Studio Apartment overlooking Molasses Pond

Looking for a quiet place to get away but yet explore Downeast Maine? This spacious, sunny studio apartment is located on Molasses Pond. It features an amazing view from the upstairs apartment. There is access to a sandy beach with kayaks, beach chairs and fire pit located across the road. (This is our private property.)

Experience the beauty of Maine with the fresh water access on the large pond and the the call of the salty ocean water not too far away. We are located in Eastbrook about 50 minutes from Acadia National Park. About 30 minutes from the Schoodic National Scenic Byway and the Tidal Falls Preserve.

The large kitchen is fully equipped for making meals to enjoy inside or outside on the deck overlooking the water. A gas grill is provided on the deck.

The open concept feels roomy and relaxing in this tastefully decorated studio with a futon and comfy rocker recliner. Starlink Satellite internet is provided for wifi. The studio offers a large TV with DISH TV and a DVD player. Enjoy the beauty around you as you are surrounded by nature. Games, books, DVD movies and puzzles are provided as another way to relax in this peaceful environment.

Want a taste of the Maine woods? Take a short drive to the windmills. (These windmills can be seen from the pond but not heard!) Easily explore the Maine woods on these well maintained dirt roads which are suitable for a vehicle. Keep your eyes open for birds, eagles and other wildlife like turtles, rabbits and foxes. You might even see a bear or a moose! For the best experience, bring your bike, Side by Side (UTV) or ATV. The Downeast Sunrise Trail is accessible from our location. Gorgeous in the fall and great for snowmobiles in the winter. We have room to park a trailer so you can bring your ATV or snowmobile. The pond is also good for ice fishing in the winter.

The apartment is accessed by outside stairs from the paved driveway.

A heat pump provides heating and cooling. A washer, dryer and dishwasher are in the apartment.

We love to be off the beaten path, this place is a little more off the path than I would've preferred, however, the place itself and biew is spectacular. Would definitely stay again and hope to soon!

Beautiful setting, newly built and super clean. Owner has gone out of their way to create a lovely environment. Quite remote so stop for groceries prior and enjoy the beauty of Molasses Pond.

Great spot!

We really enjoyed our stay - we all wish we could have stayed longer! The apartment is beautiful and spacious - the owners have done a great job and it is very well thought out. We enjoyed kayaking, paddle boating and the fire pit. If you like lobster rolls, don't miss out on Dorr's which is a 30 minute drive away. Delicious!

Awesome getaway

This was a wonderful cottage across from the lake. It’s about an hour from Bar Harbor but the drive is a nice one and worth it when you get back to this location! If ever in Maine again we will try to stay here. Lots of amenities we didn’t even have the chance to enjoy- bon fires and kayaks that the owner has available. 5 * for sure!

Beautiful, Quiet and Relaxing

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at Molasses Pond. We are from the midwest and wanted to see and experience Maine. We found the VRBO very clean, decorated beautifully, quiet and relaxing. Communication with owner, Naomi, went very smoothly. We went to Bar Harbor and Acadia Nat'l Park. Both were about a 45 minute drive away. The VRBO property was just as advertised if not even better than advertised. All of our needs were met.

Our weekend stay at the Overlook property was brief, but truly very memorable! The studio interior is neat, clean, and well designed to accommodate four guests (I travelled with 3 other friends). The lake view is amazing from our balcony, and access to the kayaks and fire pit are wonderful to come back to after spending the day at Acadia Nat’l Park. Plan to get your groceries ahead of time as the location is pretty isolated. Naomi, our host, accommodated our needs and will answer your questions timely. She is a wonderful host! Thank you Naomi!

AMAZING PLACE TO ESCAPE!

From the start to the end of our stay it was perfection. The area is remote but when you pull up and see the view its well worth the drive. The place was immaculate. Very clean and well equipped with everything you will need. The kitchen had everything you could think of when you go on vacation. The bathroom was stocked with towels and a washer and dryer, which was essential for our trip because we packed lightly. The communication with the property owners was very responsive and helpful when needed. The bonus is access to the kayaks and the peddle boat. My daughter got to try something new and fell in love with the pond. The property is picturesque like a painting. We will definitely be booking again for another trip!

Perfect escape!!

We just loved it here! It felt like home away from home! They had everything we needed and were so comfortable! We loved that it was just out of the way enough that we were away from all of the tourist traffic and could enjoy all the beauty that Maine had to offer, the wild life, the beach, etc. but still close enough to have a short drive to experience all of that too. It was perfect!! Naomi was an incredible host and the beach, kayaks and everything else they offer as extras with the rental is amazing!! I wish we stayed longer, that is for sure!

The Overlook was absolutely beautiful! My husband and I were in town for a half marathon. The location is very remote but perfect for relaxation. Access to the lake was a plus! Sunrises & sunsets were stunning. Cleanliness was spot-on and everything possibly needed was provided. Thank you Treadwell's for welcoming us to the Overlook!

Quiet and relaxing.

This beautiful property is tucked away in a remote section of the woods. The view is gorgeous any time of the day as you overlook the pond from your private deck. We visited in early fall and the leaves had just begun changing yet days were still comfortable. Unfortunately, as it was after Labor Day, many restaurants had closed but fresh lobster was still easily accessible. Would definitely recommend the overlook to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway at an amazing, well- equipped rental.

Would go back in a heartbeat!

This is a beautiful property off the beaten path. My 18 year old and 12 year old kids loved the lake and access to the lake was perfect. This house is beautiful and had most of the amenities of home. The owner was there to greet us when we arrived and explained everything we needed to know and gave us some tips on what we should see. I highly recommend staying at this place.

The BEST vacation

The Overlook is the most charming, peaceful, relaxing, and clean vacation rental we’ve experienced. It was what we needed to decompress and enjoy what really matters. There were so many amenities that came along with the rental. We highly recommend the Overlook for anyone looking to relax and unwind.

Nancy and I loved our week at Molasses Lake. The deck, the views, the grill were all perfect for us on those nice evenings. Inside is every bit as nice - a full kitchen, full bath, lovely sitting area with big screen TV and a comfy and spacious bed. A few things to be aware of: 1. you’re about an hour from Bar Harbor - this didn’t stop us from enjoying Bar Harbor, Acadia, Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, or Winter Harbor (on Schoodic - and recommended) in the least - you just have to build it into your expectations and it’s a nice drive in. 2. The one small drawback of the apt - which didn’t bother either of us who are in our 60’s - is a pretty steep stairway into the space. Although we did not get to meet Naomi she was very responsive to the few calls and texts we sent out. Thank you Naomi Long story short: we loved it

Beautiful private lake house!

We were very happy with this lake house! Naomi and Bob welcomed us and treated us like old friends. The place itself was comfortable, pristine, and had every amenity we needed. We spent some time on the lake with the kayaks and paddle boats. We traveled back and forth to Acadia/Bar Harbor which was an hour trip each way but it enabled us to see more of Maine.

We love the water! For more than 18 years we lived on a small island in Maine accessible only by ferry and did lobster and other commercial fishing. We have also owned a marina on Lake Champlain.
While we love the ocean, the freshwater offers much better opportunities for swimming, kayaking and fishing. So that is why we love this Lake House. It is not far from the beauty and majesty of the ocean but is located on fresh water with a sandy beach perfect for wading, swimming or launching a kayak. The loons are plentiful on the lake and it is good for fishing.

Not far from the property are well maintained dirt roads which lead to windmills. The dirt roads can be accessed by vehicles, ATVs, bikes or snowmobiles. These roads are great for seeing wildlife or hunting. We have seen a moose and many birds. The roads are intertwined with ATV trails and snowmobile trails. Some of the roads cross brooks that are good for fishing.
Take a drive, bike or recreational vehicle and enjoy the beauty of the woods nearby or just stay there and relax by the water.
