C'est inhabituel pour les plages du nord, oĂč presque toutes les autres maisons ont un enregistrement Ă  16 heures. Il y a une route principale dans et hors de la zone - Ă  mesure qu'elle se rapproche de cette arrivĂ©e Ă  16 heures, tout ce trafic peut vraiment reculer. Notre enregistrement anticipĂ© vous permet de contourner la majeure partie du trafic traversant l'Ăźle et le long de la cĂŽte.

Mises à jour: Nous possédons cette maison depuis 2008 et chaque année, nous effectuons des réparations, des mises à niveau et des ajouts à ce que nous offrons. Quelques changements majeurs récemment: en 2014, nous avons fait repeindre tout l'extérieur de la maison, ajouté des téléviseurs à écran plat dans le salon et les chambres principales, et amélioré l'entrée avec du carrelage en "bois". En 2015, nous avons remplacé tous les tapis de la maison, ajouté une nouvelle laveuse et sécheuse et remplacé l'unité de CVC à l'étage supérieur.

Lovely vacation home

Overall the home was great! There could've been a few more towels, none were there for the kitchen, and we would've liked a little more seating in the living room....but it was a 5 min walk to the beach, the pool was great and we would definitely rent this home again.

Great birthday weekend

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed my birthday weekend getaway. The owner allowed a 3 night rental and was very responsive to all inquiries. The exterior was a little weathered compared to the neighboring properties and the photos but the price was right and the interior was satisfactorily comfortable. The owner is great and sent helpful info on activities in the area. We had a good time and are looking forward to future trips to the Outer Banks. We didn't see the wild horses but did enjoy the sand dune gliding and the Wright Brothers Memorial as well as dinner at Flying Fish in Kill Devil Hills.

Not so happy vacation

Was only able to stay one day before being evacuated..didnt get any money back for the trip..house was dirty when we checked in and the people who worked at the clubhouse was pretty rude when we went to get our bracelets to use their amenities!!

Family vacay

This house is in a great location. A walk to Food Lion, mini golf and other restaurants and shops. The amenities were close and easy to reserve online (tennis/pickleball courts/ fitness center). During our visit we had the pool to ourselves during the late day hours. Also close to beach access. The house had all we needed (coffee pot, pots, pans, dishes, etc). One thing to note
.this property is organized and doesn’t have the leftover things other renters leave behind. It’s nice to open cabinets and store your own items in the pantry and not have to worry about junk left from others. The property had plenty of beach items to use. We were a family with 6 adults and an infant and we had plenty of space inside and out.

Nice location!

Having stayed in this neighborhood previously we knew we had a good location - especially for the cost. The earlier check-in time was a BIG plus. The house had a nice Hot tub, nice views, good layout and our family enjoyed our stay here. The house cleaning good be just a little better, window panes were dirty in dining room and a window treatment is missing here also. We also noticed some of the walls around the doors could use painting and or cleaned. The house came with many beach chairs, boogie boards and toys which was a plus. The beach carts could use some help, rust, etc but overall very nice to have beach items if you need them. The outside could use some TLC, with trees and shrubs against the home and the Deck really needs some attention, rough in places and needing some Deck over, or other treatment. Again, our trip was about Family and this home worked just fine. Thank you.

Corolla Stay

House is in need of maintenance inside and out. Loose bannister in second floor dangerous. Toilets slow to fill. Refrigerator slow to cool. Range with one eye not working at all. Upstairs air out on arrival, contacted owner and repairman did come next day. Outside grounds with downed tree limbs and brush. Sumacs poison ivy has overtaken trees and shrubs on ground, along shrubs in walk ways and even up trees touching upper deck, also very dangerous had someone in our group been sensitive to the aroma that poison ivy ir sumac in this case gives off. Luckily nobody in our group that sensitive but some truly are. Would not stay in this home again. We made the best of it and still enjoyed our trip.

Property needs attention

We have been at this property before and loved it, however this time it was not very clean at all. It appeared to not of been dusted in a long while. Bathroom sinks had other people’s hair on it . Toilets dirty. Inside stove hasn’t been cleaned in a long while. Dirty sponge mop at the door you go out to use hot tub. Dirty blankets in one tub. 2 dirty towels shoved in a draw. Light switches with dirt all over them. I could honestly keep going. The owners let us know that they do not check up on their cleaner and she was having a bad week. Then only suggested given to us was to have her come back while we were there to fix it. We are hoping this gets fixed and no one else experiences this especially paying so much for just a weekend getaway. We had to clean everything we used. As some of the dishes had food on them and the silverware draw had food it in as well.

Overall Bad Experience

We loved the location of this property and the layout worked well for our family. That being said, the property was not as upkept as we had hoped. We had an AC situation that was quickly rectified by the owner. The door to the deck from the master was damaged and needing replacement. There was a terrible smell noted on day one that continued to get worse in the master bedroom. On day three we came back to the house after a long day to discover Maggots in the master bath coming from around the tub. The exterminator was called in but unfortunately there was not much he could do to remedy the situation except spray for the maggots. A dead animal was decaying behind the wall and the wall would need to be cut open and new drywall added. None of which could be done with us staying there. The owner did offer us a $500 credit for the inconvenience, but it was rather disgusting to have to sleep in a room with that odor and knowing what was behind the bathroom door. It is understandable that sometimes things happen that the owner isn't aware of, however we lost time with family and friends while dealing with this situation on top of having to spend more than half our time living with the smell of death on the living level. This was not an experience I care to repeat.

Mostly good, a little disappointed

The house was absolutely gorgeous, however, there were spiders and cob webs all over the porches and balconies. Definitely spacious as pictured. The beach was fairly close, definitely a drive if you plan on taking all your beach gear, chairs, coolers, and umbrellas/tents.(which alot was already there for our convenience) The clubhouse was fairly close but all closed after labor day, so you had no access to the pool. Plus you now have to make reservations for the pool/ fitness center/boat launch so you can't just walk in and enjoy the amenities. Beth was very responsive and helpful which was nice and the house was well stocked with everything you would need. There were stores for shopping, food, and groceries very close or even walking distance. Biggest complaint was that early check was offered for 1pm, was told the housekeeper was running a little late (which was fine because so were we) however, we arrived at almost 4 pm and the housekeeper had just barely started cleaning. She did not finish up until after 5pm so we could not get our stuff in and situated while she was there with her kids. The kitchen was left unclean with crumbs and dirt on the floor and grease marks all over the microwave and countertops. While I understand things happen, it was frustrating as after a 13 hour car ride, I didn't expect to get there and spend our first night cleaning and tidying what should have been done prior to us being there. Definitely a great place to stay with a big family.

Good Stay, Could Have Bern

This is a nice house with a lovely interior. I loved that there was seating for 8 at the dining room table, plentiful 3.5 bathrooms, comfy seating in the living room, lots of bright natural lighting, and a hot tub conveniently located on the main living level. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and eating in. And the house was just a few blocks' walk from the beach, Food Lion, and restaurants. (Be sure to visit Timbuck II!) The negatives are relatively small things. This is my first rental property that didn't provide basic necessities (toilet paper, bar soap) -- so don't show up desperate to use the restroom! The fridge door almost never shut completely. They sent instructions for how to properly load your food items -- but what they really need is a properly functioning fridge. It simply must be fixed or replaced. Also, I believe if you "sell" things as part of your offering, they should be in good shape ... that means toss out those nasty, rusty beach chairs and those games with missing pieces. Lastly, the washing machine didn't fill propertly. You can choose "super plus" size load all you want ... it's still going to fill only partially. I had to give everything an extra rinse to ensure the soap came out. The washer also must be fixed or replaced. Overall it was a good places to stay. Fixing these little things would have made it a great place to stay. Note: Be prepared for walking up and down a lot of stairs. This is usually fine but tiring and sweaty when bringing suitcases and groceries in.

This house is Epic!!!

I’d like to first off say the owner of this house is awesome! Him and his wife have put some hard work into this house to make sure their guest are comfortable and happy here. There is tasteful decor, we really love the two master suites, comfortable beds (which can be extremely hard to find at homeaway rentals) stocked kitchen, kid ready, spacious for our traveling group, awesome hot tub, close to everything you need in Corolla! Overall, we are very happy here and appreciate greatly the opportunity to stay here. On a side note: I’d just like to say.. my family followed the Ashely P. girl with the one star review left on March 5th 2018. Well... when we were on the way down we were informed house keeping was going to need some extra time to get things ready for us.. because this Ashley girls group, not only stole bedding, sheets, pillows from the couch, burnt holes in the comforter and then stained another comforter but left cigarette butts on the deck, and we found marijuana on the rim of the hot tub along with spots where you can tell the cigarettes were “put out” on the hot tub and something had to have been spilt in the water because it was very off colored and did not look appealing. I contacted the owner and he sent the spa people out the very next morning and it was drained, cleaned and refilled. These folks were a disgrace to this house and that’s so unfortunate, especially when the owners are so nice and responsive, and offering their home to people to enjoy. I hope whoever is reading these reviews see that they have 4-5 stars across the board... and that this one group of people are just making up lies. There is no mold here, and maybe if this Ashely girl would have realized there is a thermostat on each floor, she could have cut off the AC and turned on the heat. Duh. 🙄 Everything in this house works as it should and if there is any issues at all like I said the owners are on top of it. We love this house and again appreciate the opportunity to stay here!!

An enjoyable stay at Swept Away.

Our family had a wonderful time during our stay at Swept Away. The architecture of the house is very striking. Beth was readily available to answer any concerns or questions we had and provided lots of information about the area with suggestions as to where to eat and activities that are available. The community clubhouse is a big plus and easy to get to. We chose not to use the hot tub since we were there in the middle of a hot spell and no one felt like getting in hot water when the outside temperature was in the upper nineties. However, the people who serviced the hot tub did show up to make any adjustments had they been needed. I do have a few suggestions which we were used to having during our stay in other rentals. These by no means kept us from having a grand time. The house definitely could use some updating. Several kitchen and bathroom knobs and cabinet facings were loose and a few were almost falling off when they were opened. It would be nice if the owners provided floor mats in the bathrooms so it wouldn’t be so slippery getting out of the tubs. Fortunately we read from previous renters to bring extra towels so we used the owner’s towels for floor mats and used our towels for drying off. Also, in the powder room it would be more inviting if a hand towel or two was made available after washing ones hands. There were no kitchen towels as stated so we just used paper towels that we bought. Other suggestions would be that the couch was in need of a good cleaning, one of the bathroom drawers in the upper king bedroom had some dead bugs and mosquitos in it, just an oversight on the part of the cleaning staff which isn’t a big deal other than the fact that I’m a clean freak and have an aversion to bugs, and the queen bed in the middle level was most uncomfortable for those who used it. They kept rolling toward the middle and the bed was pretty squeaky each time they moved. Fortunately, they didn’t make too big a deal of it but enough of a deal as to mention it to us. That did bother me since I’m the one who booked the house and would want my family to have a good nights sleep. All in all we enjoyed our vacation very much at Swept Away.

Friends vacation

Every year six friends take turns picking a vacation spot. This year was our turn and we picked Corolla, NC. Communication from the owner was excellent. The property was as described but could use a little updating. The stove was older and took a long time to heat and the queen mattress was said to be sinking in the middle. The other beds were very comfortable. Pleanty of seating available on both decks. Enjoyed having the separate decks and bathrooms which allowed for privacy when wanted, even with other guests. It is in the check out rules to remove anything brought (spices, soaps, detergents, etc.) so be sure to bring or plan on buying anything you might need. Would definitely recommend to others and would stay again if back in the area.

We had a bit of a hiccup on arrival but the owner went above and beyond to quickly take care of the issue.(much appreciated) The house has everything we needed for our family vacation and really felt like home for our stay....The location was great with a short walk to the beach and stores, restaurants and shopping very close as well. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of room for the kids to play, make big family dinners and we especially loved the wrap around decks...everything was just as described and we hope to make an annual trip to this lovely location. We loved this house and the town💜

Fun time with family

This was a great getaway for our elderly mothers who had not been to the beach in over 10 years. Great property for families to be together but have their own space as well. There are a lot of stairs inside in case there are family members with mobility issues. Thank you for the wonderful accommodations.

Amazing home!!!

This was a first vacation for our newly blended family and we couldn’t have asked for a better place! The home was beautiful, clean and full of space for together time and separate downtime! The central location to everything was perfect! 5 stars isn’t enough!!

Great Location

We had 7 adults staying for the week with different schedules. The close access to the beach was wonderful so we could all leave at different times and eventually walk to meet up at the beach. Bring your own pillow

Nice Place—As Described

We had a great stay. The house was as described and located close to shops and restaurants. Short drive to the beach
could also walk but we had younger kids in our group so it was easier to drive. All around a great place!

We love Corolla and have vacationed in this area since 1996. Corolla beaches offer a quiet beauty that we have not seen in many other places. The beach is small, but so is the community, so it never seems too crowded & you’re always near the water.

The Monteray Shores community has so much to offer and our guests receive complimentary access to the Clubhouse Fitness Center, large pool plus kiddie pool, sound-front Sunset Pier, tennis courts, terrific playgrounds and more.

We really feel that our house is perfectly located. Only a short, 8-10 min walk to the beach. Being at the southern end of Monteray Shores, we are super close to many shops & amazing restaurants. Teens also appreciate being able to walk on their own to Dairy Queen or mini-golf.

Our home has a rock & roll history! It was formerly owned by Dave Grohl - yes, THAT Dave Grohl - and even though we've never met him : ( we like to wonder who may have visited here over the years!
