each summer. Entire BEACH OPS as well as OFFICE STAFF are exceptional!

Annual October Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We visit Silver Dunes every October for the past 10 years. Everyone is always friendly and welcoming. Last year we had some cleanliness issues that I addressed at that time but never had a response from management. This year we had some other cleanliness issues such as Froot Loop cereal under the couch from the previous renters and dirty bath mats. We have noticed new changes such as housekeeping, laundry, the grounds and general maintenance. I think the new updates on the windows, new rails upcoming etc. are exciting. I felt a little uneasy and unsecure walking the grounds after dark. I felt it was a little less home/family feel than in the past. The office staff was very friendly and help and of course George is AWESOME!! Thank you for everything. We will return in May and October of 2019!!!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family has stayed in Silver Dunes for 40 years now. Many changes in that time. Some good, some not so good. As usual George has the beach looking great and always a pleasure to work with. The staff has changed, but Sandra has always worked with us and tried to make our stay a pleasant one. New towel and supplies policy a disappointment. Deposit and rate hike making it harder and harder to return. Always enjoyed staying here because I considered it different than the other options in the Destin area. Disappointed that they're trying to "be like everybody else". We are looking at other options, but as of now, we will be back next year.
